Advice on a new ball
« on: March 04, 2015, 08:28:05 PM »
I need advice. I am using a storm Frantic on med oil and an old blue hammer on heay oil and a strikeforce as a spare ball. I have been thinking about buying a storm hy-road solid. Am I wasting money because all I am really doing is replacing my Hammer? I am bowling pretty good with the hammer and I like it. Any thoughts?

Can you tell us a little bit more about your game and how you like to play the lanes?  That can help with giving some general suggestions.

Are you trying to fill a gap in your arsenal?

FYI......Not from experience, but observation: the IQ Nano seems to roll better than the Hy road solid.

Hello, Yes I am trying fill in a gap for lane conditions.  I start my night out by standing halfway between the first set and second set of dots. My right foot is on one board left of third dot and I through out between first and second arrows. I adjucst from there as long as I'm doing everything right. If I am making mistakes I fix them then adjust. I am right handed. When I was young my Avg. was mid to high 170's. Now I am high 150's to low 160's. I get into the pocket but would like more carrie. The problem is on my spares. Two spares and I would be back up to my old avg. The old hammer is 15lbs. The frantic and strikeforce are 16lbs. Thank for any advice.

At your average range it suggest that a new hy road ( or any other resin ball ) is not going to make an impact on your game.  You have already stated that your drop off is due spare shooting.  New ball will not help that.  Also, your choice of a blue hammer over a resin ball for heavier oil is puzzling

it really sounds like you could use a new ball in general and need to invest/practice your spares. A lot of people say if I get a new ball my game would be better, but in reality all they need to do is pick up more spares. Not saying thats exactly the case with you but with you saying "if i pick up a few more spares my average would be back" I just wanted to throw that out there.
