Description:Storm Lights Out is in the Hot Sauce lineup. This ball is great to have on backup when the lanes start to breakdown. This ball is perfect in lower oil patterns because it has the R2S Hybrid/Pearl Reactive coverstock. The Storm Lights Out will definitely dim the competition.

Lights Out

Ball speed 17mph, 400 RPMs, layout: 65 x 6 x 25

When I decided to get the Lights Out, I had a definite missing piece in my arsenal at the low end. I felt that I was forcing my crossroad and victory road pearl late in tournaments where the conditions were calling for a low end high pin ball. So that’s what I got. This ball is amazing, it gets through the heads the cleanest I have ever experienced and has a very controllable strong backend move. This ball allows me to stay right longer because it is so clean through the front and also allows me to make a big jump left as it has no trouble making the corner when the track gets scorched. This ball is a must have for tournament bowlers that need a ball to help them get left late in the day. Storm has a winner here.

The Lights Out from Storm is a ball I was pleasantly surprised with. I always liked balls that get rolling early that somehow still glide through the heads. I am a straighter player that rolls it early, with an average ball speed. It is important for me not to fight the heads with early rolling balls. The Lights Out excels for me because even though it gets rolling early, the ball still goes down the lane very easily storing plenty of power for the pocket.

This ball fits in below my IQ Tour Pearl, and above my Freak’n Frantic, and Fringe, in my bag. I think if the Tropical Heat and the Hy-Road had a baby, it would be named the Lights Out. I have seen a few other people including non staffers throw this ball, and I really liked the way it reacted for everybody. Like the Freak’n Frantic, the Lights Out is another great value for its price point. If you have a little drier lane condition, or a shorter pattern, pick up this ball and shoot Lights Out!

   Do any of you remember the origional Fast and Furious!? I sure did! i had a case of each! those were my go-to balls a few years ago. If you liked either of those, you will definitely like this new Lights Out. It has the same engine as the Fast and Furious, and mix/hybrid of both of their coverstocks. This wonderful coverstock is known as the R2S Hybrid coverstock, which is also used on the extremely proven, Hyroad. That strong, yet clean through the front cover, with the perfect mid performance Turbine core.. There is absolutely nothing low end or entry level about this ball. It may be in a cheaper price point, but it gives you plenty of reaction. I drilled my Lights Out 65/4/40. The first night of use, this bad boy got me a 270 and back to back 300s. This ball was able to give me 5-6 inches of flare, which is more than enough to cover a wide variety of lane conditions. It was very clean theough the front, didnt over skid, and gave me a controllable, yet big backend move. Looks like we have yet another winner from Storm! Go down to your pro shop and check this ball out!

Because this ball has the Tropical Heat core and Hy-Road cover, I decided to drill it with the same layout as I used on my Hy-Road.  Because my Hy-Road is the first ball out of my bag and easily my favorite benchmark ball, I wanted something that would be a touch weaker but still make a very similar move after the Hy-Road began to make a dive or check up early.

I can’t say that I got exactly what I was after.  Even thought I pushed the pin above the fingers a bit higher than it is on my Hy-Road, I still didn’t get the length that I was wanting.  Thus far, this ball seems to want to roll a bit earlier than expected. 

That said, I’ve found a good spot in my lineup for the Lights Out.  It tends to be a bit earlier than the Hy-Road, but still finishes quite well.  I’ve had an opportunity to roll it on house patterns and Cheetah.  On the fresh house pattern, I was able to get inside and target around 15 and swing out to 7-8 and get it back to the pocket.  The carry was exceptional and overall reaction was quite controllable.

On Cheetah, I used it around game 4-5 of an 8 game block and it was smooth through the heads, but had a far stronger reaction that I really wanted.  The early roll made the ball react too strong off the end of the pattern.  If I backed off on my release, I could get a decent look to the pocket, but I wasn’t as comfortable overall.

For the price, I don’t know that there is a better ball on the market.  Plenty of bang for your buck!

BALL REACTION
The Lights Outâ„¢ marries the legendary R2Sâ„¢ hybrid cover wrapped around a proven stud, Turbineâ„¢ core. The cover was on the Hy-Roadâ„¢ and the core has been featured in the Fastâ„¢, Furiousâ„¢, Hot Rodâ„¢ and Street Rodâ„¢. Three holes, no bevel as usual and she was ready to roll!

This ball is smooth but it does have that get up and go off of the breakpoint. This ball gives me an orb that I can move left as the lane breaks down and just send it! What the cover adds is a better mid lane read than this core has seen with either a pure solid or pure pearl cover. The blending of the solid and pearl just helps this ball smooths things out just right.

If you want to use this ball early in the night, just drill it stronger than the layout I have on this one. I drilled a second one with a 4 ½ x 3 ¾ x 2 ¾ with the pin under the fingers for this exact reason. The second one allows me to start with it on the fresh with an early enough read to see the pattern.

This ball will be missed out by many as it is not a premium priced ball but this ball gives you a lot of bang for the buck. The Lights Outâ„¢ is a great choice for a player looking for a less expensive performer or those more serious bowlers who can appreciate a good reacting ball.

Layout is with pin just up/right of ring finger and cg just under and left of ring finger

           Out of the box this ball rolled way earlier than expected, it read the midlane so fast is was almost unbelievable.  That being said, I shined it up and wow did it make a difference. The Lights Out may be one of the best "bang for your buck" balls out on the market today. It is very continuous off the breakpoint, the ball wont roll out even if I try to force it to. I keep mine very shined and I find that this is my go to ball when the lanes get broken down and tough... It reads where no other ball reads yet stays continuous and drives through the pins. Good ball and highly recommended especially if you bowl where the shot transitions a lot or you have trouble getting a ball to read and be true to the lanes.
