The 2Fast is the new ball in the Hot line replacing last year’s Fast. The update in core to the N.O.S. core provides more muscle than the Turbine core. The Turbine core has proven to be a winner with its debut in the Street Rods it then found its way into the Fast and Furious, and with a continuation into current products like the Tropical Heats and Naturals. Clearly, the N.O.S. core has some very big shoes to follow, and I think it will have no problem stepping in to take over at the price point. The core offers an rg rating of 2.53 and a diff. of .045 in 15lbs. The cover of the 2Fast is the tried and proven pearl R2S found on many previous releases from Storm (if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it!!). I drilled my 2Fast with pin about ¾ of an inch above my ring finger, and CG on my grip line (5.5 x 5.5). I kept the 2Fast at box finish which is 1500 grit polished.
First I would like to start by saying that I am not a fan of the typical skid snap reaction. Although I need plenty of help getting through the front of the lane due to my low degree of axis tilt(about 10-11 degrees at most), I generally do not like the ball to go sideways coming out of the pattern, because I also have a slower ball speed compared to my rev rate. The 2Fast, although comes off the spot very aggressively, goes about it in a different way that I can control. With last year’s release of the Reign, and now the 2Fast, I am able to have two balls that I can use, that are of a skid snap characteristic. The pearl R2S cover hooks at the right time for me, without shooting through the break point, and coming in behind the head pin. It is strong enough to handle some of the “thicker” oils, but yet still has energy saved to make that nice strong move down lane.
The 2Fast fits perfectly between my Fast (6 x 6/ step 3 with Xtra shine), and my Reign (5 x 5.5/ box finish). When I need that clean glide through the front, that a polished pearl gives me, and my Reign is just too strong at the break point, I can “core” down to my 2Fast.
The 2Fast is an improved Fast. It will handle more oil, and give bowlers more hook potential at a very modest price point. I will be using the 2Fast on many conditions ranging from lower to medium volume house patterns (I was able to shot 800 with it, the first night I used it in league) where I want to move in and open up the lane by using the “miss” area created by the higher scoring lane condition, to PBA patterns like Viper and Chameleon. With the combination of the Tropical Heats (the Heats have the Reactor cover) the stronger core comes at a big advantage to any bowler. It really fills the void between the Reign and the pearl Tropical Heat that was created by discontinuing the Fast.

The last thing I want to say about the 2Fast is it has great shelf appeal. The blend of green and blue looks great sitting on the shelf and also rolling down the lane, revving up in the mid lane, unleashing an awesome backend reaction to the pins!

The newest balls in the Hot line are the 2Fast and 2Furious. Both using the all new N.O.S. core surrounded by the R2S cover.

I drilled my 2Fast 4 1/2" from pap with the cg 4" from pap with a small hole down. This layout puts the pin in my ring finger. It is the same as my 2Furious.

I use my 2Fast after the lanes have broken down. It has worked well for me on the Scorpion and Viper patterns towards the end of the block. Due to the R2S pearl cover on the 2Fast I'm able to move left and open up the lane. On both of these patterns I have switched from a Virtual Energy to the 2Fast after the the VE was reading the lane to soon and I needed more length. In league this is the end of the night ball after the lanes have broken down and hook to early.

To compare the 2Fast with my Reign the total hook for me is about the same. The Reign has a much weaker drill and sharper breakpoint. It will be the ball I go to when the 2Fast hooks too soon.

This ball is probibly my favorite ball that i have thrown in years i drilled up 2 of these, 1 with a 2in pin and the second with a 5in pin, the 2in pin ball is great for flat patterns it is just amazing how well the bal opens up hard patterns by starting up quick but the core is tall enought to still have pin action when it enters the deck, The 5in pin, is great for when to paterns blow open and you can move left and send the ball right and have faith that it will come back strong and have hitting power.

Pap: 5 1/4 x 1 3/8 up
Above avg revolutions
Ball speed: medium - high

Drilling: 5" pin-PAP-- cg at 4.5" from pap and an x hole 6 3/4 out on the center line

Reaction:  2 fast is a great addition to the storm family. It replaces the original fast. The 2 fast gets very similar in length as the fast but has a much sharper move on the backend. This ball will be great on a 2nd shift pattern when the oil gets carried down and you need a ball to come around the corner to kick out the corners.

Comparison: this ball fits in perfectly above a tropical heat but below the 2furious. Also in comparison to the original fast this ball with the same drilling is similar length but above 5 boards stronger on the backend.

Upgrading the core of the 2Fast provides a much bigger punch in the back part of the lane.  Though it is recommended for medium-light conditions, I do not agree completely.  The layout I chose gave me good clearance through the heads and decent read in the midlane.  Depending on where I tried to play, I got three different reactions in the back part of the lane.  Even with that said, all looks were solid and consistent.  I see my primary use of the 2 Fast when I'm inside and opening up the lane when my Hyroad with a similar layout responds too much to the friction and when the lanes aren't dried out enough to go to my Reign with a weaker layout.

My 2Fast and my 2Furious were bought together and drilled identically. The pin on both balls is 2.5-3inches, and was drilled with the pin about an inch or an inch and a half above my ring finger with the CG kicked out right, and the drilling was meant to not change much and sort of let the ball do what it was originally designed for.


 


This ball was my go to ball for the vast majority of the season as I have always preferred a ball that got farther down the lane with more angle on the backend, and thus the pearl cover stock of this ball (in comparison to the 2Furious) just seemed to suit me better. The ball was definitely not the ball to start a day with if the pattern had even a remotely high amount of oil (either in volume or in length) but I normally used a 2Furious for those sorts of patterns, and would find transitioning to this ball extremely easy as soon as the lanes opened up a bit.


 


For a mid-priced ball, this ball was phenomenal at recovering from mistakes in my own ball placement, and hit the pocket with enormous amounts of energy. In collegiate competition we normally bowl seven games on day 1 with 5 person-teams (so 35 games total) without re-oiling, and as the lanes opened up and dried out this ball was always the ball to go to. I could get as deep as I wanted and know that this ball would get the length needed to bowl on the condition while still having enough energy to make a strong move to the pocket. On a more typical house shot, I could straighten my line up and play the outside of the lane and watch this ball find friction down the lane and blow racks away. The fall quickly became one of the two balls I used in the only league I bowled this season (alongside my tropical heat).

My 2Fast was drilled to jump off the friction; it is an aggressive drilling with the pin above my middle finger and the CG kicked right for a strong finish. The 2Fast is no doubt one of my favorite bowling balls that I have purchased this past year, its pearl cover-stock offers a smooth controlled movement of the ball down the lane, and a strong hook in the back end.


 


Out of the box, this ball has offered me the best combination of average ball speed (15/16mph at release), with an average rev rate (200-300rpm), On dryer conditions this ball allows me to move left without sacrificing any ball reaction down lane. On longer/heavier conditions the ball allows me to play the middle of the lane (typically area with the majority of oil for house conditions) where it has enough hold and strength to crush the pocket once the ball clears the oil. In addition to being able to play the middle of the lane, straight up the outside of the lane is also an option available to the bowler.


 


This ball with its great length and massive backend strength has become one of my favorites thus far for all sorts of conditions, long-heavy, short-medium, it doesn’t matter the ball gives you a strong reaction and finish down lane. I would highly recommend this ball to anyone looking to fill an arsenal gap for those shorter medium oil patterns.

I purchased my 2Fast in order to have a ball that would work best on medium to light oil. Although I felt that this ball was very condition specific which limited how often I could use it, I liked that the 2Fast gave me more length and had great back end action. Of all of my equipment my 2Fast is the one that typically gives me my largest margin for error. With great reaction and recovery my 2Fast had the largest area of play resulting in pocket shots although I may have missed my mark.


 


I would typically bring out my 2Fast later in the day while at tournaments after the lanes had been broken down a substantial amount. As soon as I was able to use the 2Fast, however, playing up 5 would give me a smooth transition with arcing/angular back end reaction and great pocket shots. Overall I am grateful that I do have the 2Fast because it is fantastic once the shot has broken down and I need a consistent and reliable reaction from my equipment.

This ball certainly lives up to its name! The STORM 2Fast, featuring the well-known R2S coverstock, is the “polished” brother to the 2Furious with the same core. I had this ball drilled long, and it provides for a very smooth, nearly linear glide to the breakpoint, whereupon it snaps back with so much force that it is almost impossible not to carry.


 


On medium-length and broken-down patterns, this ball performs very well. Even when the heads are dry and the back-end is flooded, the 2Fast will continue to provide a consistent, powerful flip-and-roll action that will cause jaws and pins to drop. The only time I would not recommend this ball is on shorter conditions, where the 2Fast is likely to hook too early and go through the face.

The Storm 2Fast is one of the most versatile balls that Storm makes. It has the ability to play on early/wet shots with it's surprisingly great midlane read while at the same time able to still finish strong when moving inside in late/dry conditions. The combination of the core and coverstock make this a HOT ball which can fit in anyone’s arsenal. Whether you are someone who guides the ball to the pocket or someone who rips the cover off the ball, the 2Fast is a great choice. Combining this with Storm's other ball in the HOT line, the 2Furious, you can have a solid arsenal that will be able to stand up to nearly any shot you will encounter, whether league shot, or tournament condition.

Likes: The Storm 2Fast is a smooth, control ball.  It's very clean through the heads and makes a controlled move off the breakpoint.  If you like that type of reaction, you will be very happy with this ball.  If you have a good amount of side rotation, you will see decent and controlled board coverage with this ball.  Some will find that it can be first ball out of the bag to tell you what's happening.  While this may not represent what has become the more typical "backend" reaction from Storm, many who have had trouble controlling the other equipment will come to like this ball a lot.  Our tests showed this ball is actually weaker overall than the original Fast and Tropical Heat Hybrid.  It's simply because it is smoother at the breakpoint than either ball.  I think you will like this ball reaction when the lanes breakdown or on lighter volume shots.  This ball never seems to overreact.
