X-Factor Vertigo
« on: December 31, 1969, 06:00:00 PM »
If you need a ball for oily lanes, the Vertigo™ is the one! STORM™ has incorporated a newly-formulated SFA™ coverstock, scuffed to an 800-grit matte finish, which maintains high-performance standards over time. On a heavily oiled pattern with moderate carry-down, the Vertigo™ revs up strong in the mid-lane and makes a dramatic turn at the break point. Don’t take it from us, experience it for yourself. You’ll be surprised with the backend reaction this ball produces despite the dull surface. Or polish the Vertigo™ up to 1500-grit to increase the backend “snap”! The pin action of the newly designed asymmetrical RAD3 weight block combined with the equally new SFA™ coverstock, will make your head spin!

Vertigo # 1.

I drilled the ball 4 1/2 x 4 3/4 pin up 2 o-clock from ring with the mas bias next to thumb and weight hole just above my pap (5 1/2 x 1/2 up). Well, I didn't like the reaction so I had it plugged then redrilled 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 pin down under ring with a small 3/8 x 3 1/2 hole 5 over and 7/8 inch down. I really like this drilling a lot more! With some polish, it goes a little longer and turns pretty good on the backend. With some slight surface it reads a little sooner but still has a strong move to the pocket.

Vertigo # 2

I just picked up my second vertigo off from ebay for $130 shipped. It had a 2 5/8 inch pin with 2 3/4 top weight. I wanted this ball to go a little longer and still have a strong move to the pocket. So, I drilled it 5 1/2 x 4 5/8 pin above bridge mas bias next to thumb and cg just under ring finger. Because of the lower top weight I didn't need to add a hole. The ball came with 800 grit sand from the factory but I changed that to 360 abralon sanding both ways to freshen up the surface then did 1000 abralon against track and with track, then 4k abralon against track and then with the track and left it at 4k. With the current surface the ball actually didn't go as long as what I thought, but revved up nice in the midlane and made a strong but smooth move to the pocket. No matter how much I get around the side of the ball, it will not snap. I am loving this ball the more I get to throw it!!

COMMENTS

Likes: Ball is still going.  Kept up with the care and maintenance of this ball over the years.  Still has life left in it, and continues to have a good back end hook.

Dislikes:  Starting to crack around the fingertips.
