I've been waiting for a solid Trauma for a few months now, as I thought it would fit my game exceptionally well.  I like the idea of the strength of the Trauma with better control at the breakpoint.

Drilled one up with the pin beneath my ring finger (5") and the mass bias a bit right of thumbhole.  Balls gets down the lane and then does a really hard flip-into-roll movement.  If I adjust so that it makes that move right before it hits the pins, the results are devastating.

Drilled the other a bit longer and stronger.  Pin is 4", above finger line and mass bias still in strong position, with a 9" hole to bring the ball back to legal and add to the flip.  Also shined it up with Storm polish.  Ball goes much longer and definitely does the flip thing on the backend.  I have more of the lane to work with because it saves energy better than the one I didn't shine up.

One thing I noticed about the ball is that even out of the box is still doesn't like oily backends much.  Also, the 1000 grit finish doesnt' stay dull for very long, as it only takes a few games for the oil to get into the pores and give it some shine.  If you want a ball for heavy oil, take the surface down from 1000 to 600 or 800 and the ball will probably fare much better on the heavy stuff.

I give it an 8.75 out of 10 only because I haven't thrown the both of them long enough to get more of a sense for what they can do.  Definite 9-9.5 potential here.

I had this ball drilled 3 3/8 x 1 with the MC2 passed my vertical axis line for early roll and max revs.

I have used this ball a few times now and have done very good with it. It hits very hard, and has a nice early roll which works good on fairly oily lanes. It has great carry on fresh conditions, but after the lanes break down a little it has to be bagged because of the drilling. Overall a great ball which I would reccomend.

I give it 9.5 out of 10

Yes-Another great ball from Storm.
But can any one tell me why their top of the line equipment
has to smell like this?
If their funny balls got a fragnance or balls for kids, I could understand it.

First off, this is the first non-Columbia ball I have ever used.  Decided to give Storm a try based on the good reviews I had gotten from here. I think Storm may have earned a convert with this ball.

The ball was drilled with the pin right under the ring finger, the mass bias a bit left of the thumb, with the CG directly in the middle of my palm.  I normally put about 10-12 revs on the ball and throw around 16.5 mph...have managed to average 190-195 the last 3 years with this style.  My typical shot at my house is from 20 out to 10 and about 40 feet down hits the dry.  Got the ball drilled yesterday, but couldn't throw it at my house because of a full league, so I broke it out in league practice tonite.  I threw my regular shot and stood dumbfounded as it barely held brooklyn.  The last 10 feet on this ball is amazing the reaction it makes.  I struggled finding a shot in practice but did find something that worked...but still a good 10 board difference from my Complete Chaos.  When I missed left (which I did a few times the first 2 games) it went right thru the nose for some ugly splits.  Caused me to only manage 195 & 182 the first 2 games.  Toward the end of the 2nd I was getting more comfortable with the ball, and the 3rd game I got into a groove.  The 3rd game of this ball's life was almost my first 300 game, missing only because of a 10-pin in the 6th frame....everything else did not stand a chance with this ball.

Some other thoughts...this ball hits harder than anything I have personally thrown...even left a solid pocket 7-9 split the 2nd game.  Just came back and hit a little too hard.  The backend on this ball is definately a 10-plus...I had no problem carrying light hits, anything solid was total destruction, and the high pocket hits were tripping the 4-pin with ease.  Plus, I had messengers flying around like crazy, which is usually not that common with my game.

I've only thrown 3 games with it but my initial rating I can't help but giving it a 10 out of 10.  (May be a little bias from the near perfect game...hehe)  As I get more games on it I will post my results and what I have learned about the ball.

Good Bowling!

First let me thank all the reviewers, your input helped me a lot in the selection of this ball.

My profile in short, RH, med revs, med speed, 204 avg (House shot). Last Storm product I had was the Tropical Storm (Awful ball!) so I was a little bit apprehensive about trying any Storm products. Drilled this ball with Storm’s #2 layout, smooth arc, pin to the right and below my ring finger. I wanted a ball I could use on a variety of conditions that got down the lane but turned hard. Storm may have won me over!!

This ball sails through the heads and makes a smooth transition. When it makes its move, turn and burn!!  I play around 20, swing out to around 10. This ball lets me get out even further and still makes it back. This thing hits like a tank, whips out the corners with ease. First night I threw it, 646. This week in league, 718. This ball will pay for itself by Halloween.

The Trauma ER is the most fun I’ve had with a ball in years. Best ball I’ve thrown since the original Xcalibur. Overall 9.5 out of 10. (Nothing gets a 10) Here’s to 10 in the pit! Great job Storm!

I recieved this ball last Wed. and got it drilled up on thursday. Pin is 5 1/4' from the Eye of the Storm with the Pin 2" up and to the right of the ring finger. This ball was to originally have a 2-3' pin, however, the internet company I ordered it from messed that up. I was still able to get it drilled for length though so that wasn't a problem. This is the third storm ball I have purchased from the company (El nino, and El nino 2000) and this company just keeps getting better and better. I've only rolled four games on it, but I can clearly see that this ball needs OIL to do it's job. If you don't have oil, keep it in the bag. However, the thing that stands out more to me than the ball's hook is it's power. This ball's power is amazing. In the four games I rolled with it. I only left about 4 or 5 10 pins. I carried shots that I would have never thought I could carry. At my house, they put down a new shot where the backends are covered with oil. This ball handles this condition great. I had no problem with the oil on the backends what so ever. I give this a 9.5 out of 10. Great ball by Storm!

OK, i just bought this ball, Monday night and Used it for one game and some practice, during the night.  I got the balled drilled up with the Storm Layout #1 with the Pin abover the fingers, and the Mass Bias, in a strong pos. close to my PAL line. And it is sanded with 600 grit, to make it cut through the oil. It also has a small side hole 1 inch away from the eye of the storm. I threw some practice shots with this ball when i got it drilled up befor my Monday night league, and it really reacts, nicely, and really hooks on the conditions it was used on, the house uses a phoneix machine, 30ft oil buffed to 35, outside 10 oily, with sandpaper backends.  This ball well hooked like crazy on the fresh oil lol, although it did make it down the lane nicely, but hooked way too much, i was playing 20 to 10 sometimes 5 and still had too much hook, so it went in the bag, lol. But i did use the ball for the whole 3rd game because, where my Trauma starts to get squirly in the carry down, i gave the Trauma ER a go to see how it would do, and it did actually really good, once i found the line, it still hooked a ton, and hit with lots of power, and had lot of recovery room, but watch out if you miss left! But i really dont know what to rate this ball, but i will give it another review on 9/26/01 when i use it for the league i had it drilled for.

AWESOME BALL!!!

My style: Righty, Tweener, avergae revs and speed.  "Home" line is standing 22 (inside of left foot), crossing 13 out to 8.
Starting specs: 2.5 - 3" pin and 2.63 top weight.  Had mine drilled 1130.  Pin above and in between the fingers (about a half inch.  CG kicked out "hard" about 2.5 inches from my center of grip.  Mass bias in a strong position.  Now, I did not do anything to the surface.  All lanes were synthetic.  I first rolled it on a second shift...bad mistake!  The ball for me burned itself out in the heads and I had very little swing room.  I then tried it on a fresh shot...medium heavy 7 in and soaking wet 6 out.  Again, I had the same result that I had earlier on the "drier" condition.  So, I made my way to the pro shop and added a weight hole six inches out and at a perfect 45 degree angle from the pin.  Back on the lanes I go.  Fresh shot (same as above).  PERFECT!!!!  The hole gave me a slightly earlier roll then without it...also I made some adjustments to my thumb hole (was not getting out cleanly).

Overall:
VERY AGGRESSIVE BALL!!!
Great for medium heavy to heavy lanes.  Especially when you are having problems knocking out that nasty dime and your stronger stuff is makeing you look like a plastic surgeon because you are chopping at the nose so much.  Just pick up the Trauma ER with a nice length drilling and relax.

Drilled mine with a 5x5 pattern and shined with Black Magic. After using my ER for a few weeks, there were a few things i noticed right away. First this ball hits very hard, almost too hard in certain cases. What I also found was that this ball made a strong arc, but when crossing too many boards would left tends to leave alot of 10's (since i am right handed), but a friend whom i drilled it for had the same problem carrying 7's as a lefty. We both found that playing more direct and in the oil, the ball carried much better. Basically on the average house shot, just look a bit inside of the track area where more oil is, and the carry went up tremendously. Overall an excellent ball for the money, and it is also a good compliment to the original Trauma which could be used to cross boards or move to an inside line. Good 1-2 punch.

I haven't posted a review in some time now, but I haven't drilled anything in some time now either.
New season, new balls.  So here we go.

I'm a tweener who's comfort zone is playing deep inside.  My ball speed is a bit slower than average, but I put a decent amount of rotation on the ball.
I started will an ER that had 3-3.5 pin and 4 1/4 top.  I put the pin and the MC2 4 1/2" left of the VAL and the pin 5 1/2" from the PAP.  This put it above my middle finger(right handed).  The MC2 is on the grip center line, in the thumb and the Cg, just above the thumb on the negetive side of the grip.  No side weight and close to an ounce of thumb weight.

Now for the skinny......one word....."MONSTER"

I used this on a typical house condition, oil in the middle, big dry to the outside.  I was standing 40 and going in between 25 and 30 at the arrows.  This ball did nothing but rev up and strong arc to the pocket.  If I got it inside it played like there was no oil and still hit the back end hard, if I got it to the dry too quick, it revved up harder and went to the nose.  I expected that.  In the oil, this ball is tremendous.  On dry, it's too much ball and will burn up or go through the face every time.

So far this ball is very strong and the way it hits the pins is almost in slow motion.  They stay very low and mix well. I'm impressed!!!

I bowl next in a sport condition league.  I will be back with a review for that condition.

This is another great ball that storm has made it hooks a lot and it is good on oil. You want a ball that hooks a lot on oil and is not particle I would say go with the Trauma ER one of storm's best balls ever. I just shot a tournament and I started out with the trauma ER and I was riping the lanes up shoting some really high scores.

I would give this ball a rating of 10+ out of 10.

Not too long ago I shot a 299 in a practice game and I was so pissed that the 1 pin left did not fall but this is a great ball.

Here's my second review on this ball.  Check my first review for my style and the ball specs.

I used the ball on a sport condition league.  This is definatly NOT the ball for that shot.  At least not the drilling I had.  Maybe with more shine or an extra hole to tame the backend, but not with what I have.

The ER when playing a little straighter, started up much too soon and went high every time.  As I moved in, the same result happened until I got to a point where I could get the ball down the lane, but then had too much over/under.

I would say , house conditions(if you can play deep) or longer oil patters, this ball is a monster.  All in all I give the ball a thumbs up and would recommend it.  Just watch what you're bowling on.

The ER I got posed a bit of a problem for me in the drilling department. Pin was out 3.25" with 2.78 top weight. No big deal but the problem is that the CG was kicked out of line by 2-1/2" !!!!

After consulting Storm I decided to drill the ball 4x4 which put the MC2 about 2" past my PAP.

This ball was incredible out of the box. I had about 8-1/2" of track flare which is double of what I have ever had on any ball I have ever thrown.

Length was good and recovery good with excellent hit and carry.

The ball won't handle the super heavy oil but for anything less than a flood it'll be fantastic.
