« on: December 10, 2007, 04:43:56 AM »
did anyone catch what mike devaney said after he left like 5th 10 pin with his spit fire?

it sounded like he said, "thats guarenteed with that ball" or something along those lines...

just wondering if anyone else caught that.

From Chris Schlemer's report on Storm's Web site:

"If you watched the show Sunday night, you may have noticed that Mike DeVaney switched to a SPIT FIRE later in the telecast. Mike did the same thing late in qualifying when all his balls started reading early he switched to that same SPIT FIRE to clear the front part of the lane. Not to mention he shot 300 with it as well."

I saw Devaney in person throwing that ball at Country Club last week, it was not the right layout to match up to the condition. He was using a Blue Vibe on the fresh and then trying to go to a LevRG of Spit Fire as the shot changed. He had a ton of over/under when he moved left.

It was not the ball holding him back, anyone that watched him Friday can attest to that. Not to mention with the lefty nation bowling, pairs were not broken down equally.

I think DeVaney ran into the same problem that Malott had in the final match with the one lane being broken down in the front with a puddle of oil just left of the breakpoint where if you didn't get it all the way out there, it was a flat 10 or worse.
