I am new here and very young. I'm only 13. But I was one of the best bowlers in my leagues. when I needed a new and heavier ball I turned to the X factor. It has a smooth roll and hits the backend real well. So far it has worked on every type of lane condition. It's especially good on synthetic lanes. I also won a juniors tournament with this ball. Before my average was a 160+. now it is a 190 and going higher!

Another great ball from Storm.  Both my brother and I have X-Factors, but they're completely different balls.  Here's the Specs:

X-Factor #1:
3.5-4" pin
Pin 4" from PAP, CG 3" from PAP/ slighlty above my grip center, weight hole on my PAP.

I'm using this ball on a standard 40' Top Hat, clean backend.

This ball goes long, starts to hook, and explodes when it grabs the dry backends.  I'm able to play straight up 8 when they're fresh, and I can move as far inside as swinging 18-8 and this ball still finishes strong, very VERY few 10 pins. The only pin that poses a problem when the lanes break down is the 9 pin.

X-Factor #2
2-2.5" pin

This one's layed out to complement a Shock Trauma when the lanes get funky after a game or two.  The pin is inside the Bridge, and the CG is directly under it, slightly kicked towards the PAP.

At first we tried it without a balance hole, but it's reaction was so strong that it was out-moving the Shock Trauma.  I took it back to Mike D'Ambrosio(www.coachscornerproshop.com) and had a balance hole placed on the PAP for a little more flare/length out of it.  This ball STILL wants to grab a little early, so we're going to have to polish it up a little.

Overall, this ball is very strong, yet very controllable.  We're going to add a little polish to #2 to try and tone it down a little, so as it will serve as a better complement to the Shock Trauma.

Happy New Year!!  Best of luck in the second half of this 2002-2003 Bowling Season!

LAYOUT:
Started with a 16lb 2oz; 2.90 Top
Pin is @ 12 under the fingers w/ the RAD under the thumb.
Straight up in plain english!

This is the piece the Storm throwers have been waiting for since the Fire Storm of 1995. It's the return of the big pearl!

This ball just needs some oil to guide it to the break point window. The only thing you need to do as a player is not help the ball, because if you do it will result in the shape of OVER/UNDER! Let the ball do it's job please.

In short this ball tells you where the oil ends and backends begins. I have used this ball on a 44 foot sport pattern as well as a 34 foot house shot. The ball adapts well to the playing field, oh yeah, this ball HITS!

This is my first Storm ball since the El Nino Gold and all I can say is that the X Factor is one of the best Storm balls that I have thrown. It gets to the breakpoint and just goes. If you want to throw this ball you better keep your speed up because if you don't the ball tends to less forgiving. This is a great tournament ball that is very easy to keep in play and should be in everyone's bag. I know it will be in mine for a long time.

Well, i used this ball today in a scratch tournament at Northway Lanes in Muskegon Mich.  Lanes are synthetic, oil pattern was a med-heavy pattern, and was probably a simple tophat pattern, but it was to the gutter on the rightside.
Anyways, i had a excellent reaction with this ball. shooting games of 229-264-233-217, in the 4 games of qualifying, and then shot 257-158, in match play, and the 158 game was pretty bad, cuz i had 3 straight splits on one lane. but anyways, besides that game.
Oh Another thing, if anyone says that this ball leaves too many TEN PINS, well they dont know what they are doing. IN 6 games with this ball, i left 1 TENPIN and that was the last shot of my 257 game. the only single pin leaves i left, besides the one tenpin was a couple 4 pins, one 7pin, and a couple other single pin leaves from either comming in light or high, But besides that this ball is GREAT!

I was looking for a ball that I could play down and in without the sharp breakpoint that leave corner pins.  What I got was the smoothest breakpoint from a ball I have ever seen! This ball seems to rev up the last 10-15 feet without over reacting.  I have never had a ball that was so predictable yet carry shots I thought had no chance of carrying!  I have not even been 1% dissappointed with this ball!

BTW, I am RH and have been throwing this ball standing on 23-25 (3-5 boards left of the center dot) and rolling the ball over 18-20 out to the 9-11 board and back to the pocket.  This  ball gives me a punch on the backend without the skid-snap breakpoint.  It has very smooth arc/break that continues through the pindeck.

I used Storms Layout #1 on their RAD drilling instruction.

From what I have seen this ball can adapt to just about all styles.  I have seen crankers, tweeners, strokers and the grip 'n rip have really good success with this ball.  If you are wondering how it looks going down the lane, just watch the pros on Sunday, there seems to be 1 or 2 throwing one on there every week on the ESPN finals!

For me this was a very controversial ball. Got a reccommendation for this ball as it is supposedly the most versatile ball produced by the good people of storm have produced.

Drill - Pin placement 4-1/4" from the PAP, with the RAD placed at the PAL. Basically this drill is made to combat its skid/snap reaction and give it a more controlled breakpoint.

Reaction - This ball reacts similar to the specs provided with the ball, but even though i gave it a more controlled drill, give it a fresh backend and this ball bites. It gets through the oil well on any condition (unless the heads are dead) and comes up harder than any heavy-oil ball storm have made. In Terms of its reaction on the lane, i reccommend this ball for medium to heavy conditions medium carrydown.

Hit - This is what is keeping this ball in my favorites list, while it does have some problems kicking out the ten-pin when playing deep, give it a bit of hand and a bit of speed and this baby sends the pins scattering, i haven't seen so many messengers in my life. Its main advantage in carry is light hits, i think this is produced by its angle into the pins when the ball has been put out into the oil.

I strongly reccommend this ball for players with consistent hand on the ball, as this ball can be a bit hard to read.
I give this ball a 9.5/10

I am a low rev player with a low track.  I have the rad just below my thumb with the pin to the left above my ring finger (I'm a lefty).  I had this ball drilled for a down and up shot and let me tell you I got it.  This ball out of the box I shot 194-213-174-234-256-215-259-248 on medium oil and standing right swing left. If I missed my shot it came back like a homing pigeon to the 1-2 pocket.  I own a Rock-On, Reaction Roll and a Trauma Response (which I don't like one bit).  This ball out hooks all these!!!!  I would recomend this ball to anyone.

UPDATE: After using this ball with much success, I ended up selling my Vicious Particle.  My X-Factor hooks about 10 boards more than my Particle, and the X-Factor had a more tame drilling.  I'm definately going to drill another one of these for the summer, no doubt about it.

Find a load of oil or leave this ball alone, I changed the condition 3 times and only when they were dead flooded did this ball tame down. If your a tweener or just have tired wrist this is your call, if you even roll the ball over beware of this one, it hooks up.

I've had the X-Factor since it came out but have been waiting to post a review on it.  First off I am 13, throw average speed and am know as the "man with the hand" so I get a few revs.  Ok, when I first got and threw it, it went thru the nose every time. I mean the snap is devastating. The second thing I noticed was that it carried everything.  I mean when it hit the pocket you could hear it thru the whole place.(50 lane center)Well after a few months it is still good. I rolled my first 700's with it and did very well at the Youth city tourney and qualified for the pepsi tourney at boardwalk bowl in orlando. O, and I shot my first 300 with it. So this is all I can say about it, and if your not convinced that it is the shizzy then your missing out on the best ball I have ever thrown. Might I suggest drill pattern 2b. It's great!

P.S. The smell is also killer!!!

Thanks.

This is my 2nd review of this great ball and all I can say is that I am more impressed with it the longer I have it. When I first got the ball I was having some carry issues with it so I decided to try moving right with it everywhere I bowl and the carry has become unbelievable. I have discovered that the X Factor is at its best from a straighter line, the farther left you play the worse the carry seems to get. As I said in my previous review, this is the best Storm ball that I have thrown and I have thrown a lot of them. I give this ball a 9.5 out of 10 only because of the inability to play inside with it but I don't mind that at all. Go buy the ball you won't regret it.

in addition to my voodoo this was another great purchase...although i dont think the hit is as nice as my voodoo it still drills the pocket...ive been able to use it on a variety of shots....from a decent amount of oil to a medium-light patern....this ball is provides the versistilty every bowler can use..i recommend picking one up if it wont be to much of a burden on your wallet...

I had this x-factor drilled up with the 2b drilling ,it is a favorite
of mine ,I took this ball nib condition out to practice and realized  real fast that this coverstock had to be tweaked ,I took it down with some quicksand ,to get rid of the skid.
The next time I used this ball was on a 45ft christmas tree pattern that is pretty challenging compared to the 40 foot pattern that most houses use.
I shot a 711 series with this ball ,all my spares was solid 10 pins.It is like most other balls that it hits too hard and will leave alot of corner pins ,This ball held the same line for the entire set ,very respectable.
I would recommend this ball but be prepared to adjust the coverstock.

the buckeye as mrs.teach says in third person and still bringing it.
