Drill specs
70 degree with 50 degree MB
5 inch pin over the middle finger
Slight gloss over surface with 4000 abralon

This bowling ball has a very clean move through the front part of the lane, and as everyone that watched the World Championship, it has a nice move off the spot that would allow a person to not worry about the over-reaction from the dry.

I have thrown this ball on Anvilane, Guardian, and decent wood surface and have gotten the same clean reaction through the heads. On Anvilane, I had to square up a bit, but when this ball got to the dry, it made the move and drove so smooth through the pins. On Guardian and Wood, I had to go more left to right with moves in as the night went on, but the moves wasnt hops arrows, it was basic 2 and 2 moves, with the occasions angle of the shoulders to open up the lane.

One of the encouraging things about this ball, and Im not sure if it has to do with the Hy-brid cover, from which I wasnt a fan of in the Secret Agent (despite having my highest set ever with it, 877), is the way that the ball keeps the pin low to the floor. The mix that this ball gets is very nice, especially for higher rev players, from which I wouldnt consider myself one of. Despite that, it still hits very nice.

Bowlers on regular house conditions will like this ball, because it wont over-read the dry, and depending on the rev rate with need to make adjustments accordingly to match-up. Tournament players will love the easy move this ball makes through the front part of the lane, which is essential on most tournament patterns.

initial review...
i left the ball with oob surface. drilled it 4 x 3(cg) with 2 pin buffer, pin is up and to slightly right of ring finger..

conditions used THS(drier side of THS)

the hyroad was to strong to use the first game. i tried getting lined up with it in practice and it was to early at this point. i tried 15 to 7 and moved 20 to 10, i could get to the pocket but it was burning up to early..i put it up till the 5th frame of 2nd game..at this point i got a good look 20-10, the ball was smooth and jerking or quiting. i had some carrydown, tug would hold and miss right would still recover at hit...i had to chase oil last game but carry remained great..i go 236 and 264 last 2 games with hyroad..i would compare this ball with my cell pearl which is drill 5x3(mb) with 2.5 pin buffer with pin up...the hyroad looks to be able to handle oil a tad better but it is hybrid so that is to be expected..overall im very pleased with the hyroad, i can see using this ball on med to med heavy or slightly longer patterns..i will update after more games...

My thursday league I bowl in is a scratch league and the oil pattern we bowl on is the 2007 USBC pattern.
The layout I put on the HY-ROAD was a 4X4 pattern with a height hole 1" short of the PAP. With box finish
I am left-handed and have a lot of hand and ball speed.
Thursday night I was able to use the HY-ROAD all night I started playing straight up 5, and as the night went on I was albe to keep the same breakpoint but just keep moving my feet board by board in.
The reaction I got was extremely nice! The ball was very clean through the heads and with a smooth move through the mid-lane, and a nice strong arc through the back-end.
One thing in particular I did like about this ball is when it hits, it keeps the pins low.
The HY-ROAD is a very clean reacting ball, and has a smooth roll.
It does excatly what STORM says it does. Has the reaction of a T-ROAD pearl (clean in the front part of the lane) and a T-ROAD solid (strong arc on the back-ends).

Knowing that this ball was designed to fit between the solid and pearl I drilled it close to my pearl. The pin just over the bridge with the cg straight down from that in the mid-grip. I was hoping to get a similar motion with this layout that I had from the pearl.

It was exactly what I hoped for. It reminds me alot of the Paradigm in that it doesn't over-hook off the dry and it keeps the pins low to the deck. It sounds cliche, but it does exactly what the testing said it should. It will be a benchmark ball for alot of styles. It gives you great midlane control with a strong motion through the pin deck.

Now, the promised Hy Road review...

Drilled mine 4x5 with the pin above/left of the ring finger, CG just left of grip center.

On Cheetah, laid down on HPS surface, this ball absolutely screamed off the dry, stronger than either Rapid Fire, stronger than Gravity Shift, stronger than a Domination. Obviously, on this pattern, lots of pearl shells were in use.

I was amazed that this ball flared so much, almost 6" which is a bunch given my hand challenged state. . About halfway into the block, I went to tamer stuff and managed to steal a check.

On the house china last night, the first thing I noticed was I was 4-5 boards right of where I usually start at Allen Bowl (worn wood surface) and even then, this ball started up in the mids and gave me a huge, continuous movement to the pocket. So continuous, I left four SMASH ten pins (remember, I'm a lefty) and still shot 298/793.

This is a monster ball at this price point and acts so much stronger than it's T-Road Solid/T-Road Pearl core would suggest. I strongly recommend the Hy-Road to anyone looking to add some muscle to their arsenal at a reasonable cost.

Drilled mine with my fav/most used layout...

pin left of and below middle finger
CG 1/2" right and 1/2" below center of grip

love the motion, but a little too much ball for the THS down here in sunny FL. never had a T Road or the pearl, but have seen them go down the lanes a lot. it gets through the heads pretty good (just like every ball with the "S" lable). i do like how it does keep the pins lower to the deck. send it right and it will come back, but not so strong that it burns up energy.
have not had the chance to toss it down a harder shot just yet... will post thoughts on that another day.

i'm a high rev player, 17 mph, 380-400 rpm and i have 13dg of axis tilt.

i drilled this ball 60dg 5"x40dg knocked surface down to 4000 abralon, no weight hole... this ball is exactly what storm wanted it to be. it can handle a decent amount of oil, and is very smooth and sharp of the point. used it on a "house shot" and shot 256 1st game out of the box, when backends opened up, was a perfect transition to my favorite ball (rapid fire pearl). then threw ball on tournament shot, pretty dry between track areas and oily outside, the ball rollled great, had miss and recovery area to the oil and smooth enough to get down the lane in the dry.

great ball for someone looking to open up the lane and get great consistancy and strong continuous motion off the spot.

Storm's new hybrid is very impressive. I had the chance to use it last weekend in a regional here in Vegas. I bowled on the Scorpion pattern which is 41ft. I had bowled on it before but this time was able to use the Hy-road from out around 3-4 and the ball was unreal. It cleared the heads easily but when it got to the mid-lane its heavy smooth roll was great and it allowed me to play the pattern to my advantage. I had a look that no other Lefty had and I truly believe that if I hadn't punched out that ball things may have been alot different? The fact that you have the pearl cover thru the front and a HEAVY rolling ball in the mids is great,actually the ball is the perfect BENCHMARK ball.

Once again Storm has hit a home run with this ball congrats, I am looking forward to thowing the Virtual Gravity which seams to be on TV every week.

One last note my layout for the Hy-road was as follows 4x3 pin under ring x hole down.

I drilled a Hy-Road strong, (6 3/4 half way between my VAL and track) with the pin in my ring finger, and balance hole 1" down my VAL. (15lbs., pin 3-3.5 with 2.8oz top)
One thing about my release and ball roll, is that every hybrid ball that I drill has a tendance to not do what it is advertised to do. Examples, the Hot Rod hybrid for me hooked all over the lane, and this ball was for drier conditions. The Sure fire for me was a "TON" stronger than the Spitfire, and this ball was supposed to give me more control on more oil. The Secret Agent for me went longer than all the other Agents, with a very smooth backend (it ended up being my benchmark ball). All of those bowling balls were great balls for me (I drilled 2 hybrids, 2 surefires, and 4 secrets), just not what I expected based on advertisements.
With that said, I drilled the Hy-road with no expectations as to ball roll or characteristics. What I ended up with is a ball that is "AS ADVERTISED"!!! The Hy-Road glides through the front of the lane like the pearl, reads the midlane like the solid, and then finishes very strong like the pearl. This a very unique reaction on the left side of the lane, as we do not have as much breakdown in the fronts, or as much carrydown in the backends. This ball will see the lanes when I need to go straighter up the boards, on flatter patterns. I have used it in a few different houses, as well as with a few different surface adjustments, and have found that this ball is the strongest of the T-Road line. This ball will be the first ball out of the bag when the scores are very low, and keeping the ball in play is a priority. The easy length through the fronts is a bit much for most house conditions in my area (most of the centers use a ton of oil in the middle with bone dry outsides). I use lower RG balls to get into a roll and stay in the oil, and away from the screaming outsides.
The Hy-Road will be in my bag at tournaments. This will be my go to ball when the lanes play a little flat, and there isn't alot of hold. I also see this ball as being a great wood lane ball, as it will clear old wood heads easier than a solid, but not skate through the middle of the lane the way a pearl may on fresh oil.

Please note, I use 15lbs, so those who throw 16lbs may see different results, as 16 has a lower RG, and higher diff. than 15lbs in the T-Road line.

15lbs.= 2.57 RG, .046 diff.
16lbs.= 2.52 RG, .058 diff.

Here's another ball that I tested yesterday at Your Bowling Center in Douglasville, GA and once again thanks to Steve Todd and Ralph Solan. My pap is listed in my profile and the first Hy-Road that I rolled had the pin above the ring finger and the cg stacked below the ring finger. This lay out didn't match up to my style of play and I normally don't use a pin above the ring finger, because of my low track (pap 37/8"> x 15/16"^)and it creates to much length for my style of play. Then Steve went and got me a Hy-Road he had just drilled that had the pin below the bridge with the cg stacked below, just above the thumb. After getting the grips in and the thumb I rolled 13 strikes in a row then left a 7 pin. I was joking with Steve and my friend Ricky Woods who made the road trip with me that it was only good for 13 strikes. I made a hand adjustment and rolled 5 more strikes. I was standing 18 and rolling out to 7 and had miss room to the right and left, I was standing 24 with the Virtual Gravity. This lay out is awesome and can be used on a lot of conditions. It's very clean through the heads and makes a real nice strong arc to the pocket! As always another great release from the brands in Utah, Bruce

This is my new bench mark ball. This is a great ball. I drilled mine up with a 5x4.5 layout. 3.5 inch pin added a weighthole next to the thumb to take out all thumb weight. This ball was extremely smooth. The HY-ROAD produced a heavy roll that continued through the pins easily. For me this ball is like a spit fire on steroids. It will roll up a little earlier but makes the same type of move. If you liked the spit fire and need something to handle a little bit more oil or make a move a little sooner then look no further. The hyroad is great. Utah keeps producing more and more great products.

Good Golly Miss Molly, this ball is a great release from the guys at Storm. I picked it up this weekend and had it drilled for length and a to make a strong arc to the pocket and this is exactly the reaction I got from the ball. My HyRoad is 15 lbs, 2.25 top weight, 2.5 - 3.0 pin. The drilling layout is pin above ring finger, CG right of mid-line, with no weight hole.

I tried this ball last night on fresh THS shot and played the 2nd arrow and saw perfect length up to the breakpoint and then a strong arc with continuous drive through the pin deck. I shot 224, 246, 256 with the ball in OOB surface. This is an excellent benchmark ball which I'm really going to enjoy having in the arsenal. I can see why the guys out on tour are so high on the HyRoad and why it will be a good match for all styles of bowlers. Highly recommend you try this one out.

Layout: 5x4x2 (1/2 finger, 1/2 side) hole 4 1/2 across
Style: 18.6 mph â€“ plenty of those RPM things
Surface: Took the factory shine off with Bowling Concepts Clean N Dull and then hit it with Track Clean â€˜N Sheen (itâ€™s still shiny)

WARNING: This ball is the truth!

I have been awaiting for the second coming of a ball similar to the Hot Rod Hybrid and it has arrived! What makes this ball special is how smooth it glides through the fronts, yet it does not skate through the midlane in search of the backend. This ball is a great blend of the solid and pearl version as it does not need a ton of oil to scoot and it does not make the hockey stick motion down the lane.

The first week I had the ball, it did not have the hole since my driller and I were rushing to make league. I liked the reaction but it was erratic, turns out it had 7/8 finger and 15/16 side. WHOA! By adding the weight hole, the ball became a lot more stable and now does not flare the whole ball in all direction. SHEW! Now what I have is a ball that reads the mids yet does not go sideways down the laneâ€¦PERFECT!!! Normally I am greeting my friend â€œMr. Solid 9â€, so far, the ball enters the pocket and keeps the pins down and going backwards! The carry has been tremendous with this ball the three outings I have used it. In 9 games, I have seen 9 or 10 strikes on the board multiple times.

So far, this nugget has seen a 44 foot house shot (house does not strip on our league night, mucho carry down) and a house running a 44ft well-maintained top hat that has plenty of friction out. This ball is proving itâ€™s not afraid of a little oil or a little friction.

Take the "Hy-Road" and get your butt to the pro shop to get one!!!
