Storm has introduced a groundbreaking innovation following the success of revered models like the !Q Tour and Phaze II. Enter the Storm Ion Pro, Storm Bowling's inaugural asymmetric benchmark ball. It sets a new standard for reliability, offering balanced performance across various lane conditions. Versatile and adaptable, it empowers bowlers to fine-tune their game without the need for multiple balls. With its inclusive design catering to every style and approach, the Ion Pro is a must-have addition to any bowler's arsenal. The Element Tour A.I. Core showcases a unique stacked ellipse design, positioning smaller ellipses at the ends of the X-axis and the widest ellipse at the central point of the Y-axis. Diverging from the cavity designs seen in the Crux™ and Absolute™, this configuration amplifies the dynamic shifts between different layouts. By centralizing mass with a focus on the largest ellipse at the ball's geographic center, the Element Tour A.I. Core achieves a lower RG, making it one of Storm's most strikingly low RG asymmetrical designs to date. In contrast to typical asymmetric weight blocks, where the thinnest portion generating asymmetry lies close to the Y-Axis, the Element employs a stairstep asymmetry approach. Despite the widest part being at the Y-Axis, each subsequent ellipse, though narrower, is offset, intensifying the asymmetry with every step. Finding a coverstock as dependable and adaptable as TX-16 is a challenge in itself. Initially introduced through the Phaze™ II, TX-16 has instilled unwavering confidence in bowlers worldwide over the years. In this hybrid rendition, it combines length and durability, offering a level of versatility that's seldom matched. The Ion Pro sets out to redefine the very essence of "benchmark" in bowling.

With all the hype around the debut of this ball after the success of the original IQ, who wouldn’t drill one? Mine is drilled pin down and does not disappoint. As advertised, a true controllable benchmark shape with added cornering power here. If you don’t have one now I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t have one in the future.
-
The next benchmark ball is here with the Ion. Not as weak as a IQ Tour yet not as clean as a Phaze 2; the Ion fits between both those selections. When you need earlier than a Phaze 2 the Ion is a great option to go to. The Ion is versatile as you can close your angles and open them based off what the lane is giving you. This ball has become a staple in my bag and comes with me wherever I go, whether it's to league or tournament play.

Storm – Ion Pro
14-pounds
Layout 5 x 4 x 1.5
Style – stroker
Ball Speed – 14–15 mph at pins
Condition – house pattern - HPL surface
Surface – box condition
I just recently switched to 14-pound equipment after an injury. This is my first new ball at that weight and it’s everything the promotional information states. Sometimes we over-hype something or people think staffers must pump up the new products. In this case, all the hype is correct. There’s not one style of bowler that can’t benefit from this ball.
For the ultimate benchmark ball, I went with my standard layout when trying to get a read on a ball. It was easy for me to get the ball through the fronts and is the ultimate reaction shape for me as it picks up its roll. Mind you, this ball doesn’t have any trouble making a corner if you really wanted to get your hand in it.
My summer team and all of us were using the Ion Pro last night. One senior player with a very low rev rate, myself newly minted senior with still a fair amount of roll and my son, a two-handed, high rev rate player. Again, this ball fits any type of style. The Ion is very receptive to rotation changes, speed changes and the versatility to play across the lane.
When you can appeal to that wide of range of player, the team in Utah has outdone themselves. I’d be interested in polishing one up to see what type of reaction shape it gives. I no doubt will drill multiples of this piece. If you’re in the market for a new ball, I can’t recommend a ball any more highly than the Ion Pro.

Ion Pro is a fresh take on a must-have shape! This reinvention of the benchmark ball provides a smooth shape that is both predictable and dynamic. This ball feels like a torquier IQ Tour Solid with a slightly stronger cover. The TX-16 formula feels familiar, yet the hybrid version featured here creates a little more length and allows this ball to handle more oil than the IQ Tour without being as strong/early as the Phaze 2. This ball is exactly what I want out of a benchmark ball: early, smooth, and predictable. And like any true benchmark ball, it fits right in the middle of my bag! This ball is one-of-a-kind. The Ion Pro features the newer Amplfied Inertia (A.I.) core technology. This core as you would expect will help the Ion Pro in providing a predictable shape at the end of the pattern. As A.I. core technology has been previously tested that means a few extra percentage points of carry can be anticipated.
For my review I compared my Ion Pros to the famous and long standing !Q Tour. As advertised by SPI, the Ion Pro falls between the Phaze II and !Q Tour. For me, the Ion Pros lean more toward the !Q side of the arsenal. Also, the layouts I chose for my Ion Pros allow me to keep my angles tighter and less steep for sport patterns I prefer to play on.
Both of my Ion Pros I did roll on a standard 43' house pattern to test with the !Q Tour. Ion Pro layout #1 is new for me and I was impressed with this one. Basically it is a great option for me when jumping out of urethane or need good control off the spot. It allowed me to blend the wet/dry as a rev dominant player. Ion Pro layout #2 simply transitions smoothly through all phases of ball motion. In comparison, my !Q Tour gets offline a touch quicker. I feel the Ion Pros give me more strength and reliability overall. If I could make one change I would adjust layout #2 to more of my standard 5 x 4 x 3 - 2LS. Simply to see all the versatility these Ion Pros have.
I recommend the the Storm Ion Pro for the player seeking straighter angles as lanes transition. I'm definitely excited about this ball from Storm. Cover: TX-16 Hybrid Reactive Core: Element Tour A.I. RG: 2.47 RG. Diff.: 0.035 Finish: 4000-Grit Abralon Fragrance: Kiwi Tart Storm’s new Ion Pro is a Hybrid Asymmetric Piece. This piece is good for Heavy-Medium Volume Patterns. PAP is 5 5/16 R 1 3/16 Up. Rev Rate: 400. Speed: 16.5. Drilled this piece with the Pin Up between the Fingers, CG kicked out 1” from the palm, and Mass Bias 1 1/2” Right of the Thumb. I threw this on a burned up 43’ house pattern. Out of Box ball motion was clean through the fronts with a strong continuous motion in the backend. I compared this piece to the Phaze II (3-3 Right) starts earlier in the mids wth a smooth motion on the backend and IQ Tour (4-4 Right) was more of a smooth rolling piece. The highly anticipated Storm Ion Pro brings the next evolution in cover technology with the TX-16 hybrid cover, a variation of the TX-16 solid cover found on the Phaze 2. What is unique about this ball, in addition to A.I. outer core technology, is an asymmetric core in the "benchmark" category. Upon first throwing it, my initial impression was a stronger, "torque-ier" IQ Tour. Definitely earlier and smoother, but still able to handle 4th arrow without any issues. Flattening my hand, the ball had no trouble rolling off of friction going up 8 board and having a controlled reaction. I personally love equipment in the .025-.040 diff. range so this one was at the top of my list to get drilled up. It can absolutely be the first ball out of your bag for league if you have any kind of friction to use. Probably not the ideal choice for something super heavy, but for most typical league conditions I can see this being ball #1 80% of the time. Comparing directly to the IQ Tour Solid on the same lane, the IQ was longer and sharper down the lane compared to the Ion. Those two could possibly make a good 1-2 combo, though I think the Ion and IQ Tour Pearl would have more separation.

Review:
I have never really been able to do well with the I.Q. Tour Navy, I know weird right? But then I totally love the Phase Two and completely trust it. So not knowing what to expect from the Ion Pro we drilled it up and went to the lanes. It only took a few shots to know I was going to be very happy with this ball. The 4000 grit surface helps the ball go long enough and the Mass Bias does not pull the ball down too soon. The A.I. Core hit is noticeable on this ball and the pins seem to bounce around quite a bit upon impact. Sometimes the A.I. hit seems to be enhanced with certain balls for me. The roll is stable and predictable, with just the right amount of motion on the back end. This ball creates a unique and better angle for me than the Tour Navy. I hear the term benchmark a lot but feel Storm nailed that reaction on this one. In my opinion benchmark balls have more motion today than we expected on them a few years back. I put this ball between my Gem and Tour Dynamix in total hook. This ball should work well for many styles of play. I did most my testing with the Ion Pro on a house shot and this ball blended out the pattern without skidding on the wet or jerking on the dry, this ball is a keeper!
Summary:
The Ion Pro has a great benchmark motion.
The hit and carry are excellent on the Ion Pro.
This ball could be essential in a lot of player’s bags.

COMMENTS
The Storm Ion Pro has been generating quite a buzz among bowlers for its impressive performance, balance and versatility. The Benchmark Asymmetrical a first for Storm.
Features the TX-16 Hybrid Reactive coverstock and the Element Tour AI core. This combination provides a unique blend of control and power, making it a great benchmark ball for many bowlers.
The TX-16 Hybrid coverstock is finished at 4000 Abralon, offering a good balance between traction and smoothness, while the Element Tour AI core is a low RG, low differential asymmetrical design, which helps the ball rev up quickly and provides strong midlane traction, a strong move at the breakpoint with a surprising amount of angularity, providing a consistent and reliable reaction.
Compared to my Roto Grip X-Cell, the Ion Pro has a bit more total hook and a stronger move at the breakpoint. It is also more angular off the spot compared to the Storm Phaze ll and IQ Tour, making it a versatile option.
For Tweeners and Strokers like myself the ball's versatility makes it suitable for different styles, with users appreciating its ability to handle various conditions without losing its effectiveness. I can stay in my comfort zones longer which boost the confidence in game usage
The Storm Ion Pro is a solid choice for bowlers looking for a reliable benchmark ball. Its combination of the TX-16 Hybrid Reactive coverstock and Element Tour AI core provides a versatile and powerful reaction that can adapt to different lane conditions. Whether you're a cranker, tweener, or stroker, the Ion Pro offers a consistent and strong performance that can help elevate your game

Storm Ion Pro
Core and cover: Element Tour core with A.I. technology with TX-16 HYBRID coverstock
Box finish: 4000 grit abralon --- Tested: at box condition and with Storm Rough Edge finishing product
Layout: 5 ½ x 5 x 5 – tested on 44ft house pattern and a 50ft USBC Junior Gold pattern
What I liked and found about the all new Ion Pro is the ball was very STABLE on both patterns I bowled on, may it have been the house pattern or the tougher 50ft USBC Junior Gold pattern. On the house pattern, the Ion Pro reacted similar to my Roto Grip Tour Dynam-X with a little extra “kick” on the back part of the pattern and onto the dry part of the lane. Adding Storm’s Rough Edge finishing product to the coverstock calmed the backend down to where it was not over reacting on the dry part of the lane. It basically promoted the surface to looking like “lane shine” condition without wearing down the peaks and valleys on the TX-16 HYBRID coverstock. Which brings me to the next topic: TX-16 has been a major player in the coverstock game for years, and NOW, for the first time ever Storm made it into a HYBRID coverstock, which is ESSENTIAL for today’s playing conditions and having TX-16 Hybrid on an asymmetrical core is UNIQUE for a “benchmark” ball. My SPI arsenal has changed a little bit this summer with SPI adding the Ion Pro and Roto Grip X-Cell to the line-up. My current arsenal is from weaker to stronger is: Roto Grip X-Ray at box finish with a super smooth 5” pin to pap layout, Roto Grip X-Ray with Rough Edge on it with a strong 4” pin to pap layout, Storm Lighting Blackout, Storm Ion Pro, Roto Grip Attention Star, Roto Grip X-Cell. That is one of the BEST summer arsenals I can remember having in the past 5 years at least. The Ion Pro is readily available at your local pro shops and watch for more SPI Matchmaker Live! Sam Cooper. Roto Grip Amateur Staffer. The ION Pro impressed me right from the start. The newest benchmark reaction from Storm is a different combination than we have seen in the past. We have the TX-16 hybrid cover stock. Paired with the new Element Tour A.I. Core which gives this ball a differential of .035 and intermediate differential of .014(15lbs). This combination gives you the confidence that this ball will consistently read the lanes and tell you what the lane is doing. In terms of my bag it is a step down from a Summit or a Optimum Idol, but stronger than a IQ Tour solid. I would like Storm to give us another ball with a similar combination already.
The first night I tested this ball was on the 37’ Viper pattern. I was impressed the first game I threw the ION. This was after 3 games of qualifying I decided to try it out. I hit the ball with a 2000 abralon pad. This surface also seems to be where it works best for me if I am going to throw it on fresh (4000 can be too over under for me). A lot of urethane was being used and the ION Pro ignored the urethane carry down on the lanes and gave me a consistent reaction to get to the pocket. Next night was on 42’ Mark Roth pattern. There was a lot of friction to the right and a puddle in the middle of the lane. I could throw the ION to the friction, and it would do the right thing every time (as long as the operator threw it correctly). It just gives you a smooth reaction that you can use on a variety of patterns. Any tournament bowler should have this ball in the bag no matter what condition you are bowling on. This ball would also be good for anyone that likes to see a smooth consistent reaction.
-
I drilled up my ION PRO with my standard 4.5 x 4 x 2 layout that I use on lower diff balls. I have tweaked the surface at 1500 to 3000.
The ION PRO is a good piece for the center that I bowl at with their 20+ year old synthetic panels. With the 1500 surface, the ION PRO is just under my THE ROAD & it might have just a little more pick up than my IQ TOUR RUBY. The ION PRO is one that I can keep in front of me and still get good roll off the medium/dryer patterns when they get a little wet/dry. I can also ball up to THE ROAD when I get pushed left or ball down to the IQ RUBY when I need to open up the lane to the right.
Put this one in your bag if you are bowling on worn surfaces and your IQ Ruby is still not enough off the spot to carry with. This is also a good one to put in between your PHAZE II and IQ TOUR.

The Storm Ion Pro is highly versatile, performing well on a variety of lane conditions, from medium to heavy oil. It is particularly effective for bowlers who prefer a strong mid-lane reaction with a smooth, controlled backend. The ball's hybrid coverstock allows it to adjust well to different surface preparations, making it easy to fine-tune its reaction to match specific lane conditions or a bowler's unique style. The Ion Pro is also a great option for bowlers who need a reliable benchmark ball. Its predictable motion and strong backend make it a solid choice for getting a read on the lanes and determining the best line to play. Whether you’re a competitive bowler looking for a reliable option to tackle challenging oil patterns or a league player in need of a versatile ball for different conditions, the Ion Pro offers a great balance of power, control, and versatility. Its striking appearance and reliable performance make it a valuable addition to any bowler’s arsenal, giving you the confidence to perform at your best in any situation.

The Storm Ion Pro is a fantastic addition to my bag, offering a powerful and versatile reaction that fits perfectly between my Phaze II and IQ Tour. This ball revs up quickly in the midlane, and its hybrid TX-16 coverstock, combined with the new Element Tour AI core, gives it an angular move at the backend that I haven't seen in other balls. On medium to heavy oil, the Ion Pro outshines my Phaze II with its sharper motion, yet it still delivers the same predictability that I love about the Phaze. It’s a perfect complement to the IQ Tour as well, adding more punch when I need it without sacrificing control. This ball is a must-have for anyone looking for a reliable benchmark that can handle a variety of conditions.

The new Ion Pro is the new standard in benchmark bowling balls. This new release features the TX-16 hybrid reactive coverstock and an all new Element Tour A.I. core. At 15 pounds the RG is a low 2.47 with a differential of .035 and an intermediate differential of .014. I drilled mine at 4x4x2 which puts the pin above my ring finger. This ball is everything it was advertised to be. The new standard for benchmark ball motion. The Ion Pro is a little less overall hook for me than the Phaze II, but it definitely has a shaper backend motion than the Phaze II. It is stronger than the IQ Tour but provides the same kind of predictable reaction that has made the IQ so popular among tournament bowlers. The new Ion Pro will provide the bowler with high usability on many lane conditions, making this a must purchase for any league bowler. The versatility of the Ion Pro is simply unmatched.
-
Layout: 55 x 4 x 70
This ball is a staple in my tournament bag and will continue to be for the forseeable future. "Benchmark" may be a subjective term, but most bowlers will be able to get lined up off of this ball easily, no matter what pattern is in front of them.
The combination of midlane read, controllable yet hard backend motion, and versatility make the Ion Pro a must-have for all competitive tournament bowlers.
Compared to the similar Tour Dynam-X from Roto Grip, the Ion Pro features a little stronger ball motion. And with the weaker hybrid coverstock compared to the Tour Dynam-X's solid cover, gives the Ion Pro a little sharper motion downlane, and provides a more ideal motion for when the move is a little deeper than the Dynam-X. These two make a great 1-2 punch for your arsenal!

The Ion Pro is the next best innovation from Storm. This is the first asymmetric benchmark bowling ball ever designed by Storm Bowling. This bowling ball is designed to provide a balanced performance across different lane conditions. The Ion Pro features the Element Tour A.I. core and TX-16 coverstock. This is a bowling ball you, for sure, need to have in your arsenal.
Given the core numbers of the Ion Pro, I drilled mine with my standard pin-up layout: 65 x 4 ½ x 35. From the very first shot, this bowling ball gave me a very good impression. It is truly a benchmark bowling ball as I have been able to use it on multiple oil patterns so far. The bowling ball felt controllable and responded to release adjustments very well, which to me, those are some of the key elements that make a good benchmark bowling ball. It certainly falls very nicely between the proven IQ Tour and Phaze 2.
The IQ Tour is, by far, my favorite bowling ball, but with increasing amounts of conditioner used for today’s oil patterns, it sometimes feels a bit too weak. The Ion Pro seems to have a stronger coverstock and can battle patterns with higher volumes of conditioner much better. I have seen this ball roll very well with different layouts and the coverstock seems to take surface adjustments very well. I am fairly confident that many bowlers of different styles will find a lot of success with this bowling ball. The Ion Pro will be in my arsenal for a while, and I am also looking forward to drilling another one or two of these.

One of the newest releases from Storm fits right in the middle of the bag as the “benchmark reaction” that any bowler can judge ball reaction from. The TX-16 hybrid cover stock is weak enough that it won’t immediately pick up once it hits the dry, and the Element core, with it’s low RG of .035, fits perfectly giving an incredibly stable, arcing type reaction. Several centers in our area use a pretty low volume THS so the lower diff balls have been staples in my bag for years. When other balls, like an IQ RUBY, start to go a little too long before making their turn to the pocket, the ION PRO will be a nice small step up to read a little earlier read while still maintaining the controllable reaction off the breakpoint. I can certainly see this ball being a staple in the middle of the bag, replacing some of my older low diff solids (my previous “benchmark” equipment”) for a very long time.

The best word to use to describe this new Storm Ion Pro truly is "benchmark". It very much bridges the gap between the trusty Storm Phaze 2 and IQ Tour solid. I find when the Phaze 2 starts to endure too much early friction, and the IQ Tour is still a little too clean for the situation, this Ion Pro really shines, getting through the fronts just a touch earlier than the Phaze 2 and making a stronger mid lane move than the IQ. With my pin down layout on this one, it comes off the end of the pattern even smoother, allowing me to throw it on fresher conditions as well.

The ION Pro is the ball I’ve been waiting for! I wanted a lower diff/Int diff ball forever! The Tour DynamX was really close but it is a little too slow due to the differential being 0.026. It was hard to get that ball into the roll phase if there was too much oil or with too much ball speed. The ION PRO solves that problem! It always gets into a roll. It’s not too strong, or weak, it’s the perfect benchmark ball. I can throw it harder and I can get real straight, or slow down and really send the ball right and it will recover. That’s how I measure my benchmark balls, how many zones can I play! Tour Dynam-X was limited, the ION PRO built on that ball and can do ANYTHING and the carry is vastly improved. Pick one up today!

Review:
Game changer! This ball shape and reaction is best described as all the GOATs combined. We are seeing OG Hyroad, Phaze 2, IQ Solid vibes but in an asymmetrical piece. We drilled this ball with our normal layout: tweener, 350-375 revs, 16.5mph, layout of choice is 4x4x2 (pin is above bridge). It is hard, and also very early, to say this could take the Phaze 2 to its grave but it may do so. The versatility of this ball and the way it reacts to surface changes makes it very dynamic, and backs up the slightly high “benchmark” price tag. You can expect to use this ball pretty much the way you find yourself using a Phaze 2. It looks good on the fresh, it looks great moving left, and it looks even better on sport patterns. This is a ball that you keep multiples drilled with maybe two different coverstock variations to use in a tournament. It is that good.

The new Storm Ion Pro is an impressive addition to the Storm lineup, designed to serve as a versatile ball that redefines the meaning of “benchmark”. It features the TX-16 Hybrid Reactive coverstock, first seen on the Phaze II as a solid cover, and the newly developed Element Tour A.I. asymmetric core which offers a lower RG of 2.47 and a medium-strength differential of 0.035 in 15lbs. This core and cover combination gives the Ion Pro the ability to rev up quickly, providing strong midlane traction and a sharp but controllable backend finish.
I’ve found that the Ion Pro does not disappoint when it comes to versatility, especially on medium volume oil patterns. It has offered a solid balance between control and power, and for me it fits somewhere between the !Q Tour and Phaze II. The Ion Pro’s smooth yet angular backend reaction makes it an ideal ball given the number of centers with older lane surfaces in my area – it’s clean enough to handle the extra friction while still being able to provide good down-lane continuation. By comparison, the Phaze II is stronger in the midlane and not as sharp on the backend thanks to the solid cover; and the !Q Tour is a step down from the Ion Pro.
I see this as a very versatile ball that deserves a spot in every bowler’s bag. The Ion Pro can be used on house patterns as well as sport conditions delivering a consistent and predictable reaction. From everything I’ve seen, the Storm Ion Pro lives up to the hype of redefining the definition of a “benchmark” ball.

The Storm Ion Pro the new benchmark in the Storm product line. The Ion Pro is wrapped in the TX-16 hybrid and the use of AI Technology. This lives up to the hype, after getting a chance to get on the lanes with the Ion pro I really impressed with what seen. Very smooth controllable ball that continues through the pocket. I put one of my favorite layouts on it 40x5x45. This ball is one of my favorites in the bag and anytime I go to a tournament it’s the first choice to come out.

The Element Tour A.I. Core asymmetric design leaves plenty of room for any pro shop operator to tweak a layout to get the most out of the Ion Pro. And with that tweaking ability, I found the Element Tour A.I. core to be stable and consistent. I liked how the Element Tour core revs smoothly through the mid-lane without sacrificing the energy at the exit of the pattern. Further, I found the Element Tour A.I. Core crisp and vibrant as it heads to the pins without being overly aggressive. And because of its uniquely smooth asymmetrical design, the Element Tour A.I. Core strikes the pins with the precision of a symmetrical core but with the power of its asymmetrical design! Lastly, the Element Tour A.I. Core is far from lazy! So, if you are a straighter player like me, you will appreciate the Element A.I. Core's ability to stand up and roll with authority even when you know you missed! You can trust the Element A.I. Core to fight for you every shot!
When it comes to coverstocks – you can't get any more consistent than the TX-16 Hybrid! The solid version of the TX-16 was on the Phaze II, and how long has the Phaze II been around? Exactly! So, it's no wonder Storm used a Hybrid Version of the TX-16 on the Ion Pro – it is that good! The TX-16 Hybrid at the factory 4000-grit surface is ideal for straighter players like me. You can count on the TX-16 Hybrid to be clean through the front part of the lane. And I loved how the TX-16 Hybrid had smooth traction in the mid-lane, giving me the predictable motion I needed to see as my Ion Pro made its way down the lane. And what I loved most about the TX-16 Hybrid is its ability to be consistent through an entire night of league conditions. The TX-16 bites crisply on fresh oil but also blends the broken-down pattern equally as well making the TX-16 the benchmark skid, hook and roll you can depend on!
In closing, Storm has done an outstanding job creating the Ion Pro! And I will boldly say the Ion Pro delivers what Storm claimed it would -the Asymmetrical benchmark ball that sets the new standard in reliability! And if you are a straighter player like me, that reliability belongs in your arsenal! So, stop into your local Strom VIP Pro Shop and have our Ion Pro ready to roll. And be prepared for that asymmetrical benchmark reliability you have been waiting for! The Ion Pro is well worth the investment!

The Storm ION Pro bowling ball is a noteworthy addition to Storm's lineup, boasting impressive technology and performance characteristics that make it a strong contender for both competitive and casual bowlers. Having had the opportunity to test it thoroughly, I would like to offer a comparative review against the beloved Storm Phase 2, which has been a staple in many bowlers' arsenals since its release.
The ION Pro features Storm's Element Tour AI core, designed to provide a strong mid-lane read while creating a smooth and controllable backend reaction. The coverstock is composed of the TX-16 Pearl, which allows for versatility across different lane conditions. In contrast, the Phase 2 incorporates the Velocity core and the TX-16 Solid coverstock, well-known for its ability to offer a powerful mid-lane performance and a little less backend reaction than the ION Pro.
When rolling the ION Pro, you can expect a consistently smooth arc and reliable continuation down the lane. It performs particularly well on medium oil patterns, allowing bowlers to feel comfortable making adjustments without overreacting. The ball's ability to maintain its energy until the pins adds to its appeal for those looking to achieve striking consistency.
In contrast, the Phase 2 has a reputation for being a more versatile option across varying oil patterns. Its strong backend reaction makes it a favorite among bowlers who enjoy playing outside the track or taking advantage of transitioning lane conditions.
When it comes to feel, both balls deliver an excellent response from the lanes.

The Ion Pro is an impressive addition to the Storm lineup, designed to serve as a versatile ball that redefines the meaning of “benchmark” for everyone. The Element ™ Tour A.I. Core combine with the TX-16 Hybrid cover stock, and changing the finish on my Ion Pro to 2000-grit abralon. This make it ideal for players that swing the lane like me. You can count on the Ion Pro to be clean through the front part of the lane, but also smooth traction in the mid-lane with a predictable motion and had a continuous finish. I fell the Ion Pro stay on line longer and give you forgiveness when you miss your target slightly. It also does a very amazing job at blending out the pattern. I fell the Storm Ion Pro lives up to the hype. Being versatile for all bowlers, and everyone should have one in their bag! The uniqueness of the Ion Pro is the first thing that comes to mind – when it is at a fresh 4000 out of box finish (or brought down to 3000, depending on the oil pattern), this ball is the prototypical benchmark ball that it is marketed to be. However, if the ball is allowed to get lane shined up past 4000, the backend reaction is markedly sharper. This adds a layer of versatility to the usability of the Ion Pro. For myself, on fresh conditions, I preferred a fresh 3000 surface to add more midlane roll and predictability on medium to medium-heavy conditions. In my arsenal, this ball fits between the 900 Global Sublime Focus (for heavy oil) and the Storm Phaze AI (for medium oil).

Storm Ion Pro Ball Review by PJ Haggerty
The Ion Pro is the latest addition to the Premier line at Storm. After drilling an Ion Pro and having success with it, I consider this my “benchmark” ball. It’s not too strong, not too clean, not too early, and not too responsive. It’s essentially, everything you’d want in a benchmark ball. With an RG of 2.47 but a differential of .035, this tells us that the ball wants to read the lane early, but it’s not going to flare a lot. If you ever drilled the extremely popular IQ from Storm, it had a similar differential and was widely successful.
When comparing it to the IQ, the Ion Pro is made to be stronger and provide a quicker response time. I’ve drilled one so far and really like it. I’ve mapped it out as 5.5 x 5 x 2. This puts the pin near my bridge and the mass bias just to the right of my thumb. It rolls exactly as described up above. It’s not too much of any one motion, but just simply, predictable. I’ve been able to use it mainly on short-medium patterns, but it’s definitely earned a spot in my bag.
If you’re missing one of those benchmark pieces in your bag that you can rely on to see what type of pattern you’re competing on, I’d drill an Ion Pro!

The new ball in the Storm Premier line is the Storm Ion Pro. Can you say benchmark ball! This is a ball that has been missing from the storm line, a low diff low RG asymmetrical bowling ball. I drilled mine 4 1/2 x 4 x4x2 pin up. The ION pro is a perfect combo of length and strength. Not too early or a huge backend motion. ION just gives you control. 2 handers absolutely loves the ION. The ION pro is a good compliment to the other staples in the lineup Phaze 2 and IQ Tour. Not as early as a Phaze 2 and not as much on backend as an IQ. Great ball and sales have been great. A true winner from Storm.

R2S Deep is cleaner through the front compared to the flagship R2S formula. This yields a more aggressive It’s difficult to find another coverstock as reliable and flexible as TX-16. First established by the Phaze™ II, TX-16 has been inspiring confidence in bowlers around the world for years. In this hybrid version, it marries length with strength to create versatility on a level rarely seen. The Ion Pro was designed to redefine what “benchmark” truly means. Shape to the pocket with more overall angle through the pins.
COMMENTS
I drilled this ball pin up with my favorite drilling It’s a strong ball but very clean through the front part of the lane for me. I love this ball but it does hook I put 2000 surface with an abralon pad to give me a better reaction. This is the first asymmetric benchmark ball ever designed by Storm Bowling

The Ion Pro is one of the new additions to the Premier line at Storm. Using a well renowned cover (TX-16) and a new weight block with the addition of A.I. core tech, this ball was destined for greatness before putting holes into it! I experienced immediate success with this ball on multiple patterns, from multiple angles! Being a huge fan of the !Q, this redefinition on a benchmark ball is refreshing! Not too strong, not too clean, not over responsive. Simply, a great combo of control and POWER. The lower diff tells us that it shouldn’t flare much. The motion is very readable and the subtle color of the ION PRO, makes it even easier to read as she travels down the lane. I went with my favorite VLS layout on this of 4.75x5.75x2. For me, this put my thumb almost through the mass bias. The ION Pro has become a staple in my bag and I take it everywhere with me. This is often the first ball out of my bag on league nights and tournaments.
For a twist on it, I added some Power Edge to it and it still is a treat! #StormNation
