Had one of these a couple of years ago as my standard spare ball - I play with relative low speed, so that any lack of traction is welcome. At the time of release the ball was marketed as having an extra hard shell, and it came, IIRC, at a significantly higher price point than a standard polyester piece with a pancake core.
While the Ice Storm initially did its intended job well (esp. when continuously kept polished) and also looked good, the whole affair soon started to show its weak side: hard material is brittle, and after a while (IIRC two years of normal league play and training) the ball started to develop cracks around the finger holes and even the thumb, despite an insert. It literally started to fall apart, developing spider-web like crack patterns around the holes and losing material crumbles like security glass shards.
Not convincing to me, at least for the money I paid for the ball. Rather a flashy fashion item than a piece of durable sport equipment.
