Lanes: Synthetic, Oiled about 38-40 Feet Christmas tree pattern.
Lane condition: Heavy Oil to Med.Oil.

Bowling style for assessment: Tweener
Medium speed, medium -high revolutions.
Ball: Storm Trauma ER 3 ½ “ Pin out, drilled with Layout #2 and MC2 between A and B, 0 oz. of top weight.).

Assessment: This ball is awesome in the arms of one with lots of revolutions. Therefore it’s not a ball for me. But I’ve sold it to someone with the correct release (lots of hand) and this ball does create alot of pin action. If one was looking for an oil ball than this is NOT  it,  on medium oil it works best.

I'd give this ball a 7. Nothing spectacular.

I drilled this with the 4x3 that I like on most Storm reactives.  I required a little more kick out of the cg than usual to get the mass bias to the positive quadrant.  I ended up with more of a 9:30 pin to cg that would cause high track players or guys with lots of hand to flare over the fingers.  I expected the ball to roll much like my Trauma, but start a little earlier.  The first time I tried it on anvil lane with heavy long oil the mattte finish gave me a much tamer look with no sharp break point.  I purposely jammed the ball into the oil and didn't look for any dry area.  The carrying response was excellent on what appeared to be weak half pocket hits. I used it in league in another anvil lane house, this time on a tour pattern oiled 29 feet and buffed to 45.  My carry was more spotty, but the strikes came in bunches along with the 10's.  The 10's were all ringers, as a result of overpowering the pocket with a little too much ball speed.

In summary this one is a keeper.  It may be more versatile than my Trauma, even though it is more aggressive.  Also for you straighter players who stay away from Storm because you don't think you have enough hand this would be a good ball to break the stereotype.  The ER is great when you stay behind it with a little bit of hit on the upswing.

Hook in a box. This ball makes a cranker out of this stroker.I bowl second shift and follow a mixed league that are 80% straight bowlers so they really move the oil all over the place. The lanes are synthetic the first 24 feet and then gaurdian with med oil league shot (8-8). With my regular Trauma (15lb) I stand with my left foot on 28 and throw over 12-13 and it works well. With the ER (14lb) I stand on 35 and throw between the third and fourth arrow. There is no quit in this ball. I was worried about dropping to 14lbs but not any more.I have left a few 9 pins already. It gets through the heads with ease and then makes a left turn. Our backends are stripped daily so they are screaming. This ball needs oil. I am in the process of polishing it up to gain a little better control. Another great ball from Storm and well worth the money. Hope this helps. The ball is drilled 4.5 x 3.5.

drilled rev leveraged

i have med-high rotation, high track, 17 mph, 16 revs

this is by far the most agressive ball i own - noticabley more than my silencer, and my el nino 2k

the ball gets good length and then makes an aggresive move for the pocket

i have found that this ball works better when i slow down and swing it.  otherwise i dont get much recovery, or indeed much backend.

the best thing ive got for heavy oil

this ball is also rev-sensitive, and rotation sensitive, making it unpredictable or quite versatile, depending on how consistent you are.

definately a ball for the seasoned bowler, but if you can controll it, it can give you a decided advantage

OK, well its been over a month since i have had this ball and wow!!! I mean the only thing i can say bad about this ball which is my fault is the set up i had it drilled, which was the Storm layout #1, to have alot of midlane roll with alot of hook. Now the only problem this makes is that if i send this ball out to far on my league i use it on, it cant make a move back, because of the heavy oil on the lane, but when i am on target, this ball is the best, just like all the other storm stuff i have!  But this ball is great, so far my high game with it is 279,(dang 4 pin) but oh well, but this ball is great, it has a nice midlane read, and really sets up in the pocket when you get a grove going.  But anyways, this is Must ball to get. But do stay away from the setups that make the ball arc, i would say a skid/flip setup would work the best with this ball to beable to give some recovery to this ball.

Two words....GREAT BALL. The out of box reaction on this ball is great.
The pin is out 3 inches below my index finger. This ball has great lenth
with a powerfull snap torwars the pocket, don't even think about using
this ball when the lanes are scorched, otherwise another great ball by
Storm.

I first rolled my Trauma ER in out of box condition on dry wood lanes...(I know this is not the condition the ball was designed for but I did not have time to go to a different bowling alley).  The ball rolled early and then rolled out on the backend for a weak hit which is what I expected.  However, if I put a lot of hand in the ball it cleared the heads and had a massive hook on the backend (too much hook).

A couple of days later I went to a bowling alley with synthetic lanes which had medium oil with carrydown.  I first tried my Eraser (box condition) and it couldn't quite drive through the carrydown.  I then pulled out my Trauma ER which I polished before use.  I initally threw the Trauma ER with side rotation and got a mild reaction on the backend.  I then threw the Trauma ER with more forward roll and the ball turned into a monster (WOW).  My "A" game is a down and in shot (stroker) and this ball turned strong into the pocket.  Light hits also carried well and I left very few corner pins.

This is a great ball if you are having trouble with carrydown or heavy oil.  If you have good control of your release this ball may well help you obtain an 800 series, however if your release is erratic you will be fortunate to break 500
You will not see me on the PBA Tour, but I love the game!!!

Thank you for Reading this review.

The Trend for Ball Manufactures end of last year and now into this Year have been Balls that hook a lot overall but still clear the heads cleanly. Examples of others balls that have this reaction are the Apex Family, the Rock Family, and now the Trauma ER. This lightly sanded (around 800 grit) Reactive features a large core and coverstock that was designed to leave a wider footprint in oil. This should allow this ball to hook more in the heavier oil patterns.

My Tester for this ball was Tom Jones; known to us by T.J. T.J. is a lefty “Powerstoker”that likes to cover some boards. He is not the classic left-handed that plays down and in. More of a modern contemporary game. We drilled the ER with a Pin Out 4” and positioned it 3 3/8 from his P.A.P. We placed the Mass Bias at an 80-degree angle. Tom bowls at 3 different houses. Two that are wood and one that is a Synthetic Panel.

At all three houses the Trauma ER has a strong overall hook but is different than most reactive’s in regards to the ball’s last 20 feet. This ball makes more of a snap reaction where the Apex’s and Rock’s are a strong arc. This ball has a strong continuation into the pins with an explosive hit. It does not hook overall as much as a Heavy Particle ball like a Monster, or HPH Family but does out hook an Apex by a few boards.  The Coverstock is easy to tweak for different conditions, but we have found that the ball tends to want to come back to the “Out of Box” condition. If you sand it with a green Scotch Brite Pad with the 3 game period the ball will smoothen back out to the 800 sand finish.

Other slight negatives is that the ball reads the oil and dry quickly thus making it harder to control on some conditions. We tended to see a little under/over reaction at times.

Still The ER is well worth the $200 plus price range and is geared for all types of Bowlers with the Correct Drilling on Medium to Oily Conditions. If you want Raw Power and Hard Hitability consider this Latest Product from Storm as your choice.

Thank you for reading this review and best of luck in your bowling endeavors.

I was looking for a ball with a little bit more recovery than my El Nino Gold which I had drilled pretty tame. I used a similar drilling with the ER, pin at about 12:30 (just above and to the right of ring finger), mass bias just left of the thumb hole. GREAT results. The cover to core marriage with this ball is perfect for lanes that are on the oilier side of medium. The ball clears the heads easily and has a hard arcing back end...very readable and terrific carry. The ball paid for itself 4x the first 10 days I owned it. Caveat: be careful to maintain the factory finish (1000 matte) if you decide to resurface this ball. It took me 3 tries before I figured this out, I thought that the ball had died but it was just my brain. Repeat: too much surface will kill the back end on this ball, the factory surface is ideal! This ball is definitely in a league of it's own, it will come back from anywhere (I can't even imagine putting a more aggresive drilling pattern on this ball) but still is very readable. Not a great ball for fried out heads, but you wouldn't be using it for that anyway.

Overall a terrific ball from Storm...and hats off to them for creating equipment with varying reactions, not just creating a "ball-of-the-month" club!

This is my second review of the Trauma ER.  The ball (out of box condition) works very well on medium lane conditions, but I have encountered some heavy oil with carrydown in league and wanted to see what this ball could do.  I tried bowling with the Trauma ER (out of box condition) and it wasn't quite strong enough on the backend.  The ball just would not drive through the pocket due to the carrydown.  I switched to my Colossus (400 grit finish) and did not have a problem destroying the rack.

I returned the next week with my Trauma ER, however this time with a 320 grit sanded finish.  The lane conditions were very close to the previous week (heavy oil with carrydown).  The backend reaction from this ball was nothing but impressive.  While the other bowlers were complaining about the lanes ("My ball ball just won't come up... There's too much oil on the lanes...), the Trauma ER was hooking with authority and throwing messengers around like there was free hook on the backend.

I am very impressed with the Trauma ER.  Don't be afraid to change the coverstock to match your bowling style and the lane conditions.
You will not see me on the PBA Tour, but I love the game!!!

My TRAUMA ER has a 3 inc pin, and 3.50 tw. My ball is drilled strong with the pin to the right of my ring finger for right hander and a weight hole to make it legal.
I'm a low tracker with 16 to 17 mph. ball speed and above average revs( a tweener) so I have no problem getting the ball down the lane, its the oily lanes usualy give me trouble. The lanes I bowl on are wood oiled gutter to gutter but short, not sure of the length, and there is allways carry down, because owner does not beleive in stripping the back ends.
Well all I can say is this ball is awesome!!!! I have been bowling with it for 3 months now and it is the best ball I have ever thrown, it hits hard and keeps the pins low. I did take the cover stock down to 800 grit to get a little more traction, so dont be afraid to change the cover on this one. Also I have not seen this ball die in the slightest bit, so dont believe anything you hear and only half of what you see.

had regular Trauma but was looking for sometthing to help out when a little slicker.pro shop told me he just took in a 15lb. ER with 4.75 top weight with 4'pin. told him drill it. pin above fingers and shine it. ended up with leverage drilling and 2.75 top weight.ball is a monster.turns corner hard and just keeps going. been holding 207-208 avg all year but 2 week with ball shoot 290-298-237=825. been with Storm balls for 3 years now and i figured why change now. give this ball a 10 outta 10.

I bought this ball about a month ago. I have not had a lot of chance to use it in the league I bowl in because it hooks quite a bit more than I need in that house.
I am right handed bowler with medium speed and revs. I had the ball drilled with the Storm layout #2. With the MC2 on the PAP, I wanted a ball that would react more in the midlane then what I have been using. That is actually what I got! I left the cover as it was out of the box.
Last night the lanes in the league I bowl in were a lot wetter than usual and I pulled this one out of the bag and used it all three games and only had to move two boards left the whole night. The ball gets down through the heads very clean and then at about 30 feet starts to rev and move left. It makes a nice gradual move to the hole and then just smashes the pins. The move is very controlable and easy to read. This ball hits very hard and the carry is great. Did not leave a single ten pin the whole series and the only balls I did not strike on were the shots I eased up on the ball and it broke through the middle. I missed two easy spares (my fault) and did throw one split. All this for a 214-266-265- 745. This is thew first Storm ball I have thrown in a while, but there will be more. I love this ball and really feel it is a great addition to my equipment, and it smells fantastic. I give it a nine out of ten. Thanks Storm!!

i bought this ball this evening and can't wait to try it out wif my bowling teammates, on the reviews some gave a 10 out of 10. This makes me can't resists to getting the ball immediately from the pro-shop. At a 15lb, i believe this ball will surely hit the pin hard in the backend and delievers great strikes on even oily conditiions.  A must have ball for oily conditions

This is probably my favorite Trauma. I have had them all(my response will not be in until next week). But this ball is a great ball for a wet/dry shot. This ball does not (for me) out hook the Recovery but I can use it on a wider variety of conditions.
