First 200 game w/ Tropical Storm
« on: May 28, 2006, 08:29:04 AM »
I just bowled my first ever 200 game (202) with the Tropical Storm.  I mean my first ever 200 game with any ball.  We had been bowling a few games with sanded coverstocks and the lanes had really dried out so I made the switch to the Tropical Storm and it did exactly what it was supposed to.  I love this ball.  I keep it polished with the Reacta Shine and it hasn't lost any of its reaction in over 60+ games.

Congratulations! The first one is always the hardest! I think you'll have plenty more over time. Enjoy it.

Thanks!

Yeah I would say the first one is definitely the hardest.  I got kind of nervous when I realized I could make it and then in the 10th I bowled and left one pin standing.  Luckily, I picked up the spare and finished with a strike for the 202.

I can say that I do like my Tropical Storm.

I've been trying to tell people, the Tropical Storm is the most versatile ball I've throwin in a long long time.  I have mine drilled with the pin at 10'oclock and I haven't seen a condition I couldn't use it on yet.  I have put up some decent numbers with it, and can definately see some honor scores coming soon.

It's amazing when you think of the price compared to the high end stuff and time after time I just kept going back to it.

I'll agree with that.  I am glad I bought it as my first reactive ball.  It was good to learn with since it has a nice smooth hook.  It's also one that once you learn with it, you have a solid ball for the future.  I've seen a couple reviews of this ball that say it is NOT for light oil conditions but I am not sure what kind of drilling they used.  I used the standard "label" drilling, and it works great on dry lanes.

I really hope Storm keeps these out for a while...

I agree, that is definitely the goal.  The more you get, you want even more.  Ah, the obsession of bowling.

I can use it on light oil, but I have to throw it way out while standing way in.  If I can play a more down and in shot with it..it's amazing.

Would you consider yourself a "high rev" player?  I have seen others say that it is more than advertised but I don't seem to have that problem.  If it hooks too much, I just move over a bit.

Wow, I just did the same practicing today (204) with my TS. And then i celebrated by buying a new ball, 14 lb Dark Thunder and proceeded to roll my new high game 211

Nice!

Hey I am going the same way actually.  I have a 14lb Tropical Storm (Red/Black) and I just recently got a 14lb Dark Thunder.  I haven't rolled a higher game with the Dark Thunder yet because I have been working out some thumb issues with it.  I am hoping to make the Dark Thunder join the 200 club soon but usually the lanes get really dry and I have to switch back to my Tropical Storm.

This isn't a problem of course.  In fact, if I had it my way I would want to always bowl with my Tropical Storm ball.  I don't think it works like that though.  Plus whenever you get a new ball you always want to use that ball.  I mainly got the Dark Thunder so that I could fight the tons of oil that my house puts down for leagues anyway...  If I ever want to practice around league time the Tropical Storm skids off into the sunset.
