Title: A little survey for ACE owners
Post by: Storm269 on April 14, 2005, 02:53:05 AM
Would like to know how many games you have on the ACE and any sign of "old age"? Or have anyone re-surface the ACE after a certain amount of games and it's performance after the resurfacing..

My ACE has about 200 games on it and was thinking of resurfacing it as track marks can be seen very clearly.

Thanks

I've got quite a few games on my Ace and I have noticed some tracking.  Probably this summer I will totally resurface it but all I did to clean up the ball wheel marks and stuff was to hit it with a gray scotch brite and then a light coat of Black Magic to get the shine back in it.  After that its pretty much back to box finish if not better.  I will probably give it a good cross hatch pattern and then Black Magic it to give it some pop on the backends.  I love my Ace and will be getting another one and drill it more or else a 4 1/4" by 4 1/4" stacked drilling to have a more arching reaction rather than my original with a 5 by 3 skid snap drilling.  Hope that helps.  I know Randy Peterson had one Sunday during practice that he had sanded to about 320 grit that rolled really smooth, but I don't think that ball should be sanded.  If it a pearl ball, keep it shined.  Later.

I've had my ACE since it was released last year.  So far I've done a light sand with a green pad and hit it with a touch of STORM EXTRA-SHINE, that's all it needed to get it back to the box finish.  I also clean it weekly with Ultra-Clean and hit it once a month with Neo-Tac's Hook-It.

I was p!ssed off with the ACE so I cut it right down to 180 grit and went up through the papers. I left it dull at around 1000 grit (and a little Hook-It) and its a new ball. Much better performance now.

Well my Ace probably has around 60-70 games on it, and works just as good from when I first got it. Storm stuff has always been known to die quickly, even though not really too much anymore, but this ball is still runnin' great. If you look in my profile, you can see how much I like my Ace. Haha. I have kept up on it on cleaning it, and when I get a little behind, I will put the Storm Reacta-shine on it.

I am only using the normal Reacta cleaner...looks like I am going to change to Reacta Shine or Moon shine for my ACE to keep it in tiptop condition. Thanks guys..
