need a suggestion on a mild solid reactive
« on: August 08, 2008, 09:19:19 AM »
Hi everyone, I am going to be bowling the winter pba experience league coming up in my center. I think I am set for the rest of the patterns except for the cheetah. Right now, I have a storm too hot drilled label, an original hot rod drilled 5 x 5 pin right below ring, cg on top of thumb, a x-factor reloaded drilled pin right below ring, cg out with a hole just inside my pap mas bias under thumb, and a roto grip neptune that I will be drilling up shortly. Now I know that these balls are my only options right now, but I was wanting to get some suggestions on if I should add a mild solid reactive, as my other 3 solid reactives are way too much ball for the cheetah. Please let me know thanks, stats are in profile

a storm jolt with a real weak drilling in it might be something to think about.. and if you need a little more length you can change the cover/surface on the ball.. should get down the lane and arc of the spot..

A storm jolt with a weak drill will probably be a dart for you.
I'd say go with a Street Rod Solid and slap your favorite drill on it.

Well, the jolt solid maybe a weak piece, but not if you drill it stronger. There is a jolt solid on ebay right now for real cheap, has a 3 1/2 inch pin. Because I am thinking that my hot rod will work, but that is a pearl and so having a similar ball but in a solid should give me a few more options.

And Slash, I already have two balls that would go longer, like my reloaded and too hot, so a jolt solid might be a good choice for me.

Well, I just picked up a slightly used neptune with a 2 3/4 inch pin, but would the neptune be a little too flippy though for the cheetah? The reason why I was thinking of a mild solid reactive is because it would not flip quite soo much on the cheetah.

Will you be bowling on wood or synthetics?  My PBA Experience league was on wood with Guardian overlays, and I needed fairly strong equipment.  A Roto-Grip Mystic, drilled pin down 5 x 45 with a weight hole on the VAL, 1" below PAP and 2000 Abralon finish worked great along with my Cell drilled pin up, 5 x 3, no weight hole and 2000 Abralon finish.

Direct, I will be bowling on used synthetics. I already have a few balls that would flip on the cheetah, but was hoping to pick up a mild to moderate solid reactive to read the middle just a little more. Two of the solid reactives that I have are a duece and a vertigo and they would be way too strong on the cheetah, just because they flare soo much. But, I was thinking of a jolt solid with the pin under my ring cg right under that or cg out with a low hole. I have an original hot rod and getting a jolt solid would be a step up from that ball but would read the middle a little sooner.

I know Jeff Carter uses a pin axis street rod solid for cheetah a lot.

Twister, I thought about getting a jolt solid that is on ebay and doing something close to a pin axis layout, but I think that I would rather get a ball with a short pin and do pin under ring for earlier role.

my pluto rolled good on the cheetah with pin below ring finger and cg 270 degrees below. so i think a street rod solid would be good too
