!Q Tour Pearl 1st impression and results
« on: January 09, 2013, 11:13:03 PM »
Okay so I've been having a pretty hard time with bowling in the last 2-3 months. I was looking at getting something new to replace my Storm T-Road Pearl. I've had the T-Road since the day it was released, it's been losing performance in the last year or so. I was looking at the !Q Tour Pearl to put in the spot and well, it's a bit more aggressive then I ever thought possible but in a good way really.

My !Q Tour Pearl is drilled with the pin over ring finger CG stacked and the reaction on a 40' THS synthetic lanes was a smooth but hard arch at the end of the pattern. I was shooting 3rd arrow to about 5 board at the break point. It is comparable to my Victory Road in overall hook but not as sharp off the pattern.

I'm hoping the reaction will tame down a little with a few more games on it otherwise I think a coverstock adjustment might be in order. Thinking 2000 abralon with polish to help tame down the ball just a touch.

Shot 214, 224, 210 tonight for my best series in roughly 3 months. I also had issues with pulling the shot inside tonight. About half of my shots were pulled 2-4 boards inside tonight, if I let the ball roll out to its intended break point down lane it struck every time. I can only imagine what kind of series I might have had had I not of had an issue with tugging the ball all night.

Awesome ball so far! Looking forward to next week and hopefully I can work out my issues with pulling the ball every other shot.

Nice bowling Mike. I calmed mine down by using a used wet (soaked) 4000 abralon pad by hand and it took just a little of the sharpness off of the break point and rounded it off just a bit. Really like this ball, and hope you will continue to have more sucess with it.

Okay cool, not sure how I'll get the 4000 pad but I'll get something figured out. Might even take it back to the pro shop and have them do a little tweaking to knock off the edge down lane, that's really my only complaint as of right now. Really looking forward to bowling next week with this new ball. Next week tuesday I'll be working on getting relaxed with the ball, I kept tugging the ball all night long knowing darn well this ball needs no help what so ever moving left down lane lol.

i hit mine with compound to smoothen it out a bit and i have to say, besides a virtual gravity and hyroad, this is the best ball i have ever thrown and will throw for quite a while. its extremely versatile, and does exactly what you want. hooks at just the right spot, with some controll and midlane to it. phenomenal idea by storm with the iq tours!

I did one 5x3-1/2 with 15/16x2-1/2 weight hole on axis and this ball is freaking awesome. Both IQ Tours are awesome products that Storm produced.

I was told that after 12-15 games the ball should start tame down some. I can only hope because if not then I will have to make some coverstock adjustments to help smooth the hook some.

Because you are going to work a track on it.....think it will be more like after 50 games.

Why wouldn't you hit it with a new 4000 abralon/SIAair pad to see the difference in reaction especially on house patterns?  Afraid of not being able to return it to 1500 polished?

Nah not afraid of changing the surface on any ball in my bag. My T-Road was 2000 with high gloss polish, my Victory Road Pearl was brought down to 1000 polish. The only 2 balls that were left in the OOB finish were my Natural and Marvel Pearl. I'm sure I'll be making a 4000 polish adjustment in a few weeks. Right now I'm only changing 1 thing at a time, I changed my hand span to one that actually fits me. So far so good but I want to take a couple more weeks before making a surface change yet.

I'd never wait for 2 weeks.  I took my AMF Bullwhip SE after one week on trial to P4000 new SIAair from OOB  and crush with it.  Never wait I always say.

If you wait that long the surface in the track area has already changed anyhow.

Well I'm doing another practice session next Tuesday, depending on how the 1st few games go I might do the adjustment after a few games. Basically going to work on trusting the shot and freeing up my entire arm swing with the new span.

I like to make absolute certain that the change I have in mind is going to be the right adjustment, if I make the wrong adjustment I can't change it until the next week or so. I don't have my own spinner, sand paper, or even polishes. All I have is a bottle of reactashine that I use every few weeks. I'd love to have my own ball spinner with the proper sand paper and compounds.
