Phaze - 1st batch vs. 2nd batch?
« on: February 21, 2017, 06:06:56 PM »
Since the 2nd batch of the Phaze seems to be a big winner while the 1st batch was a dud, is there some way to tell them apart?  Just wondering. Not sure I want to roll the dice and then unfortunately get one from the 1st batch.

The OG one that people mostly don't dig looks like Easter. The 2nd and following batches look normal!

I received that Phaze yesterday, and the colors are much darker than those on the Phaze that Storm shows on the web site, which is first batch. The orange color they should (and is on first batch Phaze, which I"ve seen in person) looks more like the "copper" on the Snap Lock, the blue is much darker and the yellow looks more white than yellow. But it is marked PHAZE and not Snap Lock even though it looks very much in colors like a Snap Lock.

I haven't bowled with it yet, going to take it to the Pro Shop Saturday morning to adjust finger holes and put the properly sized inserts in.

Does anyone here think a second batch Phaze could be better than a Snap Lock?

Has Storm acknowledged that the first batch was bad?  I don't have one, but would be pretty upset if pretty much everyone knew that if I would have waited, I could have had a much better ball.

I don't see Storm acknowledging that the first batch was bad...if it was bad.  If they admitted they knew, they could potentially be told to replace them all and I don't see them wanting to open that can of worms.  Admitting could also potentially open a door for arguments that a batch was bad for any ball that doesn't perform well.

I don't believe its common knowledge that there is a performance difference between the 1st and 2nd batches.  Personally, until this thread was created, I had no clue there was a difference.

Me either.  That's why I was curious.  Quite a few people here seem to be convinced of a performance (not just color) difference.

Are there any test videos of second batch phases? I don't see any in my area from anyone that has half a hand in the ball and I am contemplating one

I bowled a full game today with that used Phaze I picked up, and it seemed weak overall. I hit one Brooklyn strike with it, had several ringing 7s and ringing 10s, I made several adjustments and just never really thought I had figured out how to repeatedly get good shots with this ball. Maybe that's why the previous owner listed it on Ebay.

From what I"ve read, it looks like in many instances the Phaze and the Fight are weak balls.

For me the Fight wasn't a weak ball but the cover needed some oil. I threw some decent games and sets when I had mine, but some of the best looks I had with my Fight was on some sport patterns that had volume

Me too. The ball was killer at nationals. Literally my best look was with the fight.
