A League of Thunderstruck's Own
« on: November 12, 2006, 11:17:56 PM »

I tried out my new Thunderstruck Solid in league last night and (as predicted) it was perfect.  I got a new league best series total which is nice.  I really feel that I am going to do a lot better with this ball overall because it is so smooth and is easy to make adjustments with.

I practiced with this ball 3 nights in a row before league and I have to say once you figure it out it is pretty exciting to use.  I have tried it on a variety of lane conditions now. I wouldn't use this guy on really dried out lanes, but other than that I would say it is the "go to guy" from now on.  Next week in league I am just going to bring this ball and my Blue Dot.

This seems like the perfect ball.  Very smooth but will still make a big arching hook when you need it.  I am able to play deeper with confidence with this ball if I need to (that's a first for me by the way).  Go up the back and play up the sides and it will turn in nice.

Unfortunately, there was something in the pit or ball return last night which has put big nasty holes in my brand new ball.  Isn't that the best?  Only a couple are on my track so I hope it won't mess up the ball too much.  Don't harm my new purple baby!

Purple is the new gold?

Good choice, I have one and I cant get it out of my hand. As long as the lane man puts enough out.

Good for you Fluff! Did it actually make you leave the Dark Thunder at home??

This ball rocks enough to where I want to keep practicing with it.  It definitely fits my style of bowling but also allows me to try other things because of its controllable hook.

Well the problem is that I moved up in weight as an experiment and the experiment turned out to be better.  Unfortunately my Dark Thunder now sits there sad and alone.

I was going to grab another Dark Thunder (and I still might) but I decided to try out its purple stepbrother.

I bought the Thunderstruck Pearl instead, pretty much the day it was released.  Everything I read, and the games I've had so far, seems to make me think I picked the wrong ball....

I doubt the pearl one is a bad ball.  I think maybe it is just a question of how long you want the ball to go.

Ya, I really didn't spend enough time with it before starting league, I just feel better blaming the ball ya know.

Yeah it's easier to blame the ball!  I think in general though there aren't really bad balls just ones that maybe you could do better with on a certain condition.
