I am also starting my 2nd season with the El Nino 2000. I am above avg. rev player and my ball is drilled with the pin above the finger holes which I believe is to increase the backend. I bowl in a house with very dry backends and need the oil carrydown to have the ball react well. It's a very good performer but the 2nd ball gets used.

Likes: Turns the corner great. Gets through the head really well for a particle. Reads the lane well, making a good benchmark ball.

Dislikes: Squirty in long oil and carry down. If it doesn't find a dry board it will leave a lot of corners.

I picked up one of these about two years ago from Storm.  The El Nino 2000 is a great ball to keep in your bag. It gets down the lane very well for a particle ball and has a nice hard arc to it which throws pins around at will. If your looking for a ball for very heavy oil I wouldn't recommend this one, but if you want a ball for the first game or two on a house shot this one can get the job done. This one is good on medium-heavy to medium conditions, but you'll have to move in deep with a lot of ball speed or weak release to throw this one when the heads start to dry up. This one is usually the first one out of my bag, because of it's great ball reaction, and it reads the lane so well. If your looking for all around performance you can't go wrong with this one. Overall, I will give this one a 9 out of 10. Another great job by Storm.

Drilled 4x5, ball goes quite long with very strong move on the back. Not a good ball for heavy oil with oil in length. Works good on wet dry.

Japanese National Champion 1999 & 2002

I have had this ball for awhile, and have loved the balls hitting power so much, that when the cover started to die, I plugged it and now use it for drier conditions.  I originally had it with the CG at the edge of my palm, with the pin kicked up and out.  This could tackle any heavy oil I encountered, until the cover started to die.  I've had the ball since it was new, and with using the ball frequently since 2000, I figured 4 good years out of the cover wasn't bad at all.  I contemplated getting rid of the ball, since I had replaced it with a few hook-in-a-box bowling balls (since the cover had started to go the way of tie-dye), but I just couldn't bring myself to part with the hitting power of this ball.  So I just recently plugged the ball, and lined up the CG in the middle of my palm, with the pin RIGHT ABOVE my bridge.  WOW!!!  Now this ball has even better hit, while now being able to be thrown on drier conditions.  I wasn't sure if a control drilling would save this ball from retirement, but it did.  I pulled it out the other night on second shift, when everything else took a right hand turn at the arrows, and could easily play a small swing with this ball. Shoot 223 257 the last two games, when everyone else were struggling for 190-200's.  All in all, this ball is one of the best hitting balls I have ever thrown.
