Natural Pearl

The lanes I bowl most on are front synthetic / wood backends. The backends are very dry and snappy. Currently using a Hammer Rayzr and even that is strong. Thinking about getting the Nat Pearl for a step down. Anyone tried this ball and on what conditions are you using this? Thanks in advance.

It has not been released yet, but maybe a Storm staffer will chime in. I have a Roto Grenade at 4000 and Extender polish and mine works fine on dry.

Are you simply looking for something that is calmer on the backend, or do you need to make sure you're getting push as well? If it's just the backend you're worried about, I would consider the original Natural. That ball will read the fronts quickly, and then you can let the nasty dry wood backends bring it back to the hole. Now, if you need to make sure it clears the heads as well, then the pearl would probably be a better choice. Also, before buying a new ball at all, I'd alter the surface of the Razyr if you haven't done so. I found the box finish to be way to jerky off the dry. However, take it to 500/4000, and then you get a really nice balance of length and recovery.

Gene,
Thank you for your suggestion about the Rayzr. I would like the push as well from the pearl.

I just drilled one and tried it last night. It comes sanded 500/4000, I polished it. Although there was too much oil to really use it, I compared it to an identically drilled and polished Natural. The pearl does have more push through the fronts and less overall hook. In my opinion it will hook less than an Avalanche Urethane as well.
