Layout: Pin 4 ½ inches from PAP Dual Angle: 45 degrees by 70 degrees. Axis 4 5/8”. Weight hole 1 ½ inches down VAL.

Lane Condition: House shot medium to heavy oil. Also the Cheetah pattern was used (you can check the video link below).

What type of hook? Very strong mid lane hook. This ball worked great on the Cheetah pattern.  Great overall ball for multiple lane conditions.

My first Hy-Road is kinder & gentler, this one is just pure muscle. The Thinder core really shines wrapped in the 50/50 skin. I have a T-Road pearl drilled the same and the pearl is more violent down the lane. The hybrid smooths the back down some thanks to it picking up a touch earlier. This ball has proven to be a great benchmark ball as it shows what the lanes are doing.

As stated in my 2D review, this ball can provide you the angle down the lane to alter your carry.

See profile for stats.

Lay Out: 4.5" from PAP at 45* PAP angle and 35* VAL angle. The pin ended up above and slightly right of my ring finger. I put a 7/8" - 2" deep weight hole on my VAL.

Surface: I used it box, then 2000abr by hand, then 4000abr by hand.

Purpose: To give myself a ball for medium to shorter distance patterns that read earlier in the midlane (41-39 ft) and house conditions that are starting to open up to the right slightly.

Initial Observations: I have thrown this on our house shot on Pro Anvillane and also on a tournament shot that was the US Open pattern on guardian/wood. On the house shots, the ball let me get right of the puddle in the middle more. I was able to keep on the edge of the friction and migrate left when needed. The minute I pinged a 10 pin, I just moved 2/1 or 3/2 left depending on how weak it hit the pocket. On the US Open pattern, this layout/surface let me get inside of the track and stay away from the OB outside of 7. I was also able tomove somewhat deeper with the ball until it started to lose energy and I had to go with something that reacted more downlane.

Final thoughts: With this layout, I get a controlled reaction in the mid lane than some om stronger, earlier "oilers". I may be able to shine this for dryer or shorter patterns where I want to take a more inside out approach to playing the lanes.

Additional Thoughts: To me this ball just keeps getting better and better no matter how I tweak the lay outs or surface. This is a really good ball if you need a piece that will ignore the fronts and pick up midlane/backend depending on layout and surface prep. This really is a work horse ball with a lot of versatility.

I have to admit I had my doubts when I was throwing it after I had it drilled.  I even called the Pro Shop guy down to the lane to have him watch me throw a couple shots, and asking if it could be tweeked to go longer with more snap....

But then I threw it in league and the reaction was perfect.  Has more than enough backend and an awesome midlane reaction, and very forgiving of missed shots.  This ball fits so many different lane conditions it would take me an hour to list.  Very versatile ball.

This ball is so strong "through the pin deck" resulting in amazing pin carry.

Drill one up you will be satisfied.

Out of the box, i HATED this ball.  didn't read the midlane well enough, was squirrely off oil and erradic off dry.  Since i wasn't really getting much use out of it, i decided to scuff the cover lightly with 2000 Abralon by hand, and see if that changed anything.  For me, it made all the difference in the world.  Now it reads the midlane very well, and make a more controlled yet still strong move off the spot.  I shot 300 over the summer playing 5th arrow on the left lane and outside 1st arrow on the right lane, so the ball is definately versatile.  No wonder its been a hit on tour with all sorts of different style players!

this is my take on the storm hy road

when i first got this ball it was totally un useable. it would skid the breakpoint because the polish on it was so high gloss..
now i have taken the surface on both hyroads i own down to 4000 and boy have these balls been number one in my arsenal..

ball 1 pin up over my bridge which is approximately 5 and a half from my pap
this ball goes very long and just rolls off the spot not a very big motion in the back very usuable during shots when u dont need so muich ball and just gettign to the pocket is not the hardest thing in the world

ball 2 is pin under my bridge about 5 inches away from pap
once again since the pin is further away from my pap this ball doesnt have the most flare potential but it is more then enough to get this ball going.
i use this ball as my benchmark ball for mostly every shot i throw on cause this ball just hits the pins harder then anything ive ever thrown. the pin low gets the ball rolling sooner then the pin up obviously but the far pin distance evens out the back end capabilities which lets me control the reaction of the ball with my hand

i love these balls both compliment each other very very well and has won me more then my money back for these gems i have 1 more of these in storage for a jic tourny ball or incase something happens to these other ones

i recomend this ball to any one who wants a even arcing ball with exceptional hit the only caution i throw out about this ball is it is bery tempermental in its out of box finish everyone should throw it a couple times and find a good surface that works for them and they willl not be sorry

I got this ball because everyone was using it, and I was able to realize how good of a ball it was.  The drilling on mine has the pin next to my ring finger, and the CG just a little bit to the right, and about 3.5-4 in. away.
At first I couldn't really throw the ball, because it was either too strong for the short, or would read too early on a house shot.  On sport, I could use it more on the Shark, or anything long or with a lot of volume.  I found a lot of success on patterns like these.  I was able to use it with success on the Shark, Scorpion, US Open, and longer Kegel patterns.  I used it in a college tournament this past weekend and was able to get inside with it, and found some good scores there.  It also created a little bit of miss room to the left because of the stronger layout.  This is a ball that everyone should have in their arsenal.

This ball is very versatile.  It is easy to play different lines with it, and it has controllable hook.  The hy-road drives through the pins hard, and it is a great ball to have to play on many different conditions.

I just began bowling with the hy-road about a week ago and i know this is going to be a long-term ball. It is so easy to control with continuous hook that leaves me feeling confident as soon as I release the ball. Everyone should definitely have on in their bag, keep it up storm !

I got this ball as my starter and it never fails to disappoint. As a slow, lo-rev bowler, this ball gives me a solid, reliable finish. Its a very ver versitile ball for long and short patterns alike.

The Storm Hy-Road is always the first ball out of my bag. The solid/pearl coverstock gives this ball a strong ball motion on heavier oil conditions that wont die out in the backend because of the pearl component. Overall i would recommend this ball to anyone because of its versatility and its controllable ball motion throughout the lane.

Im a Lefty tweener, with a med-high track, and high ball speed. I have my Hy-Road drilled pin under ring finger, cg kicked slightly to the left. The R2S hybrid cover combined the Modified Inverted Fe2 Technology core makes for one very versatile ball.  I can get up the boards with this ball, or play the swing if need be.  Excellent mid-lane control, with the never-ending backend movement.  This ball is a great choice as it only gets better with the more games you put on it.

I have a medium to high rev rate and speed from 17-18mph. The Hy-Road is my most versatile ball hands down. It is drilled to roll slightly early with continuous and controllable hook. The Hy-Road is the most powerful hitting ball I have owned to date which makes it even better that I can use it on any pattern that is thrown at me. Having a Hy-Road in your bag guarantees you a shot at any tournament or league you bowl in.

Great ball. This ball has a continuous strong back end drive thats controlled. has the smooth control of a solid ball and the power and drive of a pearl. can be used on more medium heavy to dry lanes.
