anybody change the surface on their crux?
« on: December 22, 2014, 09:24:04 PM »
i have a crux that i simply cannot figure out the reaction. i tried it with the oob surface, a slight coat of polish on top of the factory surface and a 500/4000 abralon. it seems as though i'm caught in no man's land with the reaction. oob is too early and seems to burn up and hit flat but the smoother finishes or the slightest bit of polish makes it push through my breakpoint if i get a little fast with my speed. has anyone had similar problems with the crux's reaction and if so what did you do to solve it? my ball speed and rev rate are both on the medium side and are matched pretty well.

The ob is 3000, which in storm language is 500/3000. You have polished and tried 500/4000 which is also very aggressive. Have you taken to a spinner and stepped up the finish. 500/1000/2000/4000?  I have found stepping the grits very helpful on storms stronger covers. Lots of things to try between Ob and ob+polish. I have been doing 4 sides at 15 secs a side stepped up and it had made things more useful for me.

I brought mine up a little more with a 3000 pad and loved it even though I still could only use it for the first game. I then tried a 5000 pad on the ball and didn't like it  at all. it became to weak for my fresh shot and way to strong of a ball for the breakdown, felt like the core was just to strong to me. so back to the spinner it went for my rendition of the original surface prep. I Hope :-\
The harder I try the harder they fall

My speed is on the lower side of medium and I track pretty high so I figured the box surface would be a little too strong for me.  I hit it with Step 2 on top of the box surface before drilling.  I have been happy with how it rolls.  I still need to start it in the oil because it wants to pick up its roll pretty quickly in the mid lane.

Storms 3000 surface with a ball spinner is ( 4 sides )
500 - 30 seconds each side
1000 - 20 seconds each side
2000 - 10 seconds each side
3000 - 5 seconds each side.

To achive the 4000 surface, substitute the 4000 for 3000.

I can replicate any factory storm surface using the instructions I found on a .pdf file off Storms website a few years ago.  I have bee able to replicate the 1500 polish surface with ease also..  Send me a PM with your email address and I will forward the file to you
