Are the Duke rumors true or BS?
« on: February 11, 2009, 05:08:35 AM »
I'm just curious if the rumors about Duke burning up Fagans line during practice before the final match are true?

I wasn't their but watched it on TV.  I saw Duke practicing the outside line on TV right before they broke for commercial.  After the commercial time out the players were done practicing.

Most of you guys must not have competed in any other sports. If it is within the rules, and gives you an edge, do it. Everyone can pick up a sanded ball and throw it if that is how they want to use their warm up time. I doubt it would give most any advantage.

Ducke is one of the best. Probably the most accurate bowler on tour right now. He won because he was the best on Sunday. All of you Duke haters need to quit crying.

You da man, ccrider!
That's what I've been trying to tell everyone here about this topic......In competition, you do "whatever it takes" to win, and what Duke does, along with all the other pros, is totally legal.  You try to give yourself a competitive edge.  If people don't like that, go back to playing "Tiddly Winks"......since they're obviously oblivious to the nature of this game we love so much!

ENOUGH!!!

Norm had 10 strikes and 9 on the fill.
Fagan would have had to been nearly perfect and get at least 11 strikes to win. He got 3.

My question is, who cares? There's no form of "cheating" involved here, and Duke did nothing wrong. Fagan doesn't own rights to a specific part of the lane, it's there for anyone to use should they see fit, with any ball they feel might score.

Duke did absolutely nothing wrong, that's why a bowling lane has 39 boards on it - for anyone to use.

Another great point.....

What Duke did is nothing more than to try to gain an advantage. What about the baseball pitcher who those some chin music to move someone off the plate or a billiard player whose purposely buries the cue ball. The hurry up offence in football so that the defense can't get the desired players on the field. They're all within the rules to gain an advantage.

If the PBA felt that it's unfair then they will change the rules. i.e. tear away football jerseys or stickum on the receivers hands. A guy bunting every pitch to tire out the pitcher.

When was the last time Norm ever used a ball that was sanded on a t.v. show?I don`t doubt this happened,it seems to happen all the time.

Well I saw him win a tournament with a Paradigm Passion on TV.  Thought it was last year. Out of Box it comes 500 Grit Matte.  He only beat Ryan Shafer to win the 2008 Denny's world championship w/it.  But I guess that don't count does  it???

Yeah, okay.  Norm hasn't done anything illegal so get over it already.  If he is doing something illegal, wouldn't you think the PBA or USBC would be all over it by now?  No, you'd all rather cry sour grapes because a guy bowled a line that isn't popular w/your game & won.  A hall of fame bowler at that.  Wah  wah.  Enough.
