Nano Resurfacing Issues
« on: April 15, 2011, 12:16:17 PM »
Hello all,

I have a quick question to ask about resurfacing the nano.  I took it down to 500 then took hit it with a fresh 4k pad for around 10-20 seconds on 4 sides.  After I was finished the ball looked crazy shiny and nothing like the box finish that storm advertises as 4k.  What did I do wrong as I took the advise from my pro shop guy before putting it on the spinner.  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I press a little harder when I use the lower grit pads and press less with higher grit pads.

But recreating the NIB finish of any bowling ball is difficult because you don't have access to the same machines and supplies as the manufacturer.

i would go low speed ona spinner light pressure with the 500 pad then do 4000 by hand .. probably the only way its gonna come close without using the surface factory

The Nano is the dullest 4000 out of box I have ever seen!  I would assume that Storm hit it VERY lightly with the 4000 because as you found a true 4000 will give you some shine.  I would go 500 low speed/medium pressure/lots of water and then 4000/light pressure/lots of water.

Be sure to let us know how it goes for you.

After hitting it with 500 I would've applied very light pressure with the 4000 pad for 3-5 seconds instead of 10-20.

It's always easier to go back and hit it again with a 4000 pad if you didn't hit it enough the first time. Hit it for too long and you make it shinier and lose the effect the 500 pad had as well which means you have to start the process all over again.
