900!! AGAIN!!
« on: December 26, 2005, 06:26:31 AM »
Robert mushtare is claiming to have shot another 900 in league on the bowl.com message board!?!?!

I think it is the biggest load of c**p that has ever hit the sport. it is said that he averages 250+ but no one else in the center averages 210.

I think this is nonsense, also no word on the sanction from the usbc.  Is this the biggest hoax ever??!

He also competes in YBT tournaments and averages 212.  The shots they put out are generally modified house shots, but not impossible to hit if you're sharp.  I think this stat is a much better representation of this young mans ability.  Also bear in mind he's sixth in average, and I'm sure most of the others haven't shot 900, let alone 600 for two.  The point I'm making isn't that the young man isn't very talented, but that the center where he's posting these numbers is highly suspect.

Seriously?

REGards,

PS this is a fact and it has been written somewhere?
Could anyone post a reference  or link?  That would be truly sad as Waterskiing a sport I love to follow(and wish I was better at) just went thru a similar scandal!

I just want to say...it sounds farfetched but this kid looks like a kid with some horsepower in his frame and also has a belief in himself.

I have found no claims of fraud regarding these 900s on the web!

I was fortunate once upon a time to have a chance at golf's magic number and got stopped by rain...believing you can do it and believing you can do it plus having some ability is the key.

I remember bowling a few times in pot games and thinking...if I only could have a touch more speed and a little more loft...all of these 30 some consecutive pocket hits would be carrying!

I believe what this kid is claiming is possible if one does not set limits on themselves.  We have a kid that bowls in our leagues(about 21) that I believe when he is going should be able to do the same if he doesn't tighten up!

For this kid in our center the 279s are piling up it seems every night...and most of em look like they are not 300s only because of bad luck!  Several 300s in the meantime!  The condition is not easy for normal guys but with speed, loft control and about 400 rpms it looks a lot easier than for the average guy!

REgards,

Luckylefty
PS there is a guy right down the road from Mr. Mushtare(sp) that has had I think ann 898 and a 880 or 890 just featured in American Bowler. I'm sure another power player!

I dunno if this has been mentioned or not, but I found it kinda funny.  While going through December's Bowler's Journal tonight, I noticed an ad for the Storm Paradigm (page 15).  In the ad, there's a small star saying

"Congratulations Robert Mushtare!  Rolling the new STORM Paradigm, the 17 year old scored a perfect 900 series!"

Storm's using this to try and sell more bowling balls, which is perfectly understandable, but the USBC still hasn't approved it yet.  This would be a good publicity opportunity for the USBC, but its been well over a month without approval.  Something is definitely up.

Well, I'll reserve judgement until after a final ruling is given. It doesn't really seem to matter though. The fact that these questions have been raised already casts all of his accomplishments into question whether he is guilty or not. Still, it does seem like something strange is going on here. I'll tell you this, if he is found out to be a fraud, he will have one hell of a time ever getting his credibility back. For his sake, I hope these 900s weren't BS.

Ok---let's take this to the next logical question. What is done by the USBC when a 900 is claimed to have been shot??? I remember working in the old days at a center at home when a 300 was bowled. The lanes were immediately quarantined until they could be taped and checked by the Local Association Lane Committee.
So,for TWO 900's in league, and another two 900's in practice---allegedly during Pre Bowl-----Should the lanes be shut down???? I'd think that sonce four pairs had to have been used, they'd have to do this.
 Anyone???????????????..............

Nobody tapes the lanes anymore. They are not disallowing any 300's. Doesn't matter how walled up the shot is. Our association hasn't taped the lanes in over 5 years. They would have to have a association member on standby in some of these houses every single night. I don't know why they haven't approved this 900, but is seems clear that there is something wrong with it. I personally don't think it's a lane issue (or else there would be 900's shot more often with some of the blocked up lanes out there) but more like a scoring issue or the guy behind the pin deck.
