Better late than never, but I finally got a chance to drill my new Storm Fast.  I placed the pin 4 inches from my PAP and the CG 4 3/8 inches from my PAP.  This places the pin to the right and slightly below my ring finger and places the CG right of the centerline and just below the midline.  I have an extra hole on my PAP.
I chose this layout because I expected more of a skid/flip reaction than my T-Road Pearl but wanted to lessen the length a tad.
I have only been able to use it on our house shot on old Brunswick synthetics, but I wished I could have drilled this ball before I left Las Vegas.  Oh well, at least I have it now.
What impressed me most is how clean this ball is through the front part of the lane.  Only in the most burnt up part of the heads did it want to check up early.  The change of direction down the lane is a bit too sharp for my tastes,(others will ove it), but a 4000 abralon pad gave me the shape I really like.  This did not make the Fast lose the cleanliness through the front part of the lane.  I dont expect this to be the first ball out of my bag, but once I see some carrydown, it will come out to play.  I am sure I will still want to try it as the first ball out of the bag because there are times when my ego likes to see the ball change direction quickly.

Pattern: THS approx 40' with a lot of friction outside of 10
Bowler: See profile for specs
Ball: 15#, 3.5" inch pin, out of box finish
Layout: 5" pin to pap (well above ring finger), 2" buffer to VAL, CG 4" left of pap below ring finger, finger holes drilled deep to remove excess finger weight
Balance hole: none

When I learned that the Fast coverstock was the original T-Road Pearl with the Street Rod core, my first thought was, "I wonder if that reaction will remind me of the original Eraser."  You know what...........it does...and that's a good thing!

The reaction I've gotten with my FAST has put skid/flip back in my arsenal.  As much as I liked my T-Road Pearl I usually felt like it was a little too early and smooth.  It worked great when I played near the gutter but moving inside 15 was tough.  The Fast gets down the lane very easily for me and when it makes that sharp turn toward the pocket it is quick, decisive, and continuous.

Using the Fast when the pattern is fresh there is usually too much over/under for me from left to right so I don't have the room I need to keep that high avg.  That is true in my weekly league and was also the case in a recent SASBA tourney where we usually compete on a high-scoring environment.  However, in that tournament and sometimes in league, many bowlers are using "oil balls" early and the pattern breaks down big after a few games.  Each time I've been in those situations since drilling the Fast I've been able to switch from the Virtual Energy to the Fast and find a better line 'FAST.'

Excellent ball to change to once the Hy-Road becomes too strong for the oil condition or if the heads dry out. Found it to be very useful at the end of tournament blocks. The fast is a very versatile ball when its surface is modified. If the oil volume is very high, just a mild scuff with a scotch brite or abralon pad will bring the surface up to what is needed and the ball will finish even stronger if necessary. Its also very strong when going up the lane, it isn't too over-reactive so that it can be played up the boards without an issue.

Have not owned a storm ball since the eraser blaze. Bowled in college and we were sponsored by Columbia at the time. Drilled mine stack-leverage with low hole. (right handed). Ball rolls absolutely amazing, goes long with good pop off the backend. Threw it on carried down US open shot, and carried down THS. Both patterns did not effect the ball roll, this ball was clean through the heads and had plenty of energy to shred the pins. This might be the beginning of a beautiful relationship...........

i have been struggling with low ball speed and dry lanes so i needed something that would get down the lanes and have good recovery. I had been using a polished rising but it was just a bit to unpredictable unless the shot was really scorched.
got a fast this summer and just had it drilled. Pin left of middle finger and up, 6.5inch pin to pap. Longest pin i have ever played with .this ball rocks. It has oustanding backend and really allows me to open up the lanes. I can swing it and know its coming back if needed or if i have to I can play it straight and wait on it to find friction ,when it does its sucked into the pocket like a marble thru a vortex.

Pin carry is awesome. Very few splits ,but so many trip 4's and 6 7 10's looks like i had a stick in my pocket. I am really glad i decided to drill it and doubly glad i decided to drill it weak . Strong might be too much for me to play where i bowl.Very versatile ball .If you can adjust to lane changes this might be the only ball you need for league night . I even shot a few games with it on a sport shot and it was only 3 boards left of where i was playing my vg.
May not be a typical dry lane ball but i think it gives any pearl a run for the money

I got this ball as to be my dry lane backup ball when my Rapid Fire Pearl would overhook, but as funny as it came to be, this is my biggest hooking ball yet LOL.. I guess you really do get more hook for little money from this line of bowling balls. This ball smells like Twizzlers Nibs, with that cherry fragrance, and it is an awesome ball. Because it smells like cherry and the pin action is so amazing, I call it the Cherry Bomb. I use it mainly for practice, maybe it hadn't been 20 games yet, but the majority of my games using this ball had been over the 220s...I don't know why I don't use it for leagues LOL

Storm Fast - 55 x 4.5" x 45
My PAP is 4 1/4" over, 3/4" up.

For me this ball is pretty smooth. I do not know what my rev rate is but I would call myself a speed dominant bowler. I currently have the ball at 2000 abralon with powergel polish.  Ball has great recovery and carry. The house I bowl at the most has new  guardian synthetic overlay, so I don't get a chance to throw the fast until the 3rd game.
With this layout the ball reads a little earlier and is smooth at the break point.

WOW!  What a versatile ball!  The only thing that troubles me is how/why Storm classified this ball as a medium/light oil ball??  From this bowlers perspective, this ball will hold its own in any lane conditions, with the exception of "light oil" conditions.  I can release it with a completely flat hand in light oil and get by, but then why use it???  Bottomline, I love this ball but was very dissapointed when I purchased it for light/medium, but ended up with a great heavy/medium ball with a super backend angle.

Thanks Storm

I really like this ball. It is a really good ball to have when the lanes start to break down.
