Looking for an overseas release: X-Factor Friction (Asia)
« on: August 12, 2006, 07:33:43 PM »
Looking at the specs, I'm not sure what this ball matches up to exactly but if anyone knows where one is, let me know. Thanks.

BTW, here's the specs if anyone can tell me a U.S. counterpart.

Monsoon Pearl Particle
1000-matte finish
RAD Motion Control weight block
Color: Purple/Black/Silver
Durometer: 73-75 Rex D-scale
Radius of Gyration: 2.49 (Low)
Differential: .060 (High)
Mass Bias Differential: .020 (High)
Flare Potential: High (6” plus)

www.bowlingball.com has a lot of overseas balls, and I think I have seen this ball up for sale on their site. Hope it is there, good luck.

Already checked. But thanks for the suggestion. They do have about a half-dozen overseas models, including the Perfecta and the Premier Paradigm, but they don't have the Friction.

It's basically an X-Factor Reloaded.  You don't want one though, they suuuck, lol.  Drilled mine three or four different ways, did the same thing every time.  Suck.

If it's a ReLoaded, it's got different specs.

The ReLoaded is listed as "Reload3â„¢ Reaction Enhanced Pearl Particle" from Storm's site, while the Friction is listed as Monsoon Pearl Particle. The hardnesses are different on both balls (76-78 on the ReLoaded vs. 73-75 on the Friction), the Friction has a lower RG (2.49 vs. 2.53) and the differential is higher (.060 vs. .058).

EDIT: Looks like it's a pearlized Fear Factor cover with the ReLoaded core.

No offense, but I know.  Had it drilled two different ways with all kinds of different surfaces.  Got one of every kind of pattern here in town (heavy, medium, long, short, etc.) to test it on.  I also had a Reloaded, which is the same ball.  Same thing with it.

Hampster,
One thing you need to remember, if the cover is wrong for the condition that you are bowling on it does not matter how it is drilled.

Just wanted to point out again that they're similar, but not the same. They have different coverstocks and different RGs and differentials. If you go to www.stormbowling.com and search the balls, you'll see what I mean.

Here's the Friction: http://www.stormbowling.com/intl/ball3.asp?sid=28

Here's the ReLoaded: http://www.stormbowling.com/products/balls/archive-ball.asp?ballid=66

The Friction has the same specs as the Fear Factor. The Friction's coverstock is the same thing as on the XXX Factor (Monsoon Pearl).

Here's the Fear Factor for comparison: http://www.stormbowling.com/products/balls/archive-ball.asp?ballid=89

So basically, a Friction is a combination of three balls: Core shape from the ReLoaded, specs of the Fear Factor, coverstock from the XXX Factor.

The only way the Friction and the ReLoaded are identical are if Storm has a misprint in their site, and if that's the case I need to see a link where Storm addressed that.
