900!! AGAIN!!
« on: December 26, 2005, 06:26:31 AM »
Robert mushtare is claiming to have shot another 900 in league on the bowl.com message board!?!?!

I think it is the biggest load of c**p that has ever hit the sport. it is said that he averages 250+ but no one else in the center averages 210.

I think this is nonsense, also no word on the sanction from the usbc.  Is this the biggest hoax ever??!

Norm shot 1200 I think over two squads on tougher tour conditions.

This kie is doing on a blended top hat!!!  Thsi kid is much more powerful of an individual and throws a more powerful ball than Norm!!!

If Norme decided to forego tour and bowl only on a block...don't you think he could shoot 1200 again.

Lucky,

You are comparing apples to oranges here.  Norm Duke to a 17 year old kid..are you serious?  I had people on this site tell me you could not compare Chris Collins' wife to Diandra Asbaty simply because of an age difference when the topic was asking if we thought the wife was a hottie.  Let's face it.  With the strength of today's bowling balls, it is WAY TOO EASY to leave a back row pin on a pocket shot; especially with a power game.  As with someone going to court, it isn't what we believe.  It is only what we can prove.  Mr. 900 here has yet to prove anything outside of claiming he shot 900 four separate times.  All he is proving right now is just how gullable we really are.  Should not believe everything we hear.

Ok---let's take this to the next logical question. What is done by the USBC when a 900 is claimed to have been shot??? I remember working in the old days at a center at home when a 300 was bowled. The lanes were immediately quarantined until they could be taped and checked by the Local Association Lane Committee.

A while back we had a bowler shoot the 1st two 300s and was looking like he was going to get the 3rd.  As a Director on our local Women's board, I was asked to stick around...like I was going anywhere  They needed representatives from the 2 Local Associations to certify the achievement and check the equipment used immediately after he finished.  I am not sure if they would have run tapes or not, but unfortunately he didn't get the last one.  Ended the night with an 886, if I recall correctly.

Prebowls and post bowls are eligible for honor awards and if he is a Youth bowler, that is why you can't see the leagues he bowls in.  It is a protection for the youth against possible stalkers, non-costodial abductions, pedophiles, etc.

As far as the kid telling the truth or not, it sounds fishy, but then anything is possible...not probable, but possible.

I'm not comparing this kids ability to one of the greats!

I'm just saying that the Duke man has less power(from the video I saw) and bowls on hard conditions nearly all the time.  I'm sure if they bowled against each other on a tough tour condition there is no comparison and we both know who would win.  On a blended shot where the pocket is easy to find...I like this guys game!

IN golf there is a similar analogy but I've been asked not to make those comparisons.

The bottom line is some guys in many sports are unbelievable in easy conditions...other guys are not so good on easy but rise to the top on tough.

Two different skill sets!

Sorry, don't mean to hijack this thread, but I thought I could help by providing a link to a local news channel's link to his Interview and Video.
For those of you who are curious about what his style is like, check out the video.

He is being interviewed with a few shots of him rolling his ball.
His father was also interviewed for the segment.

This is really tough. My rational judgement says that we should consider him innocent until proven guilty, but, man, there's a mountain of questionable issues going on here.

1. He did it while pre-bowling. I remember from my youth days that several of my league counterparts always seemed to shoot their best numbers during pre-bowl, when nobody was there to verify what was going on. Heck this was even back in the ancient days of manual scoring!

2. Nobody even really noticed? I don't know about you guys and gals, but if I knew that a bowler in my house was good enough to make a run at 900 on any given day, I'd probably get over to his pair and keep my eye on what he was doing, just because I think it would be very cool to watch.

3. We all know that there are hundreds of great bowlers across the country, and none of them have ever managed to carry 36 in a row one time, let alone 4 in 45 days.

Again, I hope that the kid is legit. It would be a mind-blowing accomplishment. It's mind blowing to throw 900 once in a lifetime, let alone 4 times. Still something just doesn't seem right. I know a lot of bowlers who pack the hole every shot of every night on easy conditions, and none of them have even 1 900. I understand Lefty's point about believing in yourself, but, to me, this is more than just mental. You have to be remarkably talented and fortunate to carry 36 in a row. Most bowlers, even great, will never see that much good fortune once in their liftetimes. How has this kid managed to find it 4 times in a month and a half?

Yep,...if I were him I would not have announced the second set for awhile.

Also....I have never heard two things.
1.  The accusations by Saw the Rack...anywhere but near the top of this thread.
2.  That it was in prebowling unless it was in the interview...I did not listened...I just watched and thought...I could see him throwin 900!
(I know the last 900 I heard about from Pennsylvania wass thrown prebowling but had not heard that on this one).

IMHO, it is just one big load of bunk.  Yes, I watched his video, and yes he does seem to have a powerful ball, but who is really kidding who here?  There is no way I'm going to believe that he did this 4 times in a short period of time.  Maybe once, but even that is an incredibly rare feat.  Of course, if you listened to the interview, his recent success can be attributed to his timing problems being fixed at the bowling camp he attended.  Where do I sign up?

If any one of you EVEN thinks he threw one 900 you should be shot !!!
I have a better chance at climbing the Empire State Building with my bare hands and make it to the top with out falling !!!! This will go down as one of the biggest hoaxes in the history of bowling and maybe sports in general !!!!!

Did he or Didn't he seems to be the question. Common sense tells me he PROBABLY didn't.  I think Jeff Carter from Springfield, Illinois area has the most 300's in ABC history and he hasn't accomplished it and he is bowling on the PBA tour every week in the qualifiers and is usually banging on the door each week.  Professional bowlers DO bowl in leagues in the off season but Earl Anthony, Walter Ray, Parker and on and on have never accomplished it.  Yes, I think anyone that is skeptical has a right to be until THOROUGHLY proven otherwise. If he has lied he has jeopardized the integrity of all bowlers.

All I can say is this, there are a bunch of jealous haters on here and are so quick to shoot down someones accomplishments. If he didnt do it then shame on him but for the most part it seems to be credable. innocent untill proven other wise. P.s I shot 813 last night and guess how many people new about it or even applauded? 6-7 and 4 of them were on my team. I have shot 868, and 858 and both times it has been with back to back 300 and solid tap's. Last year I had 7-8 honor scores in a 2 week period so yes 2 900 that close is fesiable. Honor scores come in bunches when you are throwing it well and on a streak.
