I have never thrown anything from Storm and I am considering this ball. I have heard from a couple people that I should worry about longevity with storms heavy oil balls. I don't buy alot of balls and need this to last. Just wondering what peoples opinions are on the longevity of this ball.

As far as the longevity of the Dimension, that depends on how much you take care of it. Cleaning it after each set you use it is important as well as wiping it off after each shot with an oil free towel. I have heard of no issues with Storm's heavier oil balls dying..

As far as the ball, I have not had any luck at all with Storm equipment over the years and bought the Dimension and absolutely love it.. Its like a Cell on steroids for me!!

I highly recommend you go for it..

I've never had problems with longevity from Storm (but again, you must clean your equipment after each set, as you must with any ball company's equipment).  And even better, the new R2X coverstock is supposed to be a longer-life coverstock that absorbs oil more slowly.  Go for it.

You should worry about the longevity of any dull ball you use on heavy oil. You must clean it after every use BEFORE PUTTING IT BACK IN THE BAG and deep clean it regularly. When it does lose performance AND EVERY DULL BALL WILL LOSE PERFORMANCE IN TIME, you need to do an oil (or a plasticizer for Ebonite ball) extraction.

Some balls will last longer than others. A lot depends on how much oil you bowl on and your rev rate and how dull the ball is.

If you don't notice a performance decrease over time, you're not being observant. Learn to be. Every ball absorbs oil EVERY ball of every brand abvsorbs oil. Oil absorption reduces ball performance. The rate of oil absorption varies with the brand, as does the degree of performace loss. Some are fastervsome are slower.

Storm is no different than any other brand in this matter. Anyone who says otherwise has not observed.


The slowest rates of performance loss I have observed are Lanemasters, Visionary (something to do with the thickness of the coverstocks, as well as the quality of the resin), Brunswick Proactive 2.0 particle covers, and Dyno-Thane (now 900Global) Soaker coverstocks.

Dimension it is. I make sure to clean my balls after every set. thanks for the replies, I'm sure I wont be disappointed.

I have a Dimension, and I've used it on thick stuff: Scorpion and Shark patterns.  I'm cleaning it after about 10 games (or until I notice a shine) with Clean'n'Dull.  And so far the ball is still like it was OOB...strong lol

Don't forget to keep using Ab pads to combat the lane shine all balls experience.
