Anybody here bowl at Sam Town's in Vegas for league?

Just curious how the THS is laid out and what type of lanes they are.

Any insights?

Dryer house usually you can swing the lane pretty well, put it this way i have shot 1185 for 5 the last time i practiced there. My friend averages 191 in my house over there she average 211 and she is not that good pretty good spare shooter.

Do they usually short oil it?

I am going there for a tournament this weekend starting sunday.

Last year it did hook a lot pretty much like a wet/dry.

Do you see it there like that pretty much?

scores were very high this year during the 1st squad of this tournament, seemed like 270+ was the norm.  wondering if anyone else here bowled any of the other squads and could report the scores that were winning the side pots.  the 1st squad also had quite a few high end bowlers and average managers, probably heard about the easy pickings and decided to show up.  i saw jonathan ng and he was bowling the 2nd squad.  the lanes dried up very quickly.  not so bad on sunday at noon, but on monday at 4pm, the lanes dried out a little quicker.  both of these squads had fresh oil and backends.  kegel machine at sam's town went all the way to the pin deck.

It was good experience this year. The pattern was a THS. But they dried out fast and you had to chase the oil inside quick. I was playing anywhere from the third arrow to the fifth arrow. Had to use all the oil in the middle to skid the ball out to the dry and back. Carry was the main issue. You could hit the pocket any way you threw it but corners and everything else you left. Plus hitting the dry left big fours and etc....

Since i bowled the second squad for two days you had to score 270 or better to win a pot. No matter how easy the lanes were, you had to execute every shot and watch your ball reaction very carefully. If you didn't adjust you were in trouble.

Did you guys bowl the Hawaiian Invitational?  A lot of my friends bowled.  One friend in particular shot extremely well, FWIH.  279, 299...He must've shot 8 for his first three.  Another friend said he went 240-240 and was knocked out of 17 of 20 scratch brackets.  Yeah, scores were pretty high.

we bowled next to the gentlemen with the 279 and 299.  he had a very good set with i believe 230 something for a low 8.  looked like he was playing a slight swing with good speed and he obviously had good carry.
yes, brackets were very tough.  one of the guys on my team shot 740 and lost money!
as jon said, 270+ was the norm to make any money.  you are maybe allowed one minor mistake a game.  pretty tough, especially for us rev challenged folks.
