Storm has brought back the Catalyst Core in the Storm Omega Crux high performance bowling ball. This popular core has been known for its unmatched power, increased entry angle, as well as allowing more room for drilling error due to dynamic asymmetrical design and vertical cavity technology. The GI-20 Pearl coverstock used in this ball stands for Game Improvement 2020. This special coverstock was specifically designed to improve performance in the modern difficult bowling environment. The GI-20 Pearl Reactive coverstock used on the Omega Crux is best used on heavier oil conditions and has a really good skid, hook and then roll reaction. This ball can recover for almost anyplace on the lane.

I drilled my Omega Crux 5 x 3 x 4 and left it at its box surface, this ball comes with the same Catalyst Core as the other Crux lined balls but wrapped with the brand new GI-20 Pearl cover. First impressions about throwing this ball was wow, for being a pearl this ball didn’t really jerk off the end of the pattern or when I missed into the friction. The Omega Crux glided through the front part of the lane.  Multiple style of bowlers will enjoy the versatility of this ball and will shoot big numbers with it. I already have shot 839 with it just after a few times of using it.

Couldn’t wait for this one to come out!  A sanded pearl! $$$ The Omega Crux, the newest release in the Primier line. The Omega Crux uses the new GI-20 Pearl Cover wrapped around the Catalyst Core. The new GI-20 Pearl cover helps get the Omega Crux to clear the fronts well but it still has that strong and continuous arc that is known from the Catalyst Core. The layout I used in mine was 45 x 4.25 x 40.  This gives the ball a chance to read the mids well and still has great backend motion.  Excellent compliment to the Crux balls.  I wasn’t a huge fan of the Crux Prime for myself as it was very jumpy off the spot, but the Omega is not.  Strong motion but controllable.  The Crux definitely wants oil on the lane to perform at its best but a must have in the bag as it blends out patterns as well. You will not be disappointed with this ball.

Storm's new powerhouse is a sanded pearl with a core that has been a proven performer. The Omega Crux wraps the Catalyst core that has powered one of the most successful lines of bowling balls in the GI-20 Pearl Reactive coverstock. Don't expect pearl reaction with this ball however, the sanded finish makes this ball early and STRONG in the front of the lane.

I began hearing comparisons to the Alpha Crux almost immediately after staffers starting getting their hands on the Omega. Intrigued I decided to layout my Omega exactly as my Alpha had been. I was surprised to find that for me, the motion and strength was exactly what I had remembered my alpha being. The greatest complement that I can give to an early-rolling ball is that is still continuous like the Alpha was.

I tested the Omega Crux, somewhat fortunately, on a house pattern which had recently been changed to add a bit of length and some substantial volume to the front of the pattern. It was beyond enjoyable to watch 90% of the league watch their balls squirt throught the front and have no change to recover down-lane, while my omega would see the mid-lane with unreal consistency. Taking a quick look at the league sheet next week I saw the vast majority of the league bowl below average while I had my best set of the year.

I've since had the opportunity to throw it with less volume on the lane and even on a broken down house-shot. The sessions on the worn pattern in particular were surprising as I kept waiting to see the ball shut down in the back after forcing it through the early friction but it just kept coming. This has quickly become my go to ball on the fresh and I see alot of bowlers choosing the omega crux to tackle volume.

It’s rare that I can love a ball this much after only a few games out of the box. I put a 5x4.5x4 (pin under) layout on the Omega Crux hoping to create a rounder, more controlled shape. The Catalyst core tends to produce a stronger and rounder shape. Wrapped with the new GI-20 cover, you get a strong asymmetrical pearl that digs in just a little sooner to create that strong arcing backend that hits like it was shot out of a cannon.

In my 2nd game out of the box I shot 300 in a tournament on a 5:1, 41’ challenge pattern. My strong solid pieces just couldn’t hold energy through the pattern and my strongest pearl pieces were leaving me pinched and blowing through the break. Started a new shift on fresh oil and decided to put the Omega Crux to work. After striking 20 out of 24 frames, it started getting some attention.

This ball is for real. Very versatile. A day after throwing on that challenge pattern, I threw a practice session on my wood lanes and house pattern. I had no problems lining up and seeing that same smooth, strong and dependable motion.

If you’re excited for the new Storm Omega Crux you should be. When this first got released I had a few things in my head what it might be like, one was some similarities to my original Storm Lock. Soon as I threw it I loved the shape that it made and did bring back memories of my old Lock that I loved!! The more I throw this the more I get comfortable trusting my shots and seeing the great shape it creates. The Omega Crux creates a sharp entry angle and more hook down lane as the Crux Prime gets into an earlier roll. For the lower rev rate and speed players the Omega will get down the lane a little longer then the Prime but still have plenty of pop down lane. This ball is a little to much for my house shot but I can see this being the first ball out of my bag on longer/higher volume patterns. This ball definitely allows you to chase the shot left without the ball giving up on the backend. Overall this release is an A+++

I drilled up my OMEGA CRUX at 55* x 4" x 35*. I have been throwing this one at 3000 tru-cut.

The OMEGA CRUX is a duller pearl out of the box. It works in well for me when it is time to get out of my stronger asym balls but shiny pearls are too over/under yet. I have thrown this with my PHAZE III and the OMEGA CRUX is slightly stronger and earlier.

Drill this one when you want a dull pearl option in your bag to compliment your big core balls. It also is a good step down from the CRUX PRIME.

The Omega Crux uses the new GI-20 Pearl Cover wrapped around the Catalyst Core.  I'll be honest I was a little skeptical drilling the Omega because outside the Alpha the Crux series hasn't rolled good for my roll.  I took the recommendation from my Storm DSM and drilled it 5 x 5 x 2 which put the pin right above both fingers and put the mass just to the right of my thumb. I added a little Step 2 compound so I could use it for league.  I was pleasantly surprised!  Very strong asymmetrical pearl.  Hard to describe the roll of the Omega, very even to me not too early and not flippy at all.  Very hard arching motion, but the carry is unbelievable.  The Omega just goes through the pins the right way. When you get lined up you can strike for days.  Definitely above a Astro Physixs and below the Crux Prime.  The PBA guys absolutely love this ball!
