Dude, I can relate with the revs and the ball hooking. Mr. Straight Ball is a joke about what my ball does not do.
Here's my 2¢...I bowl those same conditions as you and find the weaker pieces tend to not get the job done against a field of big core/cover throwers. I'll give you some options, Attitude, solid Street Rod or Rapid.
Attitude -- this ball is not a jump off the spot ball, it makes a smooth transition & is easy to read.
Street Rod -- I tossed this ball at Open House in it's box condition, I was surprised! It was easy to get down the lane and it was not missing the breakpoint. I ordered one myself because I want a solid I can use on a regular basis.
For you, I'd watch your pin to PAP plus the pin to VAL distances. If you are "taking something off" to let the ball work, it sounds like the layout + ball are not the right match. I take something off to hold the ball back, it's already doing to much as it stones the 9 all to often!!!
