You guys hit the nail on the head. I use that layout mainly when i have to play out and keep the ball on line without a strong change of direction. CONTROL AND PREDICTABILITY !!! Remember those terms because that will be the direction the sport heads when tougher patterns become the norm

As for my grip change....i went to the Strikland grip to try and relieve some pressure on my hand. I've battled tendonitis of the extensors for years and my hand isnt as flexible as it used to be. With the offset thumb it feels like my hand "lays" in the ball much better

I may want to try both that grip and drill layout on my next purchase. Thank you so much for the help guys! And Jeff, when do you think the PBA will change up the shots both on the pro and league levels?

If the thumb is offset, is the measurement from the thumb to the ring still 4 3/16? My math skills say the hole is further from the ring finger, means the ring finger is raised.

BigMike, some might consider me a heretic when it comes to rolling across the holes. I don't think it matters significantly and have never worried about it. If you do the math and take the amount of distance clipping a hole vs. the total ball covered in each revolution it is a small to tiny fraction. Three wrist operations and 25 years ago I was a very high tracker who often clipped fingers and thumb with ball drilled on the label and I just never worried about it because I never saw it having a big impact on my ball reaction.

Would like to see BTM or someone do a real study on this issue. Can't recall every seeing anything like this.
