I received this ball from someone @ my center who just plain didn't want it anymore.(luck, right? ) Here's the specs:

1.5" pin
drilled pin 4" from my PAP, CG 5" from PAP, no weight hole
this ball has the out-of-the-box finish, but I polished it up a little.
I wanted to use this for drier lanes, like 3rd/4th game of leagues when my Vicious Particle isn't getting the job done.  So I went to a house with  a similar shot to my home house, and decided to give it a whirl.

The lanes had a 42' standard league shot out, and they'd been used the night before for leagues.  Exactly the conditions I wanted to try it out on.

I was able to stand 35, throw 15 to 10, and hit the pocket with the Vicious Particle.  But, I wasn't carrying light hits.  I gradually moved right, and the ball would either not carry the 10 pin, or dive through the beak.  I picked up the recovery, stood 30, played 13-8 and I was carrying everything.  Messengers creaming the 10 pin, light hits tripping the 4 pin, high hits carrying the 4-9.  This ball was working so well it seemed to good to be true.

The day before, I used this on a 47' Flood, with clean backends and an out-of-bounds outside of the 5 board ... I was standing 18, throwing straight-up 10 and the ball would not make the turn in time.  The more right I moved the more pinpoint accuracy I had to have.  Missing right would cause the ball to ride the oil and never roll, leaving 8-10s in the pocket, and light 5-7's.  Whereas my Vicious Particle had a little play with the original line and still get to the pocket and carry.

I know comparing the Vicious Particle to the Recovery may not be too helpful if you've never used the ball, but it's the only ball I've had a chance to compare it to.  Should you have any questions, just drop me a message.  I live on this stupid computer, you'll have a response very shorly afterwards.  Thanks.

Good luck, and good bowling!

Ball is 16 lbs, drilled with the Storm #2 drill, mass bias in the B position.  I am a lefty stroker, average speed, average revs.  When I first got this ball, "used" last summer, I could not get it to respond very well.  It did not seem to break, even on the driest conditions, so I put it away.  A couple of weeks again at the midpoint of the league, they changed the oil pattern and I was frustrated trying to find the shot.  Out of desperation I brought the Recovery one night, because I did not know what else to try.  The Recovery read the lanes perfect and the conditions seemed ideal.  Very smooth rolling ball, under these conditions, the best carry I have ever had.  I have only left 2 seven pins in the last 2 weeks (2 leagues a week).  I am more likely to leave a six pin than anything else.  Overall, I would give this ball a 9 in the right conditions.

got this ball about the same time as I got my Ultra Hot.  Ball is 16lbs, 1" pin  drilled with pin under and to the right of ring finger with cg directly below with the MC2  under and to the left of my thumb.  Let's just say this ball is appropiately named.  This ball will recover from just about anywhere and still have the power to  rip the deck.  Wanted this for medium-heavy oil that will still blast through carry down and I was not disappointed.  The only fault I have seen with it is the ball's angle can get too sharp and will leave some tenpins.  Overall, 11 out of 12 strikes.  Another awesome ball by Storm.

HMMM...let me see...I think this ball finally deserves a review!!

Words to describe this ball....INCREDIBLE!

Prior to purchasing this ball, I hadnt really owned any of the high-powered particle Storm balls, but after this ball I havent looked anywhere else.

Where should I start?  OK, here goes:

I purchased this ball in spring of 2002, I've been wanting to post this review but was always to lazy to...Sorry Storm!

Initially, I was looking for a ball to use on Medium Heavy - Heavy Oil condition and at first I was disappointed in that the particle pearl coverstock didnt read the midlane early enough. But it definitely found its place in my arsenal form the medium heavy - medium condition.  This ball hits like a truck!  It carries well for light and off hit pocket shots, but determined and exceptional when flush in the hole!

The drill pattern on this ball:

Pin is about 1" right of my ring finger with the MB place and 1" past my VAL.  This ball revs up well and with the coverstock it reads the latter part of the midlane saving some of that energy for its strong arcing backend reaction.

This ball is very responsive to different hand positions in that it still maintained its hitting power whether you are 'ripping the cover of it' or 'suitcasing'.

On your typical houseshots, this ball is definitely satisfying whether it be on a 'tophat' or Christmas tree pattern...just find the breakpoint and this ball will do the rest.

Took this baby down to Hoinke Classic, this was the only ball I pulled out of my bag.  For the record: 2 300's ( 1 in the doubles, and another in my team event) and 800 in the doubles event. Unfortunately, I was sitting in first in the All-Events but by the end of the tournament I ended up in 4th.  This ball averaged about 250 for my best 10 games.

GREAT JOB STORM, THIS BALL IS AWESOME!  PROBABLY THE MOST UNDERRATED BALL OF 2002.

Sorry guys but I just couldn't resist drilling up a third one!LOL! We had some blems in the proshop on sale and well what the heck. We did a label leverage( 3 3/8x 5). Started out with this ball at a 1000 grit polish and it hit very bad and somewhat hooked out. Talked to the proshop manager and he recommended polishing it up with some black magic polish. Well after the amazing fleet, she rolls just as good as the others. The hitting power never seizes to amaze me in this ball. I honestly think this is one of storm's best ever. This is just an all out great ball! A wide variety of players have enjoyed throwing this ball, it suits many conditions well. If for any reason you don't like this ball trying adjusting the surface and see what turns up.

I bought the ball of a buddy for 20$. I threw it the next day, and I was amazed. The ball has so much power to the pocket I leaves a bone crushing chill when you hit the pocket. I polised the ball in the polish machine and it gave the ball even more backend.  I would recomend this ball to higher reving bowlers on mid to high oil patterns.

I took this ball to the ProShop, where my buddy works (He owns the ProShop, I work in the Bowling Center!)
Anyways, Enough about me you came for the ball review!!!

I had this ball drilled up with the pin placed about 3/4" below the ring finger, and the CG 1 1/2" below that!  I have NO inserts just conventional finger-tipped with a thumb slug.  I couldn't wait to throw this ball.  When he was finally done drilling it, I threw it as soon as I got my hands on it!  I threw it over the 16 board and swung it out to the 11 board and it came up flush against the pocket!  And let me tell you this ball is very forgiving!  It also hits like a Brahma bull!!  I usually have about a 3-5 board variance in my shot, and when I release it right it blows right through the pocket, leaving nothing but dust in it's trail!!!  The house I bowl at lays out a Christmas tree oil pattern.  I am a average-rev, High speed bowler and this ball is the perfect match for my style!!  Once again another great ball by STORM!!!

THIS BALL WAS HORRIBLE!!!!  I thought the response died!!!  HA!!! This sucker died after 3 series.  After is sucked up a little oil, it was done.  Not to mention the box reaction sucked.  I later used this ball to make my closet smell like mint!!!  Thats the best i got out of it!  Overall review....3 out of 10!!!

Bad ball storm!!!  No wonder the trauma series ended suddenly.

Brought this ball out of "retirement" recently (after trying to sell it numerous times) and I am glad I did.

16lbs
2-3" pin
Top: ??
Drilling: Pin stacked left of ring finger, cg swung outside palm, fairly large weight hole.

First off, this ball was good when I got it almost 2 years ago, but after doing some work to it (redrilling the thumb, new grips, shined it up), now this ball is great. With my speed/revs I am able to play between 2-3rd arrow out to 5 and the ball revs up quick and makes a fairly angular move to the pocket. Ball seems to act more as a reactive than a particle, but definately revs quicker. 2 houses used in:

House 1: 38 foot wall, 8-8 spread fresh backends, ball clears the heads, revs in the mid's and makes like I said a sharp move into the pocket due to the fresh backs. Pack it in the pocket and corners carry well. Light hits are decent, high hits not so decent (can leave those nice configurations). Great scores and great overall carry makes it a winner here.

House 2: Similar pattern, cept with sloppy carrydown (fresh shot in the morning, open play during the day plus early league, reoil in afternoon with no strip, then the afternoon league in front of us). Spotty and bad to say the least. In this case, playing a little more outside, or a "typical lefty shot" the Recovery  still skids through the heads but part of the mids as well and make more of an arc into the pocket, because of the carrydown and ball using up more energy revving in the soup. In this house though, pocket hits dont carry nearly as well, but light hits carry the world (at least on the right side...). Reaction is consistent, but carrying flat out sucks. Light hits carry better than house 1, but not as good as others with different equip. Pocket hits carry worse then House 1, leaving more corners and 6 pins. Get it a bit wide and the ball wont wrinkle, get it in a bit and it backs up before going through the face. Moral of this story is the lanes arent as good they could be (dont worry 1/2 our scratch league isnt coming back next year) so the ball struggles to carry. Not so good scores and carry is tough, not so good here.

Overall this ball is a gem. Outhooks almost all my equipment, hits great, carries well when there isnt oil on the pindeck. Have tried ball polished and dull, for me dulled up seemed to burn out real quick and didnt hit hard, shined up ball made a sharper turn and hit a lot harder increasing my carry %. So glad I didnt sell it.....

Bought this ball about 4 months ago and I bowl on average 100 games a month.  Had it drilled for a mild straight hook and I could not do anything with it. (my ignorance; not the balls shortcoming).  Started playing with the surface by scotchbriting and then polishing. I guess I need to get it redrilled for a stronger hook.  After I have THOROUGHLY cleaned the ball, as it absorbs a LOT of oil, I can get decent end land action, but you gotta stay on top of wiping the ball down or know when to put it away.  Pin action off of this ball is powerful and I get a lot of bad pocket strikes which count as strikes nonetheless.  A lot of Brooklyns come through also.  I like the ball, but need it redrilled for a more powerful hook.  Still looking for the perfect one though... Ya'll take care and stay out of the heat. God, it is hot here in Phoenix!!!

I purchased this ball from Danny Wiseman on ebay about a month ago for $30.  He had used it in one tour event.  I love the ball.  I am a stroker and usually throw the ball over ten and into the pocket.  This ball really holds during a house shot (synthetic lanes / sythetic approaches) and knocks out the 10 with authority.  My first time with the ball I shot 718 (204, 258, 256).  I am beginning to see that I don't need the big dollar balls with the big PBA hook to shoot 200.  I see too much of the live by the hook, die by the hook in my house.  The Recovery gives me a leaway of 5 boards and like other reviews before me if you hit it light it really does watch them fight and knock down all the pins.  I am beginning to see that I want to use particle balls with a symentrical core so I don't get the big jumps at the back end that happen all the time.  My ball has the pin over the ring finger about and inch and I love how the ball goes down the lanes and then a nice smooth snap into the pocket.

If your buddy has one sitting around and you really want a nice Christmas gift offer him $10 (he and his wife will be happy to have one of the 15 other balls he has out of the house) and you can laugh all the way to the bank as you start to hang him week to week and win the weekly high game pot.
