Take the Storm Torrent to the lanes and wash out the competition. This bowling ball features the Booster HV (high volume) core which is a larger weight block that provides extra hitting power. The core is made up of a lot of high-density materials that offer consistency as well as forgiveness. The design of this core increases the RG and provides higher flare potential. This ball is covered with Storm's famous R2S coverstock and allows this ball to glide through the front part of the lane and react on the backend. The Torrent bowling ball is finished with a 2000-grit matte finish that gives this ball the ability to dig through the oil on the lanes and give the bowler more control at the backend.

I drilled the Torrent with my normal pin up layout, 70*5*35. No extra hole needed. I compared the Torrent to my rocketship with the same layout and found that the Torrent was alittle cleaner through the front part of the lane than the RocketShip and has alittle more continuation down lane. Still a very smooth motion though. I prefer this shape on my normal league pattern over the RocketShip because it doesn't rev up too fast and slow down on me once it hits the down lane friction. I can migrate in alittle bit with this ball where as with the RocketShip I cant. Very good ball to have in your bag.

What I Liked: I changed the surfaced to 4000 grit AB to give it a little more length because the reaction off the pattern with the box finish was very strong and very quick. For me, 2000AB read real quickly off of the pattern, taking it to 4000 grit AB allowed it just that smoother transition off of the wet and onto the dry, made it more manageable for me. Very Strong – I stress Very Strong solid reactive cover ball. I feel that is ball would be the first piece out of my bag when I bowl at the ABC centers that have the newer Brunswick panels without taking a second thought. Great strong piece without having to go to a ASYM core solid.

The Torrent is the newest ball in Storm's Thunder line, and on paper it looks like a slightly weaker Rocket Ship, so I wasn't sure how much difference I was going to see.  It actually hooks a few boards more than the Rocket Ship, and is earlier and smoother, reminding me of a stronger Victory Road Solid, and is different enough from the Rocket Ship for the release to make sense in the line.  I feel like the shape is the biggest difference from the Rocket Ship, as it starts up several feet earlier and is smoother, while the Rocket Ship gets easier length and is sharper on the backend.  While they might be fairly similar on house patterns, sport patterns is where you'll see the Torrent shine from straighter angles, and the Rocket Ship be better once the shot moves to deeper angles.  I said on my video for the Rocket Ship that IT was the very definition of a benchmark ball, and the Torrent may have just proven me wrong.

  The Torrent is the newest ball in Storm's Thunder line.  Its has the solid R2S Coverstock with the Booster HV core.  I drilled mine 5x4.5x4.5  60x5x70 pin down no hole.  I personally think the Torrent has similar ball motion like the Optimus Solid with more backend motion.  The overall strength of the Torrent is its smooth continuous
ball reaction.   It doesnt rev up too early or jump too hard off the friction.  I think it would be a lefty's dream ball to play up the boards.  Also the Torrent was a great choice for USBC nationals in Vegas and other sport patterns. Torrent is a good fit for anyone's tournament/ league arsenal.

If you loved the Rocket series, the Torrent is going to be a must have.  Storm modified the core to be a little longer and flippier than the Rocket series.  The cover is the IQ Tour Solid, Rocket Ship cover which is super clean, smooth and versatile.  I can use it on fresh and transition with it the whole set.  The Torrent generates plenty of midlane and creates a ton of backend and can be used on a house condition or a sport condition. 

The Storm Torrent is my favorite ball that is on the market right now. To me it is a stronger version of the IQ Tour Solid. This ball is some what over looked due to the fact it was released at the same time as the Timeless. I drilled mine with a 45 x 4 7/8 x 45 which put the ping in my ring finger. This gave me a very predictable smooth motion that can be used on a variety of different patterns. I also polished mine to give it some more length as the box surface reacted a little to strong for what I was looking for. With the layout and the surface change this ball became the first ball out of my bag on house shots, on the heavier sport patterns I will probably end up removing the polish and going back to the box surface. Regardless this ball is very very good and one I would recommend for all bowlers to have in their bags.

The Torrent is the replacement solid covered ball for the Rocketship in the Thunder Line of balls from Storm, the Bowler's Company. The Torrent uses the proven R2S solid cover, with a tweaked version of the Booster core called Booster HV, which raised the Rg to 2.56 and lowered the diff to 0.044 in 15lb bowling balls. The Torrent also comes out of the box with a 2000 grit abralon finish, which creates much more traction than the Rocketship out of the box. The Torrent has a Navy/Hunter green color combination that reminds me of the Victory road solid.
 
I used a 4 x 5 x 2 ¾ layout on my Torrent, the same layout as I used on one of the Rocketships I drilled, and reviewed late last year. Out of the box, the Torrent reads the lane much quicker, and covers more boards overall than the Rocketship, due to the box finish being so much more aggressive. For me, the reaction covered way too many boards, and needed too much oil to get it down the lane, and be usable for most conditions. I smoothed out the cover with a used 4000 grit abralon, on the high speed of of a two speed spinner. This smoother finish made the Torrent get down the lane about 5 feet longer, and have a harder move off the spot, and through the backend. The overall shape of the Torrent had a little too much backend reaction for me with this surface finish. The next step was to use Storm #1 compound, and really get rid of the underlying grit that came from the factory finish. With this cover preparation, the Torrent is now closer to what I had originally anticipated the ball motion to be like. With the cover being the same as on the comp Rocketship, the Torrent has more length and a touch more backend motion than the Rocketship.
 
I had very high expectations for the Torrent, as I really like all three balls that had the Booster core. The Torrent is a good ball, but seems to have a little bit smaller  window of use than what my Rocket, Sky Rocket and Rocketship have. With the box finish, the Torrent needs a lot of oil to get it down the lane, but the great thing about the R2S solid cover, is surface changes can really dial in the reaction for you.
