The power behind the Tropical Heat is the highly successful Turbine core from previous Hot line balls like the Fast and Furious. This mid-RG and mid-differential core boasts a tighter spin radius for quick revving mid-lane and enhanced entry angle to the pocket. Reactor series coverstock adds the perfect complement to the Tropical Heat. This performance proven coverstock continues to be a staple in the Storm line by delivering the ideal blend of friction and power. Don’t be left out in the freezing cold – Turn up the Heat!

Likes: Not very different from the Hybrid in the sense that it has good
potential as a benchmark.  If you have the Hybrid already, this could be
a step up ball if you want to see a slightly smoother, less angular
move.  You can see the Hybrid and Solid compared in the video.  These
balls are far from weak balls.  I think they are both potential
benchmarks.  The overall ball reaction shape is dictated by the core and
it allows a long and strong reaction.  The core lopes in the front,
allowing it to get through the heads pretty clean.  The cover doesn’t
really fight that with its out of box finish.  However, the ball
transitions definitively and is continuous, really driving into the
pocket.

Basically, this ball is a perfect compliment to the Tropical Heat Hybrid
and Pearl.  There’s just enough of a difference to be noticeable
between the Solid and Hybrid.  The Solid is just a tad earlier than the
Hybrid, and just slightly less angular on the backends.  That doesn’t
mean it’s weak.  It’s just that little bit more controllable with an
overall smoother reaction.

What a great ball at this price point. I drilled it with the pin above my fingers at 5" cg at 4.75".  No hole.

I have had the chance to use this ball on both the Viper and Chameleon patterns.  It really shines when I want to stay pretty square to the pattern but do not need a big jump in the back.  The solid cover is just a bit earlier than the Hybrid but it is much smoother down lane. On the Chamelelon pattern when the heads broke down and I was forced in my Tropical Heat was able to corner and hit exceptionally well.  No worry at all of the ball not having enough guts to make it back.

On the THS I could pretty much do what ever I wanted in regards to playing on the lanes.  The best part is that it does not over-react to the friction.  My moves when the lane changed were very measured.  No complex geometry required.  Simple moves and I never lost hit.

I have a tournament coming up in a center that has synthetic heads and wood backends. I usually struggle there.   I cannot wait to throw the Tropical Heat Solid.

Likes: The Tropical Heat Solid is about the closest replica to me as the Rapid Fire Solid.  I drilled this one exactly like my rapid fire and it rolls almost identical.  The tropical heat solid is extremely clean through the front part of the lane and is very smooth and continuous in the back.  A low end ball that rolls like a mid to high end ball is a must have in my bag, as well as yours!  Bowl Up A Storm!!!

The new Tropical Heat solid has great shelf appeal with its solid Reactor cover stock and blend of colors that resemble the Rapid Fire. The Tropical Heat solid has the same Turbine core found in the Street Rods, Fast and Furious balls, as well as the Natural and pre released Tropical Heat bowling balls. I drilled the solid Tropical pin under ring, with the cg located 30 degrees from my PAP (the ball was a 2-2.5 pin out). This gives me a 5 x 2.5 layout. I have altered the cover with green scotch brite.  The xtra hole is 2 down my val from my PAP.

My thought process for this ball was to give me a similar shape as a Marvel that I have drilled with the same angle, but with an easier glide through the front of the lane. The Heat revs up very quickly in the mid lane giving me control of the backend of the lane, when there are fresh medium to medium heavy volumes of shorter distances.  The Heat solid is in my bag when ever going to any tournament, since drilling it up. The Heat is a great step down from the 2Furious that has the stronger R2S cover, and stronger NOS core.  I have been able to use the Tropical solid on PBA Viper, Shark, Chameleon, as well as house Conditions. The overall ball motion really reminds me of the down lane shape my pin down Rapid Fire had. The best way to describe the Tropical Heat solid is versatility. Apply surface, or add polish based on your personal needs, and go strike up a Storm!

The Tropical Heat solid with surface, the hybrid and the pearl, are almost enough to make a complete arsenal out of. Storm has worked very hard to bring yet another bowling ball offering an exceptional value for the money spent. I will be drilling up another Tropical Heat solid with a different layout (drilling a pin over ring), as I like the cover to core compliment that much.  Thank you for taking the time to read my review of the Tropical Heat Solid.

Hello all and thanks for reading.  Here is the link to the Heat Indigo/Violet with solid coverstock:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYE8BoCb_dw (Be Sure to pay attention to the end - Wow)

Heat Indigo Violet is another gem in the Storm line.  Very difficult to actually call this ball in the lower end of the scale for Storm because it is anything but "low-end".  When shooting the video I definately had to be further in a higher volume of oil playing a tighter line due to the strength of the coverstock and core combination.  With the box surface it has not problem getting through the heads clean as a whistle and maintains a nice strong arc on the back part of the lane without any over reaction.  Take the polish off and you have yourself a ball that can be used on many lane surfaces and oil volumes.  I have used mine on all PBA Patterns except the Shark and have had much success.

You can see comparing to the Heat Black Silver Hybrid that this ball does start further inside the track area than and it uses the middle heavier oiled part of the lane to its advantage.  Not over reacting off of the dry is one of its many strengths.

This ball could be a benchmark for many bowlers and will be a staple in the Heat Series for a long time to come. Utilize this ball if you are of any skill level, high or low rev, high or low speed.  Extremely versatile in reaction and excellent hitting power.  Keep rolling up a Storm

Likes:  Very Good ball especially for the price point.

The Tropical Heat Solid is a very good compliment to the Tropical Heat Pearls.  The solid picks up a little earlier in the midlane, and still has plenty of backend.  But is more on the strong arc side.  This is a great ball for the house patterns as it handles the wet/dry better than the pearls.  The solid also
handles the medium to short PBA and sport patterns with good success.  Even with the low differential the solid still has plenty of hitting power.   Another great ball by Storm.
