anyone had problems with marvel cover
« on: April 25, 2011, 08:30:15 PM »
I have been thinking of getting a Marvel and was told that the cover looses reaction quickly and needs a lot of maintainance. Has anyone had any problems like this. I have a Victory Road and really like the way it rolls. I think I would like a Marvel for the heavier stuff.

The cover  on the Marvel is the R2X solid. It's the same cover used on the Dimension and the Virtual Gravity, so its been out for a while. I have not heard any reports of "ball death" or any unusual coverstock issues. All high performance covers require some maintenance (cleaning and periodic refreshing), and the R2X is no different. If you like the roll of the Victory Road you will like the Marvel as well.

This is not difficult:

Clean after every use.

Use Ab pads to keep surface to desired texture.

I agree with the previous two posts.  I have a VG with 100 games on it.  Clean after each use and follow Storm's instructions for resanding the surface with abralon every 20 games or so and the cover is great.

Got a friend with a VG (same cover I think), and all he has ever done was clean it after every set. He has never resurfaced it, nor has he had the oil removed from it.

This is the second full league season he has bowled with it, and he bowls two leagues, so over 400 games on it, and he just told me last night that it seemed to be slowing down a little, so he's going to do an oil extraction/resurface before NEXT season, as he loves it and plans to continue using it.

Don't think I'd be afraid of THAT cover.

I've been throwing Storm equipment for over a decade now and I've never had a Storm ball die on me.....ironic thing is that every Roto Grip ball I've ever own has died on me within the first 50 games.

I have a Marvel, I wipe it off after every shot, I clean it with some Remedy Rx after every set and I use Clean & Dull every 10 or 12 games. The ball has over 60 games on it and it still hooks like the day I got it..

No problems with my VG, just follow what Riggs said and you'll be fine.
