I'm not a real bowling lingo savvy guy but I can tell you a bit about what this ball did for me.  I drilled it to the #1 on the Storm drill sheet and played the ball down and in right over the first arrow on the right.  The ball glided very smoothly with little effort and hit the pocket like a freight train.  Everything was kept as it was right out of the box as far as the coverstock goes.  Very very impressed with what this ball did.  I highly recommend.

Yesterday I play my first 3 lines with STORM SHIFT.
We have a very strong oil pattern 39 feet (league pattern).

My first 3 games are 214-235-266
I only have 3 words for SHIFT "LOOOOOOTTTTTT HOOOOOOOOOK"

Bought this ball after seeing PDW use it on TV.
 

 First Storm ball. I am very pleased with the reaction with this ball.
 Not a heavy oil ball.
 Medium to firm speed allowing for energy to be stored and released with this ball.

 Let this ball do the work. Great carry, wonderful ball reaction.

Med speed and high forward revs. I drilled this ball with the pin, cg, and mass bias in line stacked right of ring a little. It is a very early and strong ball. It needs oil in front badly or it doesn't carry. This is an ideal ball on a fresh league shot on synthetic lanes because wood wont hold up long enough. I just won a JBT with it though so you can watch the video at jbtsw.com 4 seasons video. I Recommend this ball to all tournament travelers to have in the bag but if your a 1-2 ball a year guy I would go with a med. ball like a troad pearl or something in the fire series.

THS...my shift is smooth..it does need a little dry to bank of off to be effective...i found playing more direct(14-9) makes this ball shine..it will work deeper with more angle just not as well..i can square up even more(11-6) and strike as well...while i like this ball but find it to be more condition sensitive, it still doesn't compare to my TNV with same drill...tnv is more versatile and overall more ball...by the way the shift is no monster of a ball..maybe with some surface adjustments..

My Shift was drilled a couple of months ago so I feel that I can give a good review based on the amount of games and conditions that I have used it. The Shift clears the heads a lot easier than most pearl particles that I have experienced, makes a smooth mid-lane transition, and a solid and strong backend motion. I have seen that it is extremely versatile, it is a ball that is willing to be thrown up the boards with little hand or in with more side turn. I would say that the ball is slightly better and easier to read when you turn it harder. The ball is at its best when the pattern is fresh, it handles carrydown okay but not as well as some other balls. I like to go to mine when my Special Agent or Diablo burns up too early and won't make the hill on the back or when my Agents or T-Road Pearl skate through the heads too long and won't make the hill. Like most particles however, the ball needs to be kept more on line as it tends to not make it back when missed to the outside. Overall, another versatile release from Storm.

Lay Out: 5" from PAP (pin up 1 1/2" over fingers), 75 deg angle. Small wt hole on the axis.

Surface: Box.

Purpose: To give myself a arsenal ball that I could use on medium to slightly longer oil/higher volume patterns.

Observations: I have thrown this on several of our PBA Experience league conditions mainly the Viper, Chameleon, and Scorpion. I have also thrown this on the regional Cheetah on Brunswick Pro Anvilane surfaces. This ball gets back pretty consistantly for me on the league PBA shots. Our center seems to not have as much friction downlane and this ball lets me stay online and play the back end hook into the hole. On the league Viper shot, I was able to get area where people were catching a hang spot. On the regional Cheetah, I was able to go to a flatter hand position and pick my speed up and create some area to the left of board 5-6 at the breakpoint. I never tried this one on our version of Shark as it just kicked too long in the heads during practice on this pattern.

Final thoughts: On the correct patterns, this ball is money. Those patterns being ones where the ball can get down the lane and not jerk into the pocket on the back. Too much jerk = too many rope/smash back row single pin leaves. This ball has been gold for me on about 38-41 foot patterns, but with the right release and ball speed could work on slightly shorter patterns in the 35-36 range. It didn't seem to make the turn on anything longer than 41 feet and that is due to the factory surface of 1500 grit/polish which Storm probably did to keep the early burn of the particle under control.

Storm nailed it on this ball, as this was the release that brought more Storm balls back into my arsenal.

The Shift is an alright ball. I dont think its for heavy oil at all. It is a nice ball for a house shot(of course)and shorter patterns ( you might could find a line for Scorpion too). Out of the box it is very smooth with a controlled back end. It doesnt really jump off the dry like most pearls do. It as great length with smooth back ends. Good hitting power over all good ball.
