PSA in the CG on a Storm Marvel Pearl
« on: August 22, 2013, 03:23:04 PM »
Just received my Marvel Pearl. 3.5 inch pin to cg 3.39 top, with the PSA x mark inside the cg marker. I thought it odd that a symmetric would have a PSA. But since it does, it would seem to me that it the mb should not be in the cg.

Is this ball a blem.

Thanks

That is the normal cg marked on the ball. A dot along with the eye of the storm around it.
…… you can't  add a physics term to a bowling term and expect it to mean something.

I think he's referring to the small (x) located in the eye of the storm.  if you zoom in on the cg you can see it. but like i said all of my stuff has a similar marking

Ahh, can really tell. It all looks the same. Not enough to look any different from any other Storm ball I've seen.

They all, symmetrical and asymmetrical, should have a small punch mark weather it came out more of a round dot, or an x you would get from a bevel knife of screwdriver. That is the eye of the storm, or the actual cg mark, but it can fall anywhere around that larger engraving. Also, Storm and Roto Grip do not call their second quality balls x-outs. They call them X-blems, or X-comps. They are set apart from first quality balls with larger, "X", around the serial number.

I see. The ball has both a punch mark and a small x in the eye of the storm. The punch mark is off a little so they remarked it with the x. I have purchased many Storm balls before. They have all had the punch mark in the eye of the storm. This is the first that has had the x and a punch mark.

It is completely normal.  Most, if not all of my Storm balls have this.  The "eye of the storm" CG marker is the approximation of the CG point.  The actual "x" inside the circle is the actual CG point.  Sometimes they lie on top of each other, and sometimes they're slightly off-center.  When in the factory, the "x" is punched first, and the "eye of the storm" is placed on top of it.  Sometimes the machinery gets it lined up spot-on, and sometimes it's just a fraction off.  It makes no difference, and it certainly has nothing to do with it being a blem ball, nor does it have anything to do with the PSA.
