Question on Natural
« on: December 23, 2009, 11:33:53 AM »
I have a Natural, drilled pin over bridge, CG out 40 deg, surface 4000 abralon.  I am a tweener, 325-250 rpm, usually throw with about 20 deg axis rotation, high track.  While I like the ball on torn up conditions (what I got it for), I have carry issues, the worst being an inordinate number of 8-10s, more than I get with any other ball in the bag.  No 8s, just 8-10s.  I usually roll it straight up 9 or 8.

What's wrong?  Should I apply more rotation?  Go farther outside?  Surface change?  Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Either more outside or more rotation should do the trick...

Being a lower revs stroker, my Natural has a more aggressive drill than yours.  I also play an outside line with it.

I have also suffered from carry issues (mostly 10 pins) until the lanes are very broken down.  None of the usual 10-pin adjustments work (move back a little on the approach, move 1-2 boards right), so I just took the surface down a bit on it hoping that will help (1200 grit sandpaper + compound).  The Bowling This Month review said the ball carries best with flush or high pocket hits, so I'm hoping that extra surface will give me a little stronger angle into the pocket (understanding this is urethane, of course).  If I took mine up to 4000 it'd probably be a spare ball in my hands!

Unfortunately, I just left town for the holidays so I won't be able to report back for awhile.

hey gris
without trying to change your release or hit the ball harder, I would suggest trying to loft the ball a little farther down the lane.. not alot just look about 6inches at first.. watch the reaction, then try 12inches to see the difference in how the ball reacts and rolls.. if that does not work try putting some polish on it, just a tad at first to see if you can notice/see a change.. then go from there with more polish if needed ,you might have to change the balls cover from 4k to maybe 2k with alot of polish on the ball.. just some suggestions to try.. slashrr69
