Arsenal change!
« on: January 25, 2019, 02:09:56 AM »
Need some help on a possible change in my arsenal. I plan on getting 1 ball this year for league.

Here's what i currently have:
Code Black (cover kinda died on me)
Son!q
Torrent
Crux Pearl (still works well on broken down lanes)
All Out Show Off

We rarely play on very heavy oil patterns, that's why i was surprised that my Code Black died after about 30-50 games on it.

What do you guys think? Either I drop the Code Black since it doesn't hook unless you throw it on dry lanes or I drop the Crux Pearl just because its 4 years old already.

Please help me out guys. I only got approval from my boss (wife) to get 1 new ball this year.

Thanks.

Keep em coming guys.

I forgot to mention that i'm from the Philippines. I don't think we have the Detox machine in any of the Pro Shops here. Is there a way i can do that by myself or with the help of my PSO?

@michael.willis9 i'll keep your tip in my back pocket. Btw, what's the difference of the 2 After Darks?

smoothness.  I'll admit i only have the pearl but if you skip over to the 900 global forum here, theres a member named impending doom who can really break it down.

but my after dark pearl gets long and is smooth as opposed to jumpy on the back end, the solid is even smoother and earlier

I heard my name!

S30 is weak, but the solid is smoother and earlier, and the pearl is longer, but not super snappy. I'd say there's about 3 boards difference between the 2

Ok I’m going beetlejuice style here...

Impending doom! Impending Doom! Impending doom!

My after dark pearl is drilled pin over the ring and I love its reaction. Say I got the solid and went pin down and adjusted the heck out of the cover, how much difference between them would there be?

It's showtime!

I think if you went same pin to pap distance and took the cover to 2000, maybe 6 with more in the midlane.

You have to have notifications lol. I’m trying to decide if I want a weak solid or strong solid for my sportshot league.

I’ve got a no rules pearl (1500 grit), daredevil trick (oob finish), hyroad (oob finish) and my after dark pearl (oob finish)

I was thinking either the after dark solid or turmoil solid

Weak solid, After Dark solid. Strong solid, Claw.

But the price of that turmoil solid yo. Plus I planned on doing a lot of surface work. If I got the turmoil solid I’d keep it dull, hit my dare devil with like 3000 grit and the hyroad at 4000 and keep my ADP shiny because that’s my house shot ball

You're asking 1. A staffer and 2. Loyal customer since they came out with their first ball. And you think I'm gonna say "Yeah, Turmoil sounds like the best thing for you!"

In all seriousness, it has a proven core and is a good value.

Lol I got ya man. I do love my after dark and it’s my foot in the door to the brand. But I’m not contracted like you :) :)

I have the after dark solid.   Cant say enough good things about it on hooking or short patterns.  Having said that I dont know if I would recommend it as a one new ball.  Where does your Soniq fit in for you?   I just added an Idol pearl.   Unless  you are really playing on dirt it could be a good option.

Snappy do yourself a favor. Drill a tour iq solid. It will be your benchmark, everyday ball that will cover all medium lane conditions. One of the most versatile, best storm balls ever made. Takes well to surface adjustments too. Just put your favorite drill in it and fire away. If you like storm, rg stuff. This is a must have in your arsenal.

IQ tour will be a blessing on sport or tougher conditions
HY-road is a house shot must

Phaze ii would be the most different from what you already own.

Of the 3 probably ohaze 2 would help you out the most..
In the bag [Infinite Physix, Volatility Torque, Night Road, Phaze III, Burner Solid, Hustle AU]
*Now Testing* IQ Ruby, Renevant, another IQ Tour solid
Coming soon...???

Tour iq solid. You can make the tour  iq solid do anything with with surface adjustments. Don’t be afraid to drill it on the strong side. It’s a low differential ball with tight flares. My low pin is a house shot, over under killer.

If you have an automatic dish washer you can do it in there. Just make sure you don't have extra heated water option and turn off the heated drying.  Or you can put your ball in a bucket of hot water.  Either method, just make sure your hot water isn't more than 125 deg Fahrenheit

Hot Tap water and Dawn Ultra Detergent @ 5 minute intervals in a utility sink or a 5 gallons plastic bucket, but whatever works for each bowler I suppose.  ;) I use cork stoppers) bought @ a hardware store) to plug thumb & finger holes. Been using this method for several years and works well for me. Also use my PSO to remove oil every so often as well, when I have a few extra coins to spend.

Here are my choices:
Intense Fire
Physix
Crux Prime
Halo Pearl
Halo
Hyroad X
IQ Tour Solid
Code X

I am looking for a replacement for my Code Black. I need a ball stronger than the Code Black and Soniq.

Kindly help me choose from the balls i mentioned above.

Thanks.

Can you kindly tell me what made it the winner? By the way, i need something for longer patterns like 42 and 44ft patterns.

I disagree with this. I've had no problems with my equipment performing since picking up some cleaning tips from here and some experts. If you have a good general cleaner and a deep cleaner, your equipment will hold up pretty well. Combine that with a detox when needed and surface touch ups/resurface and you should have no issues.
