Agreed.  You can't really go with one ball for all patterns.  You might could get away with a large handful of the same ball with different layouts and surfaces, but carrying one ball to PBA leagues probably won't cut it.

In my opinion, you want some generally rolly, predictable stuff for the PBA patterns.  If you want to go with only two balls (plus a spare ball), you would be well-served with the Agent and the Special Agent.  Also, the Sure Fire and Spit Fire are very versatile, predictable balls.

But absolutely, yes, you can't have just one ball and expect to be good on all five of the (very different) PBA patterns.  There's a 9 foot difference in oil between the Cheetah and the Shark!

Any oil pattern...I know there are different oil patterns, I didn't think that I had to say a certain pattern!

Just put down the ball that you like and the pattern you had success on.

We bowl on older wood, so.....

Cheetah: Flashpoint, Atomic Charge, Fired Up
Viper: Agent, Fired Up
Chameleon:  Agent, Special Agent
Scorpion: Special Agent, Epic Battle, Fired Up
Shark: Special Agent, Fired Up
--------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------

I've been lucky long enough...now I'd like to get good.

The Storm balls I am able to use the most are the Special Agent and Secret Agent.  Add a Roto Grip Mystic in there and that's pretty much all I use...

Norm Duke had a ton of success with the Spit Fire on all the PBA patterns.  I think that ball rolls really good.

Based on my summer PBA league experience:

Cheetah - Spit Fire, Zone Classic
Chameleon - Spit Fire, Zone Classic
Shark - Special Agent, Track GP2

I'm not including the Viper and Scorpion patterns because I sucked on those two patterns. I bought an Agent a month ago and I think it would've matched up on the Viper for me.

I also agree with what Dan Belcher said about wanting something that rolls and is predictible.
