*~SECRET AGENT VIDEO is HERE!~* from videoballreviews.com
« on: August 07, 2007, 06:43:03 AM »
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LasB8MmaSzo

It is being hosted on youtube for now (i have been fighting with putfile for a day or two now with it)...so eventually the quality will be a little better

And i will be embedding it on my site later tonight!  I will keep you all updated...

My take on this ball:

This is one of the strongest rolling balls i have thrown in a LONG time...it gets into a real heavy roll at the end of the pattern and absolutly just sends pins everywhere...and with surface changes it is VERY versatile...this one will definetly be in my bag for the tougher stuff as it is very consistent off of the dry thanks to the light particle load...

Any questions just feel free to ask!

One question - when you made surface changes (1000+polish looks a ton better than 4000 or 1000, IMO), and threw the shots, which of the two patterns were you on?

the longer heavier one...its basicly a blended house shot with a few more loads in the front...hope that helps!

as a side note...the 1000 + polish made it more angular off of the spot....but i actually liked the 1000 without polish, it allowed me to control the breakpoint better, but thats the best part about this ball...if you dont like the look you are getting you can change the surface and get something totally different from what you have...its all about what you are looking for and what your preference is...

other balls i have tried surface changes with did not perform as well as this one at those 3 surfaces

I plan on keeping one at 1000 for some oil and one at 2000 and cleen and sheen for shots with clean backends...

Very nice video! Mine is at 4000 abralon, but I think I'll keep a 2000 pad with me just in case I come to too much oil.

I have a question, would you say this ball:
--Is a good heavy oil ball that rolls well in the front and has a good backend.  From what you mentioned, it seems so.
--I love Storm, so I would like to keep the gear.
-My Line Is Here:
--Shift
--Domination
--Ace
--Vertigo
--Flash Point
--Spare
-I am a stroker/Low Revs/Med Axis/Med Speed (16-17.5)

Jk,

For the most part, it is a heavy oil ball...it may need a surface adjustment down to 2000 or lower for it to be a true heavy oil, but it handles its fair share!

From what little experience i have had with storm so far i would put it somewhere above or below your shift depending on what condition you are bowling on...the shift will have more backend on most shots but may skate a bit too far on the heavier volumes and carrydown, which is where you could go to the secret...it will definetly handle more oil than your domination tho!

Hope that helps

Sadly, I can't say that I have had the real oppertunity to bowl on any regular "league" or "THS" that has been fresh yet, so I can't really say where my Shift can really play.

But on the PBA Experience patterns, it (Shift) goes a bit to long and won't really push through as well as I want it too.  This usually goes towards the real long patterns (37+ Med-Heavy Sport & LONG Dense House/Tourny/Sport Shots). The typical league and house shots are usually 38.5ft+ with a medium-heavy layout-it's quite hard for a house shot...

When I talk to the guys at the shop and at the other alley-they say I need a ball  that gets going quicker and has more power built in.  So something that gets going faster and gets off on the backend and breakpoint.

Nice video once again! The secret agent looks like a real nice ball in my area and it is very strong, quite a bit stronger than the shift.

Nice Video BAR! I must get me a Secret Agent now to complement my Special Agent. Would the Shift be worth keeping if I get a Secret Agent?

The Special Agent is a great ball once you get it where it wants to go.  I haven't gotten a chance to use my Special Agent much on a regular house shot (it's a killer ball on the PBA Experience patterns though!).  However, I have thrown a few practice games with it on house patterns (including a 300 in practice, which means next to nothing).  I had great luck using a 1500-2000 abralon finish, keeping the ball in the oil as much as possible.  If I let it out into the dry a ton, it would hit like a sponge because it wanted to roll up too early.  However, with a tighter line that kept it in the oil longer, the pin action was phenomenal and the ball was very forgiving about missing left or right a board or two.

I completly agree with Dan on this one...the Special is a great ball especially on the tough shots (I take it every week to my PBA league and have used it with success on ALL 5 patterns at 2000 Abralon)

The secret compliments it very well, with a little less hook potential and a little smoother on the backend due to the particle...my special can FLY off the dry, just about as much as my black widow...

As far as the shift comparison from what i have seen out of that locally will be more angular in the backend, whereas the secret will read the pattern a little earlier and a little smoother...someone who has owned both balls may correct me tho...the only two storm balls i own are the secret and the special, but they sure wont be my last...

(quick continued jack)
I agree with Dan.  This thing needs some oil and it is not a massive snapping ball, it is a smooth roller.  I have had fun with it on oily house shots, the Shark, Scorpion, and for about game 1-2ish on the Viper (haven't tried Chameleon yet).  I wouldn't want to try to use this ball on my drier/short/walled-up league.

If this ball isn't destroying worlds, it is probably not being used on the right condition or you could be trying to play the wrong line with it.  I get more of a big gradual hook from it.  The carry I get from this ball is something else.  I consider it to be my heavy oil ball.
