Storm IQ Tour 78/U
Introducing the Storm IQ Tour 78/U – a name that succinctly defines its essence: a urethane bowling ball with a hardness rating of 78! In response to the ever-evolving landscape of the sport, we've proudly crafted the Controll 78 Urethane, meticulously tailored to adhere to the latest PBA hardness regulations. This exceptional creation doesn't stop at the urethane upgrade; it showcases the time-tested C3 Core, a cornerstone in benchmark reactions for over a decade. The C3 Core, with its low RG design, possesses the remarkable ability to interpret the lane's nuances with precision, ensuring a true urethane-like response. This feature makes the Controll 78 Urethane a game-changer in the world of bowling. But that's not all – the 500-grit surface preparation, meticulously applied to the ball, keeps shorter oil patterns in check, helping you maintain control and accuracy on the lanes.

Or in this case, 'innovation'! Storm's IQ Tour 78/U redefines what you expect from a Urethane ball, offering unparalleled control and versatility. With its low RG C3 Core, it offers consistency in the friction, like traditional urethane, while maintaining down-lane shape for consistent striking power as the heads break down.  Thanks to input from Storm's Technical Experts, I opted for a 4 ¾ x 4 x 1 ½ pin-up layout, leading to impressive scores even on challenging patterns. Transitioning from urethane to reactive has never been more intuitive.  This ball is sure to allow your game to excel in this new chapter for urethane in our sport.

I am a higher speed, rev challenged 220-250ish, high tilt, high rotation, and super low track player. I drilled my Storm !Q Tour 78 U 4 x 4 x 2 using Storm VLS and my axis point is 3 ¼ right and 7/8 up. The Storm !Q Tour 78 U is a symmetric solid urethane piece that I really like medium volume and short patterns. The low RG, small diff, and medium flare potential is ideal when I need a smooth and predictable shape downlane.

Orientation:  Right Handed
Rev Rate:  400 RPM
Speed:  16-17 MPH
PAP:  4 ½ over and ½ up

Location:  Enterprise Park Lanes, Springfield MO
Pattern:  High Volume THS
VLS Layout:
Layout 1:  4 x 4 x 2 Urethane layout pin over ring

I see what they did here.  The Pitch Black has a stronger cover and weaker core and the IQ Tour 78/U has a weaker (harder) cover and a stronger core.  The result is a VERY close imitation of Pitch Black.  It’s not exactly the same as you would expect, I feel like the IQ 78 gets a touch more forward due to the core rev’ing up quicker.  I drilled them both the same and the IQ 78 backs off more.  SO the over result is so close.  I think this is a slam dunk replacement for the Pitch Black on tour.  Off tour, I’m still throwing my Pitch Black, except if I need a slightly different shape.
