My friend just gave me a barely used Eraser PBT also. It's my favorite ball of all-time. I'm getting it plugged and re-drilled next week and excited to use it. I'm a lefty and he's a righty, so what tiny, little track there was won't even affect my line. I never did anything with my 1st Eraser but keep it polished at 1500. But that was before Abralon pads. For now, I'm going to keep it at the "out of the box" surface and go from there. As great as this ball was, it never did too well on heavy oil. Sounds you got a great ball for oil in the VG.
I think the Eraser will take surface changes, but only to a point. I never done to well with any pearlized ball with a duller type surface. If anything, try 4K first and see if you get a earlier break point. Then, like the other post, you could try 2K or 1K with polish. I think this will be the better option.
Good Luck and let me know what happens.
