El Niño 2000
« on: December 31, 1969, 06:00:00 PM »
The El Nino 2000 features the Storm Accu-Tread coverstock material with TDR particles along with a DOUBLE LOAD of Mica added to the formula for an all new PRO-Thane Pearl. The new PRO-Thane Pearl coverstock is cleaner through the heads than the original PRO-Thane, gives a good mid-lane read for less over-under and produces exceptional energy on the back end of the lane for devastating pin action. Matched to this new PRO-Thane Pearl cover is an all new Motion Control weight block with Vertical Dual Density for built in mass bias. This Motion Control weight block constitutes medium rg (2.53) with sound differential (.060) for impressive track flare potential assuring strong recovery and outstanding back end reaction. The specifications are: Factory Finish: 1500-grit Polished; Radius of Gyration: 2.53 (Medium); Differential: .060 (High); Hook Potential: 20/18 (Dull/Shiny); Weight Block: Tri-Density Motion Control Weight Block; Coverstock: Red/Gold two-color PRO-Thane Pearl Particle; Hardness: 76-78; Length: 6 on a scale of 1-10; Back end: 10 on a scale of 1-10; Flare Potential: High (6" plus); Hook Potential: 20/18 (Dull/Shiny) on Storm's scale of 1-20; Recommended Lane Condition: Medium to Heavy Oil.

I've had this ball for about 7 months now so I felt it's time to give a review on this ball. This ball has a pin 3" from the Eye, and the pin is about 1/2" down and a little bit to the right from the ring finger. Hands down the best ball I have ever thrown by Storm. This ball shot me all of my 700 series to this point(6). I've made my local paper's top scores about 4 or 5 times, and it is still going strong. If my new er is not doing the job, this is my go to ball becasue I know I can count on this ball to do the job. I give this ball a 10 out of 10. If you don't have this ball, GET THIS BALL BEFORE THEY DISCONTINUE IT! You won't be dissappointed. Trust me. Another great ball by Storm!

I am a 195 bowler who was in a slump last year when I bought this ball. Slump immediately disappeared. I bowled 6 250 games in a month bowling just one night a week. IT gaives me a good strong rolling ball early which allows me to play deep inside and make a good corner  and have enough to carry the corners on medium to heavy oil conditions.  on drier lanes it tends to lose energy too ealry and cause some  corner pins.  Many other with it contend after a while it stops hooking but I  keep mine maintained regularly as I bake the oil out and keep it resurfaced and  works great for its intended conditions.

I am also starting my 2nd season with the El Nino 2000. I am above avg. rev player and my ball is drilled with the pin above the finger holes which I believe is to increase the backend. I bowl in a house with very dry backends and need the oil carrydown to have the ball react well. It's a very good performer but the 2nd ball gets used.

The El Nino 2000 is a good ball when you have a weak drilling pattern on it. When it's drilled weaker it gets down the lane and makes a nice smooth backend reaction into the pocket and creates a great enrty angle and great carry. When I drilled the ball stronger, my opinion totally changed. The 2000  then started up in the heads it seemed like and did the good old roll out and it lead to 10's all night long. So as far as the 2000 goes, drill it weak its good, drill it strong its not good at all.

My stats:
Right Handed Tweener
15.0 to 16.5 mph (typically, but dependant on shot)
Above avg. Hand

Likes: Turns the corner great. Gets through the head really well for a particle. Reads the lane well, making a good benchmark ball.

Dislikes: Squirty in long oil and carry down. If it doesn't find a dry board it will leave a lot of corners.

I picked up one of these about two years ago from Storm.  The El Nino 2000 is a great ball to keep in your bag. It gets down the lane very well for a particle ball and has a nice hard arc to it which throws pins around at will. If your looking for a ball for very heavy oil I wouldn't recommend this one, but if you want a ball for the first game or two on a house shot this one can get the job done. This one is good on medium-heavy to medium conditions, but you'll have to move in deep with a lot of ball speed or weak release to throw this one when the heads start to dry up. This one is usually the first one out of my bag, because of it's great ball reaction, and it reads the lane so well. If your looking for all around performance you can't go wrong with this one. Overall, I will give this one a 9 out of 10. Another great job by Storm.

I have this ball drilled out with a slightly modified storm front lay out with the thumb hole just over the mc2. This ball is my all purpose primary ball. I'm a cranker with mid to high revs and medium ball speed. This ball NEEDS OIL though. You can not expect to play this one in anything light and on the extreme end, I don't recommend use in heavy oil. I match it up best with the typical league conditions in a medium house condition yet its very useful in many of the middle conditions. I have had nothing but good results with this ball. I can always seem to find the pocket with somewhere around 2-5 boards of leeway..just depending on the lanes. There is no mistaking that this ball WILL rip through the pocket but I can't not completely recommend this ball to everyone. Most people I have seen with this ball in my leagues struggle with it because its a bit much for them or they drill it weak so they don't get much use out of it. The local guy who drills all of my equipment did not like his either. If drilled right for the person this ball will be a true keeper in the storm line...if not u'll wanna junk it. My personal opinion about this ball....definite 10 out of 10 for me.

Drilled 4x5, ball goes quite long with very strong move on the back. Not a good ball for heavy oil with oil in length. Works good on wet dry.

this is my old ball. i moved up to 15 so i had to stop using this but man, this ball has some juice. the only problem is this is drilled the way i dont like my balls drilled (pin next to ring, cg in the palm) because it rolls over me thumb and my other balls dont. i shot high on mostly medium to dry surfaces. in other words narrows.... it has a lot of games but it still takes off. on a scale of 1-10 i would give a 8.

im 12..
average is around 190-200
shot 289 on a sport league.
won all stars
my balls are: White Dot black silver caramel,
Monster Frenzy
X-Factor Duece.....all 15lbs

I have had this ball for awhile, and have loved the balls hitting power so much, that when the cover started to die, I plugged it and now use it for drier conditions.  I originally had it with the CG at the edge of my palm, with the pin kicked up and out.  This could tackle any heavy oil I encountered, until the cover started to die.  I've had the ball since it was new, and with using the ball frequently since 2000, I figured 4 good years out of the cover wasn't bad at all.  I contemplated getting rid of the ball, since I had replaced it with a few hook-in-a-box bowling balls (since the cover had started to go the way of tie-dye), but I just couldn't bring myself to part with the hitting power of this ball.  So I just recently plugged the ball, and lined up the CG in the middle of my palm, with the pin RIGHT ABOVE my bridge.  WOW!!!  Now this ball has even better hit, while now being able to be thrown on drier conditions.  I wasn't sure if a control drilling would save this ball from retirement, but it did.  I pulled it out the other night on second shift, when everything else took a right hand turn at the arrows, and could easily play a small swing with this ball. Shoot 223 257 the last two games, when everyone else were struggling for 190-200's.  All in all, this ball is one of the best hitting balls I have ever thrown.

Still use this ball and it still continues to work for me.

I am a stroker with medium revs. Right handed and I don't use my thumb.

What I like: How it can grip the lanes like no other reactive. It always seems to stay on (its more forgiving then some other balls out there, so every now and then if you mess up your shot you might be able to recover from it)

What I don't like: Sometimes it can be unreliable. You can get it in the pocket the first shot but then the next shot it doesn't want to budge. Doesn't happen very often but I'm starting to see more of it than before.

Overall great ball and still brings me high scores.
