New Storm Arsenal
« on: May 26, 2011, 08:50:27 AM »
Hi guys and girls,
After a bit of a break from bowling, I am about to start league again.

I am going over to an all Storm Arsenal, and wanted some advice on layouts if possible.

I throw around 15 - 16 mph, with a high track and relatively straight up the boards (in the vein of Norm Duke).

My PAP is 5 3/4 straight across.

I am currently using an old Brunswick Twisted Fury Destruction which I tend to use as my benchmark ball (which I would like to replace with a Storm Ball), with the following layout on it -

I have a Storm Prodigy, Anarchy and Tropical Heat to have drilled, and tend to play mainly medium to light oil patterns.

Many Thanks, Ian

There are a few choices right off the top that I can think of.  The 2Fast or the Victory Road would be solid choices for a benchmark ball on medium conditions.  The Victory Road is going to be a bit stronger, but could work out well.

On lighter conditions, the Tropical Heat fills the spot nicely.  That line now has choices for solid, pearl or hybrid covers.  My opinion- go pearl if you want more length or solid if you want more midlane.  The hybrid is strong for an entry level ball and may be too close to the 2Fast.

On medium-heavy, there are lots of choices such as the Marvel, Reign Supreme, Reign of Fire, and the Prodigy.  The Anarchy is also in that category but can be speed sensitive.  I would possibly lean towards the Reign of Fire or the Hy-Road.

Heavy oil- the Nano is flat out awesome.

Now, keep in mind that their sister company Roto Grip has some great balls on the market too.  You can easily mix/match balls from both brands to create a very effective arsenal.

My arsenal

Heavy Oil: Storm Virtual Gravity Nano: 2000 AB
Medium-Heavy Oil: Storm Anarchy: 1500 polished
Medium Oil: Roto Grip Nomad Dagger: 1500 polished

Medium-Light Oil: Roto Grip Rising Star: 1500 polished

Which ball in Storm's range would most match the Brunswick Twisted Fury Destruction? Someone suggested the Anarchy if drilled with the same layout, but I get the feeling that the Anarchy would be much stronger?

IMHO the Storm 2Fast would most match the Brunswick Twisted Fury Destruction.

The Anarchy would without a doubt be ALOT stronger.

The more I practice,the luckier I get.
