Well this is my first review of a ball so here ya go:

Drill:

  0 0
   0-pin

      x cg
   0

This ball has pretty much become my goto ball anywhere I bowl.  Ive used it only on synthetic surfaces and as some of the other reviews you have read, this ball does not disappoint. The balls cover is still in factory finish so it still does get down the lane very well considering the way its drilled.  The backend motion is continuous but controlled.  I do know that this ball takes very well to cover adjustments and the motion you desire can be found by doing that.  I think Storm has a real winner in the Hyroad and can be a compliment to anyones game regardless of revrate or speed.

Thanks Storm for another great release.

My Hy-Road is drilled 4 1/2" x 4" and no weight hole. Has box finish on it. With this layout, the ball has a very strong backend and gets through the fronts with ease. It revs up fast and hard once it hits the friction and its very continuous through the pins. This ball layout is extremely versatile and is able to play virtually any part of the lane. I have only thrown this ball on synthetic surface so far and it reacts very well. I have thrown it on various oil patterns from short to long, including the PBA Cheetah pattern. Always has a smooth and controllable backend even when the oil is broken down. It is very durable and shows no signs of dying out! It is a go to ball.

Storms Hy-Road is by far my favorite Storm product! This ball is drilled with the pin over the middle finger with an approximate swing of 30 degrees to the right of the grip line. (5” X 4”) The continuous and very strong motion of the ball makes it the best in my bag! The surfaces I use on this ball are unique to any others in my bag. I start off with a 2000 abralon pad to get a great even surface, and then after the surface is applied I polish over the surface. The addition of the polish over the rough 2000 abralon surface makes this ball stronger within the oil and through the pocket. This ball is so strong off of the dry it’s scary! Makes the ball look like it’s through the pins before the pins are in the pit! Sometimes it can get you into trouble with the unpredictable move if you are on a sport or other than house shot. I would like to pick up another maybe even two more because this ball is so good! Not to mention its one of Storms lower priced balls which is great for any bowler!

I have two Hy-Roads with contrasting layouts. The weaker layout (4 1/2" x 4) has more shine, and gets through the heads better but is still strong and smooth in backend motion. The more aggressive layout (4 1/2" x 3 1/2, pin down, 7/8" X-hole 2" below PAP on VAL) gets into a roll sooner, and has a much better reaction on the fresh. The ball carries and rolls amazing. I wouldn't leave home without it!

My Storm Hy-Road has a layout of 4 1/2" x 4.  My Hy-Road has exceptional roll and length. I have found that I can use this ball on most lane conditions, especially on shorter lane as well as medium volume lane conditions. It’s the first ball out of my bag and I know based on it’s reaction if I should throw something more aggressive like my Storm Dimension or something less reactive like my Storm Rapid Fire or T-Road Pearl.  But all in all this is my favorite Storm release and most recommend ball.

4" x 3"

Talk about hooking off the spot.  This ball is definitely one of my favorites.  My Hy-Road recovers in the mid-lane better than any ball in my back while still retaining a strong back-end reaction.  In league play it generates a strong reaction and creates room by itself.  Creating angle is the name of the game with the Hy-Road.  Typically you won’t find this ball being played directly as it has a heavy reaction.

When it comes to carry this ball hits so hard that if you’re on target you don’t have to worry about the corners.  This ball is definitely good in medium to heavy oil conditions.

I suggest this ball for players who have issues getting their equipment to read the lane consistently while still being powerful.

This ball is wonderful. I usually throw it from medium to heavy oil conditions it gets down the lane very well with a very strong backend.  It is the first ball out of my bag, and can always tell if I need to switch to something stronger or weaker.  The ball is laid with a 4" x 3", with a box finish.

I love this ball.  The Hy-road gets down the lane and hooks in the back end.  I use this ball after the track opens up a little bit and gets to the pocket when my stronger balls cannot.

My Hy-road is laid out 4x3 with the pin under my middle finger and a 7/8 inch x-hole on my VAL below my PAP.

(LAYOUT) I laid this ball out at 90 degrees with a 5 1/2" pin from my axis.
(SURFACE) I have it at 1000 Abralon with polish
(CONDITIONS) This Review is on our THS and some shorter sport patterns.

Kind of generic with the layout i know but i wanted to test this balls cover more than anything. I'm getting about 4" track flare on our THS so the core isn't working to hard but the cover brought this ball back from the weeds everytime. I really liked the shot shape cause i like to bend it a little and i could definitely do just that. I bowled 1 full set with it and usually i cant throw balls this long and stong in the fresh but the HY-ROAD gives me confidence that its not gonna squirt through or stop short of the breakpoint. For the whole set i moved a total of about 8 left on the approach and 3 left at the arrows with the same breakpoint ALL NIGHT LONG!! That excites me cause i can't usually stay in the same place down there for more than a game or so. Finished the set with 289 - 778. (OVERALL on THS) I think that if you can find a layout that will get you through the front part of the lane without restricting this ball's flare potential , I think you will be a big fan of this ball on any upcoming house patterns.

I have the ball at 1000 with polish because i wanted to get rid of that "Hey, im turning on my left blinker!" motion and it did the job. Now i can get a slightly less drastic change of direction on most of the shorter PBA patterns ie Viper-Cheeta-Chameleon, and a couple of Kegel patterns thats were 36 to 38 feet and pretty flat all around.

(OVERVIEW) All in all i can see this ball in the hands of a variety of players . High speed low rev players will have some trouble unless you have some built in friction but other than that i see this release being a hit for a while to come.

Bowler: Zack Faust
Average: 194
Layout: 5 1/2 x 3 layout
Surface: 1500 Polish (Box)
Lane: Synthetic THS

My intention of this ball was to get a strong arcing motion out of the ball. I ended up with one of the best balls Storm ever made. This is a great mid-priced ball. The ball has great hooking motion and is very predictable. I found that this is a great ball to use after my Storm Gravity Shift burns up the front part of the lane. Overall I can not be happier with the Storm Hy-road.

Drilled 2 Hy-Roads.
#1 Hy-Road was drilled with a 5 inch pin to PAP below fingers, cg 5 inches  from PAP stacked, no hole.  Surface is 1000 abralon with polish.  This is by far my most versatile piece of equipment in my bag.  Storm hit the nail on the head with this ball.  I can use this Hy-Road on just about any pattern except the most dry.  This drill as of lately is been my go to drill for predictability and a strong read on the lanes. With this drill and cover I can play up the lane, and also hook it without hesitation.
#2 Hy-Road is drilled with a 5 and 3/8 Pin to PAP, cg is 5 inches from PAP, no hole.  Surface is also 1000 abralon with polish.  This drill and surface prep was intended for when the lanes call for me to close down my angles,  play up the lane, and or play deep when the lanes really break down.  This ball really shines on PBA Viper and Cheetah when I need to stay to the outside part of the lane and play straighter angles, and also stay in the track on broken down house patterns.
Like I said earlier Storm hit the nail on the head with this ball. In my opinion this is the best all around ball to date.  You can use it shined up on drier lanes, or put surface on it to use on oil.  This ball still corners really well with a little surface.  This is a Bench mark ball.  It compliments every ball in my bag. If I had to bowl with just one ball and one ball only, it would be a Hy-Road.

I've had this ball about a month now and have thrown it on a THS as well as a house shot with extremely dry outsides. It is laid out something like this..
-----------
---00------
----*------
-----#--o-
----0------

The first THS had a fairly large volume of oil and allowed me to play a nice 15 to 10 bump shot.  This ball is extremely smooth through the breakpoint with great continuation.  It gives me a nice cushion area allowing me to miss a couple boards in either direction with hold or recovery.

The 2nd house leaves the outsides as close to completely bare as possible with some volume from 15 to 25.  Here, I am able to play it right through the middle of the lane and have it hold if it stays in the oil and not overreact when it grabs the dry.  I was able to just roll this ball and let it do the rest without having to give it any additional lift.

Overall, I am a fan of this ball and will most likely add some more Storm equipment to my arsenal as time goes on.  Also, thank you Storm for making a great product that helped me roll my 1st 300 game.

I have had this ball for about a month now, and it is by far one of the best balls I have thrown, it hits the pocket so hard, and it very agressive. I also have noticed how forgiving the ball is with my speed, when I throw it slower it still holds the pocket. This is a great ball.
