Atomic Charge question
« on: November 08, 2007, 05:39:14 AM »
Out of all the current storm balls out right now, which would be a good replacement for the Atomic Charge?  With just a quick glance I saw that the Special agent might be something similiar with reaction but obviously would be stronger than the Atomic Charge.  Anybody has an ideas?  Thanks for your help.

Special Agent is pretty close, my atomic was stronger than my special agent in my case the Special is a big flop.

Still kick around selling it off on here for me the Secret Agent is closer to the Atomic.

I'd go with the Diablo or Thunderstruck Solid.

Don't know what you want in a ball, but if you are looking at something that is close to your Atomic Charge, the T-Road Solid also looks pretty close to me.  Both are solid reactive, the Troad is the upgraded R2s & they are almost finished the same, 800 grit vs 1000 & their radius of gyration is close.  The Special Agent is also R2s Solid reactive at 2000 grit but I think with it's weight block & radius it really needs some oil depending on your layout.  My house I can only use it 1st game or throw it really hard with my layout with very little hand.  With no oil it loses energy before it even comes close to hitting the 1-3 pocket & just rolls out w/out even a wimper. If that sounds like your Atomic Charge then Special Agent is it.  Reaction could be changed some by polishing it up but like I said, not sure how your Atomic reacted on specific lanes w/your layout or finish.

If you're looking a little higher end, I recommend the Shift.  Mine is drilled pin slightly up to go longer & it allows me to play this ball through out the night starting between 2nd & 3rd arrow 1st game & by going a little deeper inside about a 3 or 4 frames into the 2nd game.  Last week in the 2nd game I played my usual line 2 frames too long & when I adjusted inside I threw a 5 bagger before leaving a ringing 10 pin in the 12th.

Hope this helps you & good luck.

It's a discontinued ball.  Probably hard to find one. Was released in Nov 2004.  Old by bowling standards, LOL.  Maybe he could ask around the different pro shops in his area??  Who knows, maybe a Storm poster might know?

Hard to go wrong with any Storm ball really.  It's fun reading everyone's opinions about the balls though.  Congrats on the SureFire!!  Looks like a good ball, but then so do all of them.

Thanks for all that have responded.  T-road solid seems like the ball most people recommended as to similiarity.

Cool, Let us know what you think after bowling w/it.  The clips I watched looked pretty good.
