Arsenal change!
« on: January 25, 2019, 02:09:56 AM »
Need some help on a possible change in my arsenal. I plan on getting 1 ball this year for league.

Here's what i currently have:
Code Black (cover kinda died on me)
Son!q
Torrent
Crux Pearl (still works well on broken down lanes)
All Out Show Off

We rarely play on very heavy oil patterns, that's why i was surprised that my Code Black died after about 30-50 games on it.

What do you guys think? Either I drop the Code Black since it doesn't hook unless you throw it on dry lanes or I drop the Crux Pearl just because its 4 years old already.

Please help me out guys. I only got approval from my boss (wife) to get 1 new ball this year.

Thanks.

Well for one we have limited options here for cleaners. We dont have those detox machines here.
And since i have a budget from our company to get a new ball, thats why i want to get a new one and replace the ball which i really dont use anymore rathelar than make surface changes to it. I'll justblet the one who will buy it enjoy the ball as it is.

sounds to me you need to change ball companies,storm balls suck they don't last like they used to for a good reason sic{money}
I disagree with this. I've had no problems with my equipment performing since picking up some cleaning tips from here and some experts. If you have a good general cleaner and a deep cleaner, your equipment will hold up pretty well. Combine that with a detox when needed and surface touch ups/resurface and you should have no issues.

Th oil cleaning wipes I have seem to restore almost all my equipment including stuff back to like 2000.

The creators of them claimed they were even better than oil baking ovens.  The reason for that he said was, no heat (and risk of cracking), and it combines oil removal with pore cleaning which allows the coverstock to reabsorb oil.  This  very important last step is NOT done by the oil cleaning furnaces!

They were called Adrenaline wipes but they may have been reconstituted as an Ebonite product

PS to take a very old very oil logged ball back to factory acting new it will sometimes take 3 applications.  However on the wet/dry shots I bowl on I often don't want brand new type of quick response off the dry!  Too fast for wet/dry with my soft speed!

Hi guys! Just a quick update.

After considering all your suggestions, I asked my PSO to work on my Code Black. He did a very good job in bringing it back to life and had it back as close to OOB as he can get.

As for the new ball, i decided to retire/sell my old reliable Crux Pearl.

I originally wanted a Physix or Halo or Crux Prime but it was sold out since they only get a few balls per quarter. I was quite disappointed until my PSO offered me an Idol! Since i've read alot of good reviews here about the Idol, I went ahead and got that.

So here's my new arsenal. Please let me know if i have any gaps i should address. I will be in the market for another ball by Dec or January 2020.

Code Black
Son!q
Idol
Torrent
All Out Show Off

Blue Dot (Spare Ball)

Not a bad arsenal; You do need something for the heavier and dryer lane conditions to complete it   (As you don’t have enough for the flood, and nothing to combat the lighter conditions, and as a result, your balls will overreact in the front part of the lane, if not at your feet).

Fill those 2 slots, and your good to go imo.

Btw, you are also overlapping on the sonic/code black, (possibly even Sonic/idol,since their both transition pieces); You can however, make them work with surface/layout changes, to get different shapes/motions on various parts of the lane.

Just something to keep in mind.

I wouldn't say the Son!Q and Idol overlap at alll, but I agree with the rest.

That’s fair, but they both do read the lane early (not to far off on the back end motions as well, although there is a difference).   ;)
