Agent or Shift?
« on: May 05, 2008, 01:26:34 PM »
Just looking for a little advice.  Which ball would fit best under my Special Agent for the PBA experience league I will be joining?  I am a high tracker with medium speed that likes to play quite straight, primarily up second arrow.  Any advice would be much appreciated.  Thanks,

Zach

You can't go wrong with either.  IMO the Shift, Agent, and Gravity Shift are all in the same class with different shape characteristics.

If you plan is to play straight up the boards may I suggest the Gravity Shift instead of the Agent or Shift.  Of the three the Agent and Gravity Shift are both lower RG - which is probably favored for track bowlers due to the fact that they will give you a more squared entry angle to the pocket.  The Agent is Reactor and symetric vs. the Gravity Shift is R2X asymetric.  I like to use my Agent inside more and the Gravity closer to the track area when there is more oil.

greene - is your agent more angular than your gravity? based on what you said about playing the gravity from more of an outside angle it seems that way.

I own an agent and pretty much always play it near the track area. From what I've seen the gravity shift is fairly angular and people have played it from inside angles (even though it's lower RG).

Just wondering cause my 5" pin agent rolls pretty early.

Gravity Shift angularity will depend a lot on the mass bias location, i.e. it is more layout specific. That being said, I tend to find the Gravity is a lot better suited for straighter/track shots than the Agent.

Personally I like to have the Agent underneath the Special for me, but generally speaking I never matched up the best with the Shift series. They are very much arsenal balls for me because I find the reactions are very condition specific.

Not exactly.  Reactor is more skiddy (I know, not a word) in oil than R2X so when it finally does hit the dry it reacts more violently.  In general for inside line shot I want something that will turn the corner more violently in order to kick the 10 pin out.  Conversely, for outside line shots I want the ball to face the pocket squarely which seems to make the 6 pin behave correctly and knock down more 10s.  I can absolutely use my Agent for more of a down and in shot but since I have both balls I prefer to use the Gravity and Special Agent for that shot.
